Janos is a true artist! I have hired him to refinish and repair floors in two different 1920’s homes and they both turned out absolutely beautiful! He was able to replace pieces of the damaged floor and blend it in to the original so that it is seamless. He brought new life back into those original wood floors and they look incredible. He pays attention to every detail and communicates every concern / question / etc. to make sure that everything was exactly as I wanted. I would recommend him in a heartbeat! And if I ever need more work done, he will be my first call!

We are repeat customers of Janos Kovacs, owner of Sweet Home Improvements LLC. He has done a wonderful job for us in two different houses, in 2013 and again in 2017. We are very happy with his services and if we have any other projects where we can use his expertise, we are sure to ask him to do the work for us. Specifically, we had Janos in 2013 do oak hardwood floating floor installation in entire 2nd floor, approximately 1200 sq feet. He did a superb job at a reasonable price. He recommended and advised us on getting optimum oak flooring and underlay, installed the flooring with meticulous care, on time and on budget. Again in 2017 we had Janos install ceramic tile in two different houses. On both projects he again provided wise advice, helped us optimize our selection, then provided meticulous installation, including concrete foundation underfloor leveling to assure that the ceramic tile floor is smooth, level, and consistent. Finally, he also installed bamboo flooring with same excellent results. Highly recommended for his high quality craftsmanship.

Sweet Home Improvements has done two jobs for us in the past year. The first to replace the carpeting in two bedrooms with Bamboo and the second to replace the carpeting in the master bedroom along with retiling the shower in the master bathroom. Janos Kovacs is the owner and operator of Sweet Home Improvements and does world class work and is an even nicer person. Janos takes great pride in his work. His craftsmanship and knowledge are superb. He also takes time to explain why he is doing things a particular way. On our first project he expressed concern regarding installing bamboo and explained what we had to be careful about in purchasing the flooring We had previously had bamboo installed in our living area, so already knew what to be concerned with, but it was reassuring to hear it from him prior to signing the contract. The installation of the floating floors was done quickly and looks great. Even better, is the quality of the work he did in the master shower. While not the largest shower, the care he took in all phases shows. The shower has an accent along the wall and the tile was approximately 1/8" thinner than the rest of the tile. I did not realize it, but Janos noticed it right off and explained how he would ensure that the accent tile was glued to be flush with the rest of the tile. Beyond the excellence of the work done, Janos is great in communicating, is timely in arrival and fastidious in cleaning up before leaving for the day. I will gladly use Sweet Home Improvements for any project I have in the future

Janos did a fantastic job on our floors. They look better than new. He was thorough and meticulous. He and his helper put up plastic sheeting to protect the rest of our home from dust. He carefully sanded the hardwood floor. He got up some staining. He then applied 4 coats of finish. He was prompt and professional. Definitely recommend him, and would hire again.

Excellent!. For future carpentry work we will not use any other contractor. Mr. Kovacs very is meticulous and only does his work the right way. It is rare to find a contractor that still has an old school work ethic as is the case with Mr. Kovacs.

Oleg did an excellent job even with Hurricane Irma on the way!! He was on time, helpful reasonable priced and went above & beyond when a problem was found. The bathroom turned out great! I love it! I have a few more jobs to be done and will be calling Oleg to do them. I would highly recommend him!

Janos of SWI did an absolutely superb job. He was communicative, his price was fair and he was meticulous and thorough in the installation. The new vinyl plank flooring required a little more finesse than typical laminate, and Janos was an absolute craftsman in laying the floor flawlessly. In addition to his skillful workmanship, Janos was a pleasure to be around. He was punctual, worked tirelessly, and left the house in immaculate condition. And the floor looked great! I would not hesitate to recommend Sweet Home Improvements for anyone's flooring job and look forward to contracting with Janos for our next job. Janos is a homeowner's dream come true!! He is incredibly responsive, professional and knowledgeable. He's also very talented craftsman having come up with some creative solutions to some challenges with my floor plan and project. I was very comfortable leaving Janos with my house key. My home looks beautiful and I saved thousands and have a higher quality product compared to the prices from the all-in-one flooring stores. Janos was chosen due to his rating on Angie's List. He responded to our email very quickly and gave us an estimate much lower than the other companies we contacted. Janos gave us advice on where to shop for our laminate and what to buy. He installed the laminate in 1 day and the room looks amazing. Janos is very experienced and professional. We have had many laminate installations over the years and this was by far the best install ever. We are already planning more projects with Janos.

Honestly, we cannot praise Janos enough. He is a really high quality professional. Janos and Sweet Home Improvements are the best of numerous good service providers we have found on Angie's List. Janos gave us a very competitive estimate for tiling the front and back Lanais, and preparing for and installing a wood floor. We couldn't be happier. Janos actually gave us a great recommendation for the wood we eventually bought (it wasn't available for us to see in our area), did a great job tearing out and removing the old carpet, and put the tile down tremendously well. Janos went well above and beyond what he could have provided, and his workmanship is tremendous. I will use him again whenever we can!

We worked together long distance since I had not moved into my home. He was professional, helpful, and I was sent updates and pictures while the work was in progress. I couldn't recommend anyone more. They did a great job and everything went perfectly.

We had some areas of floor that were lifting. Janos used some left over boards and did an excellent repair. He was on time and tidy. It was a pleasure to work with Janos who was professional and personable.

Janos was very professional, prompt, and great to work with. He came in and did a top notch repair with the left over pieces from the original install when our house was built 12 years ago, managed to use every scrap possible. He cleaned up his mess, and when he was done the repair blended in seamlessly to our existing floor. I would call him in a heart beat to come back for any other repairs or refinishing.

The guy was fabulous and he’s a real craftsman. His quote was right on, there wasn’t a dime extra. We had a change order and there was no extra charge for it. He came out and initially gave us the estimate. He made another special trip to come out and look at the samples of wood that we had picked to tell us whether or not he thought they were high quality wood. He also gave us the name of a floor dealership where their prices were phenomenal. It was so much better than the big box stores. The experience was great. He ripped up the old tile and the old carpet and then disposed off everything. Everything was completely taken care of. We didn't look at anybody else for price but we thought the price was very reasonable for the amount of work that he did. He was on time the day he said he was coming and on the day he said he would be done, he was done about 3 or 4 hours before.

Janos was everything that the reviews here stated he was. He was cheerful, more than cooperative, honest, hard-working and friendly to work with. We asked 5 different vendors to bid on our project but Janos was the only one who promised to do the final work himself. (All the others -- Lumber Liquidators, etc. -- said they hired sub-contractors to do work like ours.) His cost estimate was about half of Lowe's quoted cost and he worked very hard to win our confidence. When the first load of flooring ($4,100) arrived from Lowe's he pleaded with us to return it because it was cheezy. He said he'd install it if we wanted but predicted it wouldn't hold up. We gave it to him and he returned it. When the second load arrived (from another vendor) he and his father went to work and installed everything in something like 3 days. He had even saved the molding and the quarter-rounds (which other vendors told us would need to be replaced) and installed them back the way they were originally. The two of them worked quietly and very neatly, down to the point of stacking the ripped-out wood neatly in the back of his truck, which he then took to the dump on his own. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend him for any job around the house. He's the real deal.

Janos is fantastic and his craftsmanship is outstanding. He is a true, skillful master. He is exceptionally knowledgeable and professional, always smiling. Our floor was ruined by another contractor who put a bunch of poly on it, without realizing that it was an engineered floor with special finish, which does not take poly. As a result, the floor looked like it was covered by splotches of shiny spots and dull rubbed off areas. When Janos started to work on it, it was like magic. We could see that he takes a lot of pride in his work. He was treating our floor as if it was his own. Because the floor boards did not have a thick layer of wood to work with he took his time and was extra careful. It took him a whole week to finish about 1,000 sq ft of flooring. He never rushed, never tried to cut corners. His execution was methodical and well thought out. He was able to match the color we wanted exactly and made the texture come out like we would have never expected. Thank you so much for all your hard work and our beautiful like-new floor!

Janos went above and beyond. The job turned out to be bigger than anticipated but he tackled each new problem with a cheerful, professional attitude. (I have actually hired him to redo the floors in the rest of the house. Unfortunately, I had just had them refinished in the fall of 2012. The men who did it then could be described as the exact opposite of Janos in terms of skill, attitude, and professionalism.) Janos is very personable, very professional, and has an extremely high skill level and work ethic. It is very hard to find ethical, skilled people. Janos is a treasure! The kitchen and laundry room floors are beautiful!!!

I had my old countertop of laminate removed and a new granite countertop installed. When they removed the old countertop they ripped a big hole in my dry wall above the counter, near the sink, where I had an electrical outlet. At first, my husband and I thought we could install the back splash ourselves (we had done one many years ago). But when we looked at the hole in the wall, we knew we would need professional help. I called Sweet Home Improvements, and Janos came. saw what needed to be done and measured out the job for me. He also gave me an estimate for the job, including repair of the wall. I purchased the back splash tiles, adhesive and grout. Janos came exactly on time on the day the job was to start and proceeded to repair the wall. It was not an easy job, but when he was finished, you could not tell, there had been a problem. He also noticed that the granite counter for my barstool eating area was pulling the wall away because of its weight. He secured this wall as well. He then proceeded to install the tiles and accent pieces as we discussed. He worked cleanly, quietly and very professionally. The job turned out even better than I had envisioned it. I would recommend Janos to anyone who desires quality work, done on time and done on estimate. It was a pleasure to work with him.

Janos was a pleasure to work with. When issues came up and there were decisions to be made, he was very helpful. Janos and his team were very professional and got the job done in a timely manner. THE FLOORS LOOK BEAUTIFUL! Janos went beyond my expectations. He painted the baseboards for me, and did not charge me.

From the first phone call that I had with Janos, I knew it was going to be a good experience. He was very close with his verbal estimate on price, and he showed up the next day to review the job. Janos and his colleague were extremely polite, on time and very organized. They worked through the weekend, and each time the finished for the day, the room was cleaned, the tools were organized and they were sure to keep us up to date. We have had a lot of renovations on our home, and this was by far the best experience we have had yet.
