Description of Work: I own a home in a premier over-55 mobile home park. The folks in this park are constantly complaining about excessive charges and quotes fromlocal contractors hired to do various jobs. I feel that I have seriously been taken advantage of in this case. Had I been at my home (instead of the person who was there to open the house for the contractor) at the time the services were performed I would not have had any of these services performed. The following services were performed:Replace a porch wall lighting fixture (owner supplied)Wire a single switch to a box containing the connections for a ceiling fan on porch (switch + plate= less than $10) Re-wire a double switch to a single dimmer switch (owner supplied dimmer) Test one wall receptacle and re-attach loose connection Test unused ceiling light fixture and old exhaust fan to determine if the connections were "live" Dispatch fee $49?? (a list of all services desired was previously emailed to the contractor) Total cost $372 (Bill for services was itemized but no details as to price per service) Work quoted but not performed: Quote to replace existing ceiling light fixture with owner supplied ceiling fan and joist brace for ceiling fan ($150 ) Quote to install owner supplied kitchen under counter lighting ($175)-Company had already installed wiring for those lighting fixtures. Quote to bring existing wiring in 10x12 shed up to code: $599 Quote to install 2nd exterior light slaving off an existing light: $587

+ -1 moreBRUCE, THE OWNER, WAS FANTASTIC. HE WAS PROFESSIONAL, PROMPT, COURTEOUS, AND COMPETENT. HE REPLACED THE MAIN BREAKER IN THE HOUSE AFTER THREE OTHERS HAD FAILED TO EVEN FIND THE PART. I HIGHLY RECOMMEND GILLIS AND WOULD USE THEM AGAIN IN A SECOND. ESPECIALLY IN FLORIDA, WHERE RIP-OFFS ARE ALL TOO COMMON, IT WAS A RELIEF TO HAVE GILLIS FIX THE PROBLEM IN A TIMELY MANNER. TWO OTHER ELECTRICIANS CLAIMED THAT THEY COULD FIND THE BREAKER, BUT NEVER PRODUCED...AND HAD QUOTED A PRICE OF ABOUT THREE TIMES WHAT GILLIS CHARGED.
Description of Work: REPLACING THE MAIN BREAKER (150 AMP) IN THE HOUSE. GILLIS ALSO HAD TO HUNT DOWN A HARD-TO-FIND PART, BUT DID IT IN A DAY FOR ABOUT 1/3 THE PRICE OTHERS HAD QUOTED.
