The issue has not been resolved. I contracted with Window Decor and Designs for 9 Hunter Douglas fauxwood blinds for windows, so stated on the signed order contract and invoice. These blinds were in addition to window treatments for other windows. After two months, a problem developed with one of the blinds and it was taken to a Hunter-Douglas dealer for repair, as instructed by a phone call to the Hunter Douglas Co. I was told by the repair establismnent that this was not a Hunter-Douglas product, but a Vista product blind, and could not be repaired under a Hunter-Douglas warranty. I was advised by several dealers that the Vista Product was a much lower price-point than a Hunter-Douglas blind. Upon contacting the owner of Window Decor & Designs regarding this "bait & switch", I was told that Hunter-Douglas actually bought Vista Products a few years ago, so Vista Products was a "branded" product. He added that "as Chevrolet is a GM brand, so now is Vista Products a Hunter-Douglas brand". Upon contacting Hunter-Douglas again, their Consumer Affairs Dept advised "Vista is a totally different company, with it's own product, own company, own warranty". They said the product was not covered under a Hunter-Douglas warranty (and should not be advirtised as a Hunter-Douglas product). Of course, I originally contracted for the Hunter-Douglas blinds based upon their name, warranty and reputation of the Hunter-Douglas brand. I had never heard of a Vista brand blind and would not have purchased them based upon no knowlwdge. My contract plainly states the brand as "Hunter-Douglas". I asked Window Decor & Designs to replace the Vista Product with the more expensive Hunter-Douglas blind as contracted, but they refused. To this date, there has been no further contact from Window Decor & Designs. I did file a complaint with the Better Business Bureau but Window Decor & Designs refused to participate in BBB arbitration. Using the Window Decor & Designs owner's analogy, a Chevrolet and a Cadillac are both "GM vehicles", but I contracted & paid for a Cadillac, not a Chevrolet, and he delivered a Chevrolet, pretending it was a Cadillac. (in my opinion) You may wonder why I did not see this upon installation, but the only label on the blind is in the very top header, not visible unless the blind is taken down from the window. The blinds were not in boxes when brought into the house for installation so I did not see a brand name upon a box. I will certainly be more suspicious in the future, and urge others to be, as well.
Description of Work: Switched products. I contracted for a specific brand and they installed an inferior brand, unknown to me. I did not find out about the switch until repairs were needed two months later.

The install in our master bathroom was done poorly as they screwed them to the wall and they were crooked. All they had to do was create a notch and they told me that they would not help me in correcting the work. The blind has warped over time since it does not fit right. They did not stand behind their work. They were supposed to put a blind to cover our sliding glass door and they did not put in a deluxe frame which we had ordered with the installation. I would not recommend using them in the future.
Description of Work: They installed plantation Hunter Douglass shutters.

lousy, but read above details
Description of Work: Decor put up some vertical blinds. Decent job. I paid for job. Decor had to come back only once to repair screws dropping out of valance. Decor came to install bathroom shade (simple shade and valance). One week later shade would not go up and down and screws fell out. I removed the shade and looked up at the shade brackets (very simple/two screws). Obviously the technician who installed the brackets had mismeasured or was given the wrong measurements since he had to put cardboard between the bracket and the inside of the window (have a picture of this if necessary). Decor came out once more and measured another room for verticals and the woman clearly did not know what she was doing, to wit, she did not think the verticals would pass over the door handles--easily solved by bumping out the bracket, done by my friend and contractor for $50.00 (purchased at Lowes) as opposed to an estimate from Decor ($250 or more). Decor insisted on coming back to fix mistakes. I said I preferred a refund. Peggy Carlozzi said that was not an option. I asked to speak to the so called CEO, Chet Sarnowski. I explained I wanted a refund for the shade and I would take it from there. I told him that the work he had just done for me was incompetent. Besides his technician was two hours late. Mr Sarnowski refused my request for a refund in the most arrogant and belligerent manner. Mr Sarnowski does not entertain criticism; he is rude and condescending as is his associate Peggy Carlozzi who called me yesterday to say that my papers had been filed ( I take it sent to the dead letter office/remember Melville's Bartleby). The subtext of Carlozz's call should be seen as my punishment for labeling Decor incompetent--which they are. Jules Seigel

This is a total distortion of the facts, unfortunately people can write anything they want. The shade in question isn't ours, she purchased from another company and thinks its us, we went to her home to help her when we realized the blinds weren't ours she got mad. Description of Work: They installed plantation shutters for windows and vertaglides for our doors. The biggest problem came when they tried to install a vertiglide in the bedroom. The installer hit the electrical line on the top of the door knocking out the electric in most of the house. We needed to call a electrician and a paint and wall repair contractor to repair the problem and cost of the damage was. $1800. When confronting the company they explained that the damage was caused by electric work that was out of code. I contacted the electrician who did the work and he informed us that the wiring was in code all the way. They refused to pay any money for the repairs and we will be taking them to small claims court for the money that was paid out to repair the damage to the house.

This customer is trying to blame us for faulty wiring done by whomever built this house. It clearly is against code to lay an uncovered wire on the top of window jamb hidden by the drywall. The customer is lucky that our installer did not get electrocuted. Their repair bill was about $300 not the $1800 they say. We asked that the repairman call us and the customer would not let us know who did the repairs. Chet Sarnowski Window Decor & Designs

The sales representative did an excellent presentation. I explained that I could only afford treatments for two main rooms, but planned to complete the other rooms in 2009. I also told him I needed to reuse the plantation blinds in other rooms. He was not pushy, respected my decision, and provided additional customer service. The installer also did a terrific job. I am extremely happy with my plantation shutters and already told the representative that I look forward to having more installed this year.
Description of Work: Replace plantation blinds in living and media rooms with plantation shutters. Transfer plantation blinds in other rooms that had narrow metal blinds (extra customer service).
