In short, owner of this company installed an excellent variable pump that failed because the piping leading to our house was too small. This is something that could have been predicted before installing the pump by digging a hole and visually inspecting the size of the pipe that feeds the house (something they can also see upon installation if not beforehand). However nothing was ever mentioned to us beforehand or while they installed the pump. They should have warned us or told us the variable speed (which cost almost $2000 more than a regular pump) was not compatible with the piping to our home. This is an older house and after having the pump ($4000 or little more) installed, 2 months later it began to cycle off and on erratically and sometimes we had no water after 60 seconds of running it. This issue persisted for almost a year off-and-on with Mr. Erle attempting to adjust the controls at the variable speed control box with no permanent resolution. Ultimately, we had to call someone else in the area because Erle explained, "well you don't need me to come out there to help you guys, you called someone else, remember?" after I told him we asked for a second opinion. An experienced local corrected the issue and took the variable speed off and replaced the small holding tank with a large one. The exact same set-up we had before Erle pitched us the variable speed pump with the addition 30 ft of larger piping feeding the house which increased the pressure of the water coming through the facet.

It was awful. He overcharged me and his work was so bad that his work caused my barn to FLOOD and cost me an additional $800 to clean up his mess and he refuses to pay me for my losses. I missed a whole day's work, I had a plumber come and fix his work (after his own guy came and stopped the flooding the pump was leaking and lost and prime) and I had to rent a dumpster to dispose of my possessions that got ruined in my barn. I called Erle because he was suggested by a plumber. The booster pump in my house was making a weird noise. At this point, I didn't have a "problem". He came at 5:45pm (he works evenings and was willing to come around my work schedule) and said the booster pump was fine in the house but wanted to see the pump in the barn. He told me immediately that the bladder was blown in my old tank and pressure couldn't build up so the pump kept turning on. He told me I needed a new tank and he had one in the truck that he could put in. I asked how much, he said $633. I told him to go ahead and put it in. He removed the old one and put in the new tank (now I know he charges $633 plus $75 installation for a tank that costs less than $400 most other places). After he finished the work, he came in my house and had me sign something called a "proposal" and I paid him a check for the full amount of the work he said needed done. The next morning, my neighbor called me at work and said my barn was "gushing" water and the driveway in front of the barn looked like a lake. I immediately called Erle and got in my car to drive the 40 minute drive home. When I got there, I saw my neighbor was not at all exaggerating: the well pump in my barn was shooting water straight 4-5 feet straight up in the air all over my cabinets, boxes, stored possessions, etc. I had to wade through 7-8 inches of water to get to the barn to shut off the breaker to the pump. My barn was flooded by 3 inches of water. We moved into our house 11 months ago and I still had my children's artwork, clothing, tools, photos, all kinds of mementos and stored stuff in boxes in my barn. It was all swimming in water. Every cardboard box that was on the floor was sopping wet 12 inches up the box and everything inside was wet. I took photos and video of the flood. Jason, Erle's guy, didn't come for about 2 hours and during that time, I cried and swept water out of the barn. My mom came to help me and for the next 6 hours, we went through every box in my barn and picked through my life's mementos piece by piece to see if it could be saved. Jason came and said that a timer had gone bad so he put in new PVC to fix it. He told me that Erle wanted to charge me for parts but Jason didn't. Jason was in my barn; he walked in the water; he saw the destruction that Erle caused; he saw me and my 65 year old mother hauling sodden clothes, papers, countless ruined books... The next morning, I went back to the barn and shut off the pump at the breaker because I didn't want to come home to another flood. Good thing I did. While I was at work, another piece of PVC leaked and the pump had no prime so we had no water in the house. I emailed Erle and told him I had a plumber coming the next day to fix a few other things in the house and did HE want to come fix my complete lack of water or should I have the plumber do it and Erle could pay me back? Erle did not even respond. The plumber cost $160 to fix Erle's work. The dumpster cost $299 to throw away my ruined cabinets, books, papers, art work, mementos. My lost day of work cost me $160. I asked Erle to reimburse me for the money that HIS crappy work cost me and he argued with my brother and lied to my brother. He told my brother that he told me that the timer was bad and needed to be replaced which is an absolute LIE. Before Erle came to my house, I didn't have a "problem", I had a funny noise in the house. If he had told me the timer was bad, I would have told him to replace it! I trusted him as the "expert" to help me prevent a problem from ever happening. I don't know about wells and pumps so I called Erle. I would have had him replace whatever he said needed replacing. He even charged me for "misc. parts" on his "proposal". A "proposal" is the work you suggest doing to complete the job to the highest standard; his proposal is a new tank, a service call charge, installation fee and misc. parts. If something else needed doing, he should have told me. He didn't. Erle owes me a bare minimum of $620 to repay me for a plumber, a dumpster and a lost day's work to clean up the destruction he caused in my barn. I would never recommend him to anyone and plan to tell everyone I know who has a well to never use him. He is a liar and a thief.

A variable speed pump was installed on our property in 2010 by the owner of Technical Pump, Erle Bishop, and his crew. This was the second time Erla installed a pump on our property. We live on a small five acre farm, have horses, an irrigation system, and live in a 3 story home. This 2nd pump was necessary to replace the previous one Erle installed that was hit by lightening (it was only two years old .. and it was a standard pump that worked fine... nothing unusual.) Our water supply provides water to 7 horses, 4 dogs, an irrigation system around the house (not the entire property), and 3 story home. The horses need to receive water while the washer machine is on, and someone taking a shower needs water supply whether the washer machine is on or if the sprinkler outside is watering the plants in a small area. We were going to go with the same pump we had previously when Erle presented to us the concept of a variable speed pump. He said it was the best choice for our needs and explained it was something we'd be better of using and said we could try it out for a month before deciding to buy it. We had never known what a variable speed pump was before this and after we tried it out we liked the pressure it provided. After initial installation Erle made a SECOND VISIT to our home TO SWITCH OUT our 80 gallon tank for a 20 gallon tank explaining it was necessary for the needs of our water demand that the set-up be more efficient with a 20 gallon tank rather than the 80 gallon we had. He also collected payment for the system he installed and refunded us for the switching out of the tank. His prices are good and he was fair about it. About ONE MONTH AFTER the switch from the 80 gallon tank to the 20 gallon tank we notice a pressure problem that turned into a larger issue where the water would completely shut off for a period of 15 seconds during a 60 second interval while taking showers. Which means a person would be standing in the shower waiting for water to pour out the facet for 15 seconds without any water while soap sat on their face or in their hair and sure enough every 60 seconds to the count down this occurred. Showers were interesting for a while. We called Mr. Bishop out to help but he did not figure out the issue at that time and we were charged for his visit. The issue persisted for about 3-4 months until something was finally done about it where he came out again and figured it was the pressure settings and so tweaked them to compensate the issue. He did not charge for that. However the adjustment he made created another problem where the pump began to cycle on and off rather than a steady cycle in order to compensate for faulty pressure settings set by Mr. Bishop... but Mr. Bishop likes to say it was his cousin who messed up the settings and we all know regardless of who it was does not matter, what matters is that it gets fixed.. which never happened. LET ME EXPLAIN SOMETHING IMPORTANT.....WATER PUMPS ARE SUPPOSED TO CYCLE STEADILY. THE CREATION OF DIFFERENT PUMPS AND THEIR POWER ABILITY IS TO MAKE ANY PARTICULAR PUMP CYCLE STEADY AND EFFICIENTLY TO MEET WATER NEEDS THE BEST IT CAN TO MAINTAIN THE LIFE OF THE PUMP. A PUMP THAT CYCLES ERRATICALLY BURNS OUT THE LIFE OF THE PUMP DUE TO FRICTION OF THE GEARS AND WEAR AND TEAR OF TURNING ON AND OFF AGAIN IN SHORT PERIODS OF TIME THAT CONTRADICT A NORMAL WORKING SYSTEM WHERE THE PUMP SHOULD STAY ON FOR LONGER PERIOD OF TIME BEFORE KICKING OFF AND ON AGAIN . Is that common sense? Are all license pump men supposed to know this? Then why would a licensed pump man take no action to find a concrete solution after this issue was made apparent on 4-5 different occasions. The truth of the matter is the variable speed pump did not belong on our property and it is our best assumption that Mr. Bishop must have mistaken his calculations as far as this pumps efficiency for our needs. We spent $4,000.00 on the pump and it was always in our best interest to work with Mr. Bishop to have it repaid or the settings fixed. But after so many visits, 4-5, and problem after problem, and then when he skipped an appointment without notifying us we finally decided to talk to someone with more experience about the issue. We ended up using services from a retired pump man in the Brooksville area who knows Erle Bishop very well and describes him as a "good Christan man." It was left at that and we paid this man to have our 20 gallon tank switched out back to the eighty gallon tank and he took the variable speed device off of the pump so it would not trigger an "on" and "off" again cycle. Our new settings work out great. The pressure is fine and we can take a shower and run the sprinkler without any problems. My only question is for Mr. Bishop.... Why didn't you do the right thing and just be real with us about a mistake when you had the chance> We would have accepted that and paid you to switch out to the 80 gallon and taken off the variable switch. At least now the pump will last longer than 5 years and it is not cycling off and on like it was before. This has probably saved us thousands of dollars.
Description of Work: Erle Bishop installed a variable speed pump about three years ago in 2010 and before than he installed a standard pump that was hit by lightening which was on the property for two years before its replacement. In the end after many attempts from Mr. Bishop to correct his faulty settings (password protected and only he had the password), we had to call out another pump man with more experience who took efforts to conserve what's expected to be left of the life of the pump after pressure problems and inconsistent erratic cycling off and on for 2.5 to three years of failed attempts with Mr. Bishop . Cost of pump $4,000.00.. end result is another pump man replaced the 20 gallon tank with an 80 gallon and took off the variable speed control panel. (pump man who helped us is retired and well known to the Brooksville area)

They were excellent. They had to dig the well deeper and redo it all and they were very good. We spent about $1200 the last time we used them. The job went excellent overall. We would tell others that the guy that came and did the work was very, very good. He came at about 7.30 or 8 and just stayed with it and he must have worked about 12 hours that day to try and get the work done because we really did not have any water. He was very punctual and we knew that he knew what he was doing and he also had all the biggest equipment to do the job right.
Description of Work: We used Technical TCB Pump Services on the 16th of April 2010 and they fixed some of our sprinklers and that also included checking the pump.

They did a good job, however they charged me $80 for the labor and $189 for the part, which I thought was high. They were on time and very responsive, but the price was too high and because of that, especially the price for the part, I wouldn't recommend them to others.
