City of Palms Movers

Arrived at 11:30. Shannon Lovell the owner had told me that his movers would be there between 8-8:30am since I needed to give the new owner occupancy at noon. Kara, the wife of Shannon, told me that they needed to unload the truck from a previous move after I called her...not even a phone call for the tardiness! I had contracted them for the job approx. 1 month prior. Once the movers arrived I knew that they where not trained properly! .....put all my furniture in driveway with threats of rain when they had an empty garage. Not enough pads, one of the movers was going to take down my sheers(which I need to leave for the new owner) to use as a pad!!!!! I will not go into all the other details but in summary finished my move at 9:30pm without being able to get all my furniture into my home. Also much of my furniture was damaged....yes Shannon did come out weeks later(after many phone calls) with his furniture repair kit. He did a good job touch up the wood but the deep gauges in my furniture are still there.....I didn't buy furniture that has the "distressed look" The deep scratches in my newly finished hardwood floor are still there. The topper to this experience was when Billie, the driver, pulled way when I was in the house, after ripping off a wood trim from a piece of furniture and breaking my light. Oops forgot that they wanted their money EVEN BEFORE STARTING the move.

Contacted them for a moving quote. Guy was friendly and price was great. Scheduled move with them and requested confirmation of move date and insurance coverage... three times! Never received either so I was nervous about using them. Decided to pay a bit more and use someone else. Called and requested they cancel the move and call to confirm the move was cancelled... 12 documented calls later still no response. I realized they were screening my number so I used a different number and they answered right away. Confirmed they had received my many messages. When I asked why they never returned my calls she hung up on me. Two pieces of advice... 1. Pay more - you get what you pay for! 2. If they aren't reviewed on Angie's List, ask yourself if it's worth the gamble.

City of Palms Movers ? Fort Myers Florida On January 11th 2013. City of Palms Movers moved us. This was the worst moving experience we have ever ever had in our lives! The Owner Shanon Lovell and his wife are the most dishonest and unethical business owners we've ever dealt with. When the owner came to our home for the consultation we were advised that he had a full staff of movers that were a team of men he always use etc?.The day of the move they were 30 min late. They were supposed to show up at 8:00 am, instead they showed up at 8:30 am after we called to inquire where they were? The Owner (Shannon) comes into our home with two boys, they walk through our home observing what needed to be moved . Now, the funny part in all of this is that we have about 30% less furniture to move on moving day then we had at the consultation when we were given a quote of $1,075.00. Our rate was a flat rate based on the quantity of stuff needed to move. You think that when the owner walked through the house and saw that an entire bedroom suite was gone, a 7 piece dining room set was gone, and several other pieces of large furniture no longer needed to be moved along with the fact my husband moved our Chandelier, and all 5 of our large TB?s and Lamps himself, along with all of our artwork. But, no adjustment was made?OK, we can live with that. The Owner then proceeds to turn and look at my husband, and say he is leaving the two boys to move us, because he is running behind, and he has ? some elderly people to also move .? Therefore, was going to send a 3rd guy to help the other two move us ! Hummm?.we should have known then something was shady! The move was underway and many hours later still no 3rd guy showed up, and the owner still had not returned. Around 3:00pm, the owner finally shows back up?? to a**** what his boys have done thus far?, along with his wife who comes into my home, with a clipboard in hand, and advises that she was there to collect payment . When I told her I needed to get my check book, she advises that my husband was told to at the consultation that all payments are to be in cash. I told her I did not have over a thousand dollars in cash , I had a check. At which point she agreed to take the check. But asked me to make it out to her husband, instead of the check being made out to the company. We are now on strike number 5 or 6. Let?s list them: 1. Promised a crew for a 4 person job. Two guys are brought in to do the move instead with a promise of 3rd that never arrives. 2. They come 30 min late. 3. They continue to charge us for furniture that they never even moved. 4. They collect money before the move is over?well before the move is over. 5. They ask for the move to be paid for in cash. When that wasn?t available, they asked that the check be written personally out to the owner instead of the company. ****The signs were on the wall!!! They are crooks, but it get?s better!! Once the owner and his wife collects their money, the husband and his wife leave, without helping the two guys who were drowning with this move. They left stating some bull crap lie. NOTE: Still no show on the third mover. Now, while moving us the boys had nothing proper for this move. None of the furniture was wrapped ?like my cream chairs. Non of the wall corners were protected. They did not have the proper tools to slide furniture across the floor, nor tools to lift heavy furniture. They had a dolly, and their two bodies. Oh My Gosh!! They used our sofa cushions, pillows, and any other plush article we had to buffer or wedge furniture. The best part was when they said they were running out of room on the truck. I almost died. NOW I HAVE YOU KNOW IT IS NOT 5PM IN THEEVENING?they are still moving our furniture into the truck?..MY QUESTIONS? What the heck would they have done had we had the other 30% - 40% of furniture that we gave away and sold???? As the move continued on. We find out that the two guys who the owner brought in to move us; one kid was his nephew, and the other was his nephew?s friend who never moved a day in his life, and was called that morning to help them move us! We finally arrive at our new place of residence which is a 3 bedroom one store condo. These boys took forever unloading the truck; They dented up our new walls, scratched up some of our furniture. They broke a section of our 3 section bookshelf, and did not tell us this until almost the end of the night, and had the audacity to not say anything until they were moving in the 1st two pieces of the 3 pcs unit, and I had to ask where the heck is the other pieces. That is when they tell us that the kid with no moving experience ?the friend? broke it, and the owner, Shannon took it to fix it, and would bring it back the next morning?..WHAT! 1ST OFF THEY DIDN?T TELL US THEY BROKE IT, AND WHEN WAS THE OWNER GOING TO TELL US THAT HE TOOK IT TO FIX IT AND WAS PLANNING ON COMING OT OUR HOME THE NEXT DAY TO DELIVER IT??? That is because; he had no plans on bringing it back. He also wasn?t showing his face now, that he got his money!!!! At this point it was 11pm at night? are you following me. These clowns started at 8:30am it is now 11pm at night. They still had way more stuff to get off the truck, and they still had to put our beds up and everything. I had a 7am flight to Asia the very next morning. I have not slept, packed, and I am still moving furniture that only took us 2 ½ hours to move when we moved the 1st time. We are now 14 ½ hours into the move. I knew I was done when the nephew came up the steps with my white club chair on his nasty sweaty greasy head!!! OMG?I knew then I was going to just die! This move did not end until 2:30am the next morning!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!Arrrgggg.... The owner never came to apologize, he ducked and dodged us. He had the audacity to come to our home at 2:30am to pick up the guys, and would not come up. He sent his wife upstairs (what a man), my husband went to down to talk to him, and had to ask him to get out of the car. When my husband called him out on all his injustices, The owner had the audacity to try and give my husband the guilt trip, and found no reason why he should not give us back some of our money. In his eyes he moved us, so he did his part! Fast forward 4 days later, my husband left them dozens of messages, and never once did he get a call back. My husband called, because they still had not returned our book shelf!!!! My husband realized that they were hiding from him, so he called from a different number, and the wife picked up the phone. When my husband told her that they did not return our furniture, and they needed to return our furniture, and they needed to discuss giving us some of our money back. The wife got belligerent on the one, cussed my husband out told him to ?F*** off?, and slammed the phone down. Oh Wow!! You got my furniture, you botched up the move, and you are cussing us out, and slamming down phones. So, we got a lawyer, who told us to file a police report for theft, and destruction of property. And take them to small claims court. At which point we have filed the police report, and we will be filing a civil suit in small claims court. Update 3/10/12: Police department has advised that they contacted Shanon Lovell, who advised them that he was bringing our furniture back. He still has not done what he advised the police department. Mr. Lovell contacted us stating he was coming by our new home to bring our furniture back. We still have not received our furniture. We still do not have our furniture, and we are stuck with paying for the damages to the walls in the new home we are renting, because of the poor moving. NOTE: Mr. Shanon has made false accusation advising the BBB in his response to our complaint with them that he felt "threatened" which is why he has not come by to bring us our furniture, and sighting that his movers found marijuana in our sons bed room. 1. His wife is the one that cursed me out on the phone and slam down the phone on me, like I owed her something. There was never a threat to anyone with the exception of threatening to take him and his illegal company to court. 2. What the movers found in our sons bedroom was an extremely old pcs of a joint that was no more than 1/8"long, and they did not show it to us, they gave it to our son, who gave it to us. NOTE: Mr. Shanon's efforts of trying to deflect the issues on to us. We are not in this battle because of some old pcs of joint found in a bedroom, that for all we know they could have put there. So, if we want to play that game we can!!! 3. Mr. Shanon still has our furniture. He has received his payment in full,which we should have put a stop payment on, and he has made no attempt to pay us for our furniture or return our furniture. 4. We've also further read other peoples complaints about Mr. Shanons moving company. These complaints seem to be in keeping with ours. ***HE NEEDS TO BE PUT OUT OF BUSINESS, AND I AM WILLING TO DO ANYTHING TO MAKE SURE EVERYONE IS SW FLORIDA KNOWS WHO HE REALLY IS!!!
