It went very very wel. Starting with the drawings and design we felt that Coconut Bay was very professional and driven. During the period of building we could not visit the house itself and were related to pictures and movies. I was a little sceptic since we are used to Northern European craftsmanship. It became clear from the beginning that the process was constantly monitored very well and the house was very clean during all stages of building. The end result was as expected, all perfect and no snag list at all. What an unbelievable service and quality.

They would only work 2 hours, and I wouldn't see them for days, then 3 hours and I wouldn't see them for days at a time. They would measure for the electrical outlets in the wrong place, and have to come back to redo them. They left the toggle switches in place instead of doing the lighted switches that I had asked for. We can't even change the toilet seat on the toilet they put in. They also installed push drains, which became a really difficult thing to deal with. The salesman kept asking us why we were stressed, and kept having to remind him that THEY were the reason we were stressed. The cleaning lady that came after everything was said and done left everything in the same shape (not cleaned) as they were when they started the work. The finish they put in the bedroom wasn't what we'd asked for. They didn't want to do the patterns on the ceiling so that my bathrooms would match the rest of the house either. They would come to drop off materials and wouldn't let us know. They would even store all their supplies in my garage and lanai which meant that I couldn't use them for 4 months. That started to become dangerous for us.They put a dumpster in my driveway for a few weeks, that they threw all of the cabinets in when they were putting in the new ones. The dumpster left rust stains on my pavers, which they did replace. They did comply with everything I asked, but I had to keep on them to make sure they would come through on what they said they would do. We were glad when they were gone. I did become friends with most of them, but I wouldn't recommend them, and that makes me sad. I do love my bathrooms; it just took far too long for everything to get done.
Description of Work: We started working with them in April of 2016 to help us completely redo 2 bathrooms.

We purchased a home in Cape Coral that nothing had been changed since 1978 we were in town for 4 days in May talking several contractors. Herman from Coconut Bay was one of four he came in and measured the kitchen and bath then the next day he returned with a full plan taking down several walls and moving all the pluming ,duct work, wiring taking out a window a full gut and new lay out he also brought counter and cabinet samples one of the other contractors said he would do the job for a few thousand less but when I asked to see his plan or what material he was using he said no way I could see it till I signed a contract I wished him good luck and went with Herman Living 1600 miles away you need to be able to trust your contractor I gave Herman the keys to the house and a deposit telling him I would not be back till October . during the next few months he would send us photos of the work and what we needed to pick out next Pluming fixtures , tile, molding, doors paint lighting etc when we returned in October we were very pleased with the job and he suggested we stay in the house a few days to make sure there wasn't any problems before we met for final payment...........almost a year later we had a minor problem and he sent his guys right out and took care of it so I feel this is a company you can hire with total confidence

Jeremy Miller, the construction supervisor met with us in advance and soon the work began. We can not say enough good things about every member of their team. Roger, Blake, Jody, John, Pete, Dave, Jeff, Jeremy and Herman. Professional, talented, friendly and a pleasure to have in our house. The finished product is beautiful and we were very satisfied with quality of product and service for the price. We highly recommend this contractor.
Description of Work: We knew we wanted a full on kitchen reno to create and open concept living space. By chance we stopped by the Coconut Bay Construction booth at the downtown market. Herman Gruber came to our house the very next week and quickly gave us his vision which was nothing short of amazing.

Renovation went very well. Entire job took about 1-1/2 months from start to finish. Construction started on time and a schedule was followed. The project supervisor was accommodating and responsive. The workmanship for all the different jobs was professional, flexible and personable. Extra care was taken to keep the job site clean and non-intrusive on a daily basis. It is a pleasure to recommend Coconut Bay Construction as a reputable contractor in Southwest Florida.

We got EVERYTHING we asked for.. The work was clean and professional. All work performed was done in a timely and meticulous manor. These guys were a pleasure to work with. They were courteous, and paid attention to EVERY DETAIL. Our specialists (Jeremy, especially Roger, and Pete) communicated well with us. Our salesman (and designer RICK) did a fabulous job of providing us with detailed design and pictures of 'what we could expect'. The result has been nothing less than "jaw-dropping", and the QUALITY of the cabinets, design and 'feel' are superior...Real Wood cabinets and trim, beautifully finished, slow-close drawers and doors, uniquely designed blind corners and intermingled glass doors. There is NO BUYER's REMORSE here. Are there things we would've tweaked?...Sure. However, this kitchen 'works for us' and is one of those projects that when we come out to it each morning it 'takes our breath away'.

Couldn't have asked for a more professional and capable company; the entire experience was exemplary. We interviewed four contractors prior to selecting Coconut Bay. While I felt that the other contractors could have done generally good work, Coconut Bay simply brought far more to the table, beginning with our experience with their sales professional, Herman Gruber. As an example, whereas the other firms asked me what we wanted and then provided quotes, Herman spent considerable time discussing our tastes and the overview of what we wanted to accomplish, and then made design recommendations that we would not have thought of by ourselves. This approach continued throughout the engagement, allowing us, with Herman's considerable assistance, to make design changes on the fly. The end result is wonderful. In addition to Herman, we'd like to point out the outstanding professionalism of Matt Krupka, the owner, and of Scott, the project manager, and especially Luke, who was the day to day onsite guy running the project and doing most of the actual construction. Luke was outstanding...a pleasant, friendly, and extremely professional contractor who was careful to ensure that everything was done with great attention to detail. This was a large-scale project: all new flooring through much of the house, a new entryway, a complete gutting of the dining area and kitchen (down to the studs), removing of a load-bearing wall, the addition of a beautiful wine bar, the addition of a new roofline over our kitchen, new tile and hardwood flooring, a gorgeous new fireplace in the family room, etc. Again, Herman worked with us everyday on selection of beautiful cabinetry, several different granites (for kitchem, wine bar, and guest bathroom), and everything tied together beautifully. They completed the work on time and on budget, and we would highly recommend them and serve as a reference if asked. Our thanks to Matt, Herman, Scott, Luke, and assorted workers at Coconut Bay for turning our house into the beautiful, modern home we envisioned.

Absolutely the most excellent work by any contractor in all of my renovations ever. Herman the sales rep explained everything that they would do, how much everything would cost, and stayed in constant contact throughout the entire 6 week renovation. From the workers to the supervisors, everyone was courteous, skilled, kept us informed of every step along the way, gave us options and good advice. Every detail was important to them, and the work was performed as if it were their home. The kitchen is gorgeous! Neighbors and friends are in awe of the beauty and fine work done by Coconut Bay Construction. I will continue to sing the praises of this company to everyone. In this area, we have heard horror stories of contractors doing poor work or leaving things unfinished. We feel very lucky to have chosen them to do our job.

We had an awful master bathroom. Configuration was all wrong, so Coconut Bay (Herman) came in with many, many great ideas and renderings. Now we have the most wonderful, functional, and bright bathroom. We liked the crew who worked on our bathroom day in and day out. You would have thought they were working in their own homes! Every day a large amount of work was started - and completed. At the end of the day, the entire construction area was cleaned up and ready to work in the next day. Working with Coconut Bay was definitely a "Do". There were no "Don'ts" on the part of Coconut Bay because they found a suitable/workable solution whenever a situation came up. Scott, const. mgr., was easily contacted and came by often. This was, by far, our best remodeling experience. I can truly say on future remodeling projects, we will be loyal customers - and only call Coconut Bay. The majority of situations/delays that came up were caused by the City of Cape Coral Code Inspection. They gave us all fits!!

I met a representative from the company at a Home and Garden Show last Spring. The salesman seemed professional and eager to earn my business when I told him I was interested in taking down a wall in my kitchen and adding an island to replace the wall to open up the space. I made an appointment for a week later for an estimate. The salesman showed up on time and gave me a free estimate. It seemed like a good price; therefore, I signed a contract with the salesman to have the work completed. The salesman told me it would take a week to have the work completed from start to finish. I told the salesman I already had a person who I hired to do my granite countertops, and he said it would be no problem. Turns out they use the same company I did for granite so it wasn't a problem and I saved myself some $$$ by using my own Granite Company. The owner of the company came out with the salesman and the job superintendant a few days later. They seemed professional and eager to start the job. The start date was pushed back a week. I was told the cabinet company making the island was backed up and they would start when it was completed. I asked the superintendant to go ahead and start the job anyway because most of the work was demo and electrical and I did not want any gaps in construction time. He agreed and sent his worker out the next day to start work. The worker was careful and put up plastic lining around the kitchen to prevent dust from entering other parts of my home. He took down the wall and cleaned up after himself when he was finished. The next day the electrician came out and rewired the exposed wires from the ceiling (where the wall was) and put in the recessed can lights in the ceiling. A drywall installer showed up the next day and put up the drywall. She had to leave early because of a personal issue, but came back out the next day on time and finished her portion of the job. A few days later, the island arrived and was installed. I had my granite people come out a couple days later and install my countertops and undermount sink. I installed my own tile backsplash after the countertops were installed. We love our new kitchen and received lots of nice comments from friends and family who have been to our home and those friends who have seen the before and after photographs on our Facebook page. Coconut Bay did a nice job for a good price. I would use them again for other projects I am planning in the future.

This company comes across as professional however, beware of their salesmen. Nothing they promised happened. They never returned my calls, they promised the work would be done by a certain date but they didn't even order the door by that date. Each time they scheduled a time to work on replacing the sliding glass door, something would come up to delay the job. When they did come out, the door didn't fit. It had been measured wrong. They wanted their money immediately upon completion of the job but an inspection was required so I refused to pay them. They failed the inspection and had to come out and fix the job. The doors are still in place but the job is just not professionally done. I would NOT recommend this company to anyone.

They met every expectation; got it done on time and did all the little things. These customer were told from day one that they needed a new roof and they said that they did not want to spend that kind of money. Our installer that did a small repair for them has been a roofer for over 25 years. He told them that the problems that came after our repair was from an area higher on the roof then our repair. We patched a smaller area and they had us come back 5 separate times to do work that was not part of the original small patch that was contracted. As the owner of the company I spoke directly to the husband and told them that we would not continue to keep patching other areas of the roof for free. They need a new roof. That has not changed. They were never hung up on by me. I really don't know what they mean by this. I have extremely detailed pictures of the roof before we repaired it and after our repair and the subsequent 5 additional repairs that we did. You are welcome to view all of the work we did and decide if the $700 dollars they paid us justifies what actual work and materials were used there and actually who is the victim here. Call our office.

The workmanship is extraordinary. He was a perfectionist. My kitchen is beautiful. They said it would only be 2 to 4 weeks. They were here for 7 weeks. Todd Christopher lied about everything. There was only one person doing the job. My husband and I had to eat out for 7 weeks. Todd Christopher would not return my calls. I told them if they could not be done before Thanksgiving then I would wait. I had to order in Thanksgiving. The owner Matt showed up. He made sure the job was done in the next couple days. The sales guy and owner were rude. We made them pay us for our dinner. They knocked off 600 dollars. The sales guy called me a liar. The owner sent me a letter telling me that he had fired the sales guy. I found out later that it was a lie.

There was something going in Cape Coral about six months ago and all the people were there and this company had a booth there. I went and talked to a young man and he gave me his card and told me that he would send someone to give me an estimate. A young man came and gave me an estimate. It took me sometime to get back to them since I had to take care of some other repairs. A young lady from the company finally called me and asked whether they could send someone out to give me an estimate. I told them that I had already got one and she told me that I needed another estimate. A man came out and he looked around but he didn't seem too interested about it. He went around the yard and looked and told me that he would call me on Thursday and give me the estimate. He called on Thursday and said that he couldn't come and would have to give it to me perhaps on Saturday. He called again on Saturday but he never showed up. Then the third time, he never called me at all. That did not leave a very good impression with me. They didn't give me the second estimate which they wanted to give. I would have gone with them because replacing window sills is not easy and I thought that the price they had quoted the first time was pretty fair.

The salesman handleing this estimate told me that the homeowner had a very big problem with her windows. All of the windows had very bad water rot on all of the windows sills and sub structure buck frames. The customer was crying as she explained to our salesman that she hadn't any money to do these repairs and that she had recently had some very deep personal problems. We could not honestly even consider doing this work for her as to do this project properly it would have cost over $15,000.Dollarsand the client had about $1000.Dollars to work with. These are always tough scenarios but having done literally hundreds and hundreds of projects here in SW Fla. I knew to walk away was the right thing to do. We never wrote a contract with her. We never performed any work for her.

The clients for this project inherited this home. They had mold growing in the center of a wall. The clients did not want to spend a lot of money on this project. It was explained to them that we would not be able to fix the cause of the mold but that we could repair the wall on the tight budget they set. As we are state certified mold remidiaters I elected to provide at no charge to the client free mold scrubbing equiptment during the process of completeing the wall repair. We had the job completed within 2 weeks of signing the contract. We did put up some protection but with the money the client wanted to spen my men may not have tarped the area as we would normally under regular conditions. We did everything that was written on there contract at basically cost. (no profit) The clients were told in advance that we would not be able to resolve the water issue they were having because of their budget. The customer just wanted to do as little as possible to get this house on the market. Frankly anyone buying this house will probably have this same issue again as was explained to the client. We can only do what our clients tell us what they want done. This is the case here. Tight budget. Stop gap to get it sold. The free usage of the mold processing equiptment was to satisfy on our end the very minimum of what should have been done for this home. That is why as the owner I made this happen for free. This saved them literally thousands of dollars.

After calling several companies and getting several estimates, I decided to go with Coconut Bay Construction. Matt (the owner) came over personally and looked at the job, told me what would need to be done, and then we bargained a bit on price. I thought the price was reasonable given the challenges of retrofitting a roof and the labor involved. The crew arrived exactly as arranged, and did a very professional job. The workers explained what was happening and what they were doing, and when they were done, they showed me everything they did. I was especially pleased that they cleaned up and left hardly a trace behind. Additionally, I saved nearly $1000 on my next home insurance bill because of this work, which pays for itself in a couple of years. I know Coconut Bay's main work isn't in hurricane retrofitting, but they did a great job for me and I recommend their services highly.
Description of Work: I wanted hurricane straps installed on my house (interior trusses) to lower my homeowners insurance rates. They installed 52 hurricane straps from the roof to the house.
