3D Murphy Beds

This did not go well at all. After a 50% deposit and several weeks later, the bed was built and installed. I paid an extra $100 for crown molding on top for a nice finished look which Robby, owner and builder, stapled on so now all these little staples showed. Plus, the underside of the cabinets on each side were not painted and the bare wood showed. He promised to come back and put on 2 more doors and bring the last piece of crown molding, as we had wasted space and cover the staples. Because he was a close family friend, I paid him. DON’T EVER DO THIS, family friend or not. This has been going on since before last Christmas 2018 and he has not kept his word. He does not answer his phone anymore either. His work is good, but word is not. I would never recommend this company because of the false promises.

1) Bookcase did not stay closed 2) Main pivot point was not plumb, causing bookcase to sway open 3) Bifold hinges are not aligned, causing unbearable groaning 4) Shelves and back of bookcase were left in an unfinished/bare wood state 5) One set of pinholes for adjustable shelving was offset high by 3/4", making for crooked (unusable) shelves Narrative: Since we live a considerable distance from the provider, I requested a few samples of available finishes. The owner (Robert) promised to mail them. This request/promise circled 3 times before I finally received any samples. Then, the expected installation date began to slip. Multiple phone calls and texts ensued. Install took place Sunday EVENING 12/28/14. Upon "completion" of the install, the bookcase failed to remain closed and the hinges groaned atrociously. Since it was now near 8pm, and Robert could not "fix" the problem, he promised to mail some latches that could be used to keep the shelves in place. My husband wedged some spare wood pieces in between the bottom of the shelving and the floor to keep the bookcase from swaying open. At this point, the bookcase was inoperative, because it needed repair. Robert maintained that the problem was not the bookcase, but that the problem was with our 50 year old house. Days turned into weeks, turned into months. There were repeated promises of dates that continued to slip. Robert finally returned to resolve the problem in March 2015. In the meantime, and in addition to the unresolved problem of the unit not functioning as intended, I had expressed concern that both the bottom of the bookcase shelves and the back of the bookcase (which becomes visible with operation of the bed) were completely unfinished--raw--wood. There were even carpenter's blue pencil markings on the visible areas. I told Robert that the product had not been finished to a professional standard. He insisted that unfinished wood was simply a money saving technique used by furniture makers across the board. When Robert returned to fix the problem with the bookcase not staying closed, he brought two latches to install on the face of the bookcase to solve the problem of the swaying front. The bronze latches did not match the finish of the painted white wood. He refused to paint the back side of the bookcases, but left a gallon of paint, if we should choose to finish them ourselves. He took the shelves back to his shop with a promise to have them returned back to me within a few days. (My bookcases remained unusable.) The shelving was returned, but not within the promised time. When I began to finally use the bookcases, and started to install the adjustable shelving, I discovered that one portion of the unit had unevenly drilled holes to place the pins into to hold the shelves. Really? Yet one more issue! That is where we stand today, 5/24/15, 5 months post installation. I am frustrated and feel that we were overcharged for an inferior product. We have contacted Robert about the uneven holes. He has stated that he is very busy through August. He requested photos and has "assured" us that the problem can be resolved. We will not hold our breath.

3D Murphy Beds did a very good job. Their prices are reasonable. They are very accommodating and are very good on following up if there's any issues. They make beautiful beds. He use nice wood and heavy duty springs and they are very professional. They give you exactly what you want. Even when they came in to install the bed, they were very clean and professional. I gave them the measurements over the phone but they came down and made sure the measurements were right and talked to me about what exactly I wanted. The person who came down was very funny and personable. He was very laid back. The work they did looks 100% better than the way I imagined it. I have recommended them to others.
