We paid $1303.80 deposit as they promised the work would be completed before Christmas. They never showed up to do the work and did not call us. When we called them they said they would not be able to start the work until at least January and would not refund the deposit. I wish I had read all the lousy reviews on this company before paying them a deposit. We have guests coming from overseas for Christmas and the boat seats are in bad shape and we are out of pocket a lot of money.

SHORT VERSION; I ordered new canvass for my boat from Cape Coral Custom Upholstery. It took FIVE MONTHS to get a bad installation. The owners, Leslie and Mike Tarasyuk do not care about you. They just want to take your money and provide the least amount they can get away with. They have zero regard for keeping their own word. They do not care about your things and their installers trashed my boat, treating it like a piece of junk. They make no apologies for their failure to deliver when promised or for their inferior work. Instead they deny responsibility and make childish excuses. IF YOU LIKE WASTING YOUR MONEY AND DEALING WITH AGGRAVATION, YOU’LL BE HAPPY WITH THEM. Otherwise go elsewhere. ANYWHERE, BUT HERE! LONG VERSION: I ordered canvass for my boat on Jan 8, 2016. They told me the work would be done in a week or two. I did not know they farmed their work out to sub-contractors. FIVE MONTHS LATER on or about May 31st they finally did the installation. The very next day I had a puddle in the middle of the top from the rain. They sent the contractor back and they removed the top and re-sewed it, resulting in a poor fit and throwing the side curtains out of alinement. The contractor left scraps of material and footprints all over the boat. There was sticky tape residue everywhere (from when they made their patterns). My instrument panel cover and seat covers were removed and left in a pile on the deck. Straps were left just hanging from the stainless rails that support the top. Stitching was crooked in places. After the contractor re-sewed the top there were holes from where the original stitching was. Parts of the top were puckered. I of course complained about these issues. They wanted to re-sew it again and put sealer over the holes! I visited their shop just about every other day to demand they make things right. On one occasion, as I was getting to my wits end, I got loud (totally out of character for me). This resulted in the co-owner Mike thrething me physically and demanding that I leave. Finally, after I threatened to sue them they agreed to replace the top (and only the top). I have owned many, many boats in almost 50 years of boating. I have had my share of canvass work done. Every canvass person I ever spoke to told me you can match new side curtains to a top but you cannot successfully match a new top to existing side curtains. They insisted they could do this. They told me they would remove the top and make a new pattern and then return with a new top. What they did was remove the top and take it back to their shop – leaving my boat, my electronics, and my varnished teak open to the rain and Florida sun for over a week! When they removed the top they said they’d be back in a couple of days. I could not be present when they installed the new top. When I got on the boat I found more scraps laying around and a nice pile of animal feces (probably Iguana feces). When they removed the top I told them we have a lot of Iguanas on the property, up to 4 feet long, and I was concerned about them getting on the boat. However, as I’ve already stated, these folks do not care about their customers or their customers’ belongings. The new top is better than the first one but still is puckered on the edges, has gaps around the windshield and the SIDE WINDOWS DO NOT FIT. These WERE LEFT BY THEM UNSNAPPED AND UNZIPPERED because of the misfit. Weeks, and many more excuses, after they installed the top, the shop manager came out to look at the windows on July 16. He managed to get the starboard side snapped partially into place. He did this by standing on the gunwale and pushing down with all the weight and strength of his 20-something year old physical being, along with help from the hot mid-day sun. I’m 64 and cannot envision myself doing this out on the water when hit with a thunderstorm. He went back to Leslie and Mike and told them I needed new side windows. So here we are on July 26, 2016, almost eight months later and today I was informed that if I want new side windows I would have to pay for them! Are you serious? You want me to pay you to fix that which you did not do correctly in the first place????? I’m contemplating whether to go to court or keep my blood pressure from skyrocketing by letting it go and just hiring someone else to fix this mess. I own a business myself in Cape Coral and would NEVER, in a million years, treat customers like these folks do. If you would like some pictures of their horrible work email me at Dan@CapeCleaners.com Somewhere in this process they also took my old canvass. At the time of the original install, when they removed the old canvass, I rolled it up neatly and placed in on my dock. At some point, well after the original install, they took this back to their shop without my knowledge or permission. I guess they wanted to see what I originally had – I don’t know. It was old and faded but serviceable. They said they would return it. When I asked for it back Leslie told me they threw it away! It was old and faded but serviceable and I had planned to put it on eBay. I spoke to Cape Coral police and they advised me to file a criminal theft complaint. I should have, but I have a business to run and never got to follow through.

Very friendly and helpful looking for fabric - and did complete the job in the time frame promised. Of the three shops I contacted they were the only one that could complete the job in my time frame and since they've been in business for so long I went for it. I saw no reviews on them. The first fabric that I chose was discontinued (I had to call and ask about the status and that's when they found out) so I picked another. I was told it was $36 a yard. I checked the internet when I got home and I could buy the same material for $25. When I asked about the price difference - owner said that you get internet specials and this is what their price was - and so I left it at that thinking they hiked up their price for some profit. When they were ready I was told the price was now $42 a yard - and I asked why the difference and said they were previously quoted (I was in the shop when this was done) on a plain fabric and I got a textured hence the difference. There is only one Sunbrella Dupione Galaxy - so I'm not sure where the owner got this info - but I was stuck with the new fabric price. So they really jack up their fabric cost. When they delivered the cushions three of the bottom cushions were sloppy looking - had loose fabric where you sit and it was very obvious they needed more Dacron filling. They agreed. We were leaving on the boat and was asked to bring them in for more filling when I got back. They put the Dacron in and they look fine now. I was very surprised however, they left the shop looking like they did. And so were a lot of people who saw the cushions before they were done right. So if you use them make sure you check out the price of the fabric and also stick around to have them correct some possible problems.
Description of Work: Had them re-upholster existing interior boat cushions.

I found CAPE CUSTOM UPHOLSTERY, accidentally and what a breath of fresh air. They were so nice and the experience was so easy that we also ordered a cornice from them and everything was delivered and installed on time. Over the Christmas holidays we had family and friends over multiple times and had many compliments on the furniture. I now have a stack of their business cards so that when anyone asks about our experience we gladly give them a card with a glowing recommendation.
Description of Work: We had a wonderful experience with Cape Custom Upholstery . I will use them again in the future and will recommend them to everyone I know.

Description of Work: Last November Michael and Leslie Tarasyuk helped me pick out fabric and style for a 168" cornice to fit my 12' slider in the living room. They talked me into the fabric and I thought they knew what they were doing. When they put the soft cornice on my slider on 12/8/11, the colors and style of the cornice did not match my home at all and the style wasn't even the type I chose. We discussed a resolution and Leslie told us if we picked out material from 2 small fabric books, they would make a new window treatment at no cost. I decided to order the same fabric as my couch from Norris Furniture instead so it would definitely match and brought the fabric to them thinking they would use the fabric and not charge me labor. They also ordered cording that I picked out. The next day I found the cording online much cheaper and asked them to cancel the order. Mike said it was too late and it had already been shipped. Weeks later I went to their showroom to bring the material I got from Norris and to check on the cording,. Mike said it wasn't in yet and backordered. I said "how interesting that it is backordered when I thought it was cut and shipped the day it was ordered so I couldn't cancel the order." I got no response to my statement. He knew he was caught in an untruth. I finally received the new cornice with a new style I picked out. It is made well, but since they told me to order only 5 yds. of fabric, which was not enough, the back of the cornice is half green fabric and half white, which does not look well from the lanai. Also, they ordered too much cording at $23 a yd. (I could have gotten it online for $17 a yard) and I have 3 yds left over . Mike also surprised me with a labor charge of $430, which I thought I would get for free because of what Leslie indicated to me. In summary, I have a 168" cornice which cost $1500 hanging in my garage. The new cornice in my living room cost me $1166. So for a cornice over my living room slider, I ended up paying almost double of what it should have been, for a total of $2,666. I sent them a letter explaining how dissatisfied I was, but never got any response.
