St. John plumbing was called to address a problem with standing water in my basement. After performing an initial survey, they told me that the sump pump was bad. I questioned this, because they had replaced the very same pump only 2 years earlier. Wayne, their "Master Plumber" told me he was 100% confident that the sump pump was the problem and that there was no warranty left on the pump that they had just replaced. I agreed to let Wayne replace the sump pump for the quoted price of $365.00. I later got a call from Wayne who now told me that the bill was going to be $465.00 because the job was tougher than he thought - the same job that he personally performed only 2-years prior. Ok, fine, I paid the excessive fee assuming that the problem was resolved. That very night we had severe thunderstorms and my basement completely flooded. After looking into it, the problem was actually a blocked drain line. The sump pump that they had replaced was still in working order. They obviously mis-diagnosed the problem. Ok, everyone can make a mistake. I called Wayne to let him know what happened and he told me he would look into it and then get back to me. He never called me back. I placed (4) follow-up calls and still no response. I eventually filed a complaint with my credit card company and had the charges reversed. After filing the claim and getting my money back, Wayne was then suddenly willing to talk to me. But "talk" wouldn't actually be a correct term. Wayne and his wife Darcy screamed at me like a couple of irate lunatics about how angry they were that I reversed the credit card charges. When I asked them why they didn't return my phone calls - they just blew it off and said they wouldn't have done anything for me anyway, so what does it matter. This company is absolutely horrible and has no integrity! I will never use them again - Beware of "Sump Pump Wayne" - he truly doesn't know what he is doing and refuses to take any responsibility for his actions. I am in the process of filing a complaint with the Better Business Bureau to try to prevent them from doing this to other potential customers. Stay away from St. John Plumbing at all costs!!!!

First of all, [member name removed] is not a plumber and does not understand how drain lines or sump pumps work. We were called by [member name removed] saying that their sump pump was not working. I looked up their bill and saw that they had just purchased the sump pump 2 years prior. Unfortunately, there is only a one year warranty on sump pumps. [member name removed] informed me that the tenant had to leave in an hour for an appt. I told [member name removed] that Wayne and I had to run some errands and that Wayne would go there and take a look at it and see if it wasnt just the plug or something simple. Usually sump pumps last about 4 years but there are times when they go out sooner. Wayne and I went to the Kisala's rental property and Wayne checked out the sump pump thoroughly. Yes, the sump pump was indeed not working and the motor had burned up on it. Wayne immediately called [member name removed] on the phone, I was sitting in the car right next to him when he told [member name removed] that the sump pump was burned up and needed to be replaced. Wayne gave him a price of $ 465.00 at that time which is the normal price we charge for a new sump pump. (reading [member name removed] comments on here, he said we gave him a price of $ 365.?? That never happened! And we never told him that we had to charge him more because the job was tougher than we thought. It was always $ 465. !) M[member name removed] gave us the ok to change the sump pump. Later that afternoon, our employee went to the rental property and changed the sump pump when the tenant was there. At no time when Wayne was there or when our employee Jake was there, was there any standing water in the basement. At no time were we ever told anything about a blocked drain line. When Jake left the house, the sump pump was in correct working condition and operating the way it should. Wayne called [member name removed] and told him the work was completed and the charge was $ 465. [member name removed] gave Wayne a credit card over the phone to pay for it. Two days later, [member name removed] called and talked to Wayne, screaming and yelling at him. He told Wayne his tenant was doing laundry and the basement started flooding and [member name removed] had to go there and unplug the laundry drain line. [member name removed] wanted his money back for the sump pump and Wayne told him NO, because we did what we were hired to do. We replaced his burned out sump pump with a new sump pump. There is nothing wrong with the sump pump that we installed. If it was raining and the basement flooded, the overflow rain would go directly into the pit and the sump pump would pump it out. That is how we know the problem with the basement flooding was the laundry line being clogged with lint. We were never told about this and the tenant should have been using some type of lint filter to prevent this. If we were told this was a problem in the beginning, we could have cleared the laundry drain line for an additional charge. We have no way of knowing this if we are not told, we are not psychic. After Wayne told him we would not refund his money, [member name removed] kept calling and yelling and screaming at us. Every time Wayne tried to talk to him, [member name removed] would just talk over him. [member name removed] did try to reverse the credit card charges, and the credit card company sided with us. He did not get his money back. We are very sorry [member name removed] was unhappy with our service, but he has a brand new sump pump which is still working correctly to this day and he thinks we should give him his money back?? I would suggest [member name removed] quit spreading lies about us and watch what he says about us before we file a defamation lawsuit against him. To publicly claim that Wayne does not know what he is doing, when he has 30 years of plumbing experience is defamation of character! [member name removed] does not have a plumbing license. Wayne tried to explain to him numerous times, how the sump pump had nothing to do with the basement flooding. The rain had nothing to do with the basement flooding. The flooding was due to the laundry drain line being clogged with lint! The two things are not related! Two totally different issues! When you try to talk to someone who wont listen and just screams and yells at you, why should you call back? Wayne talked to him at least 4 times and every time it was the same thing. There is just no reasoning with [member name removed]. Sincerely, Darcy Spiekhout, President, ST. JOHN PLUMBING SERVICE, INC.

On the holiday weekend, all three of our toilets backed up and we needed plumbing service now! I called several plumbers on Sunday, 12/23/12 and reached three voicemails, one that was scheduled on 12/27/12 and then I reached St. John Plumbing Service. The owner was responsive, took time on the phone for me to check a few things for him to help diagnose the issue and then said he'd get someone out there that afternoon. When the employee arrived, he checked the main line, clean outs and pipes. He was extremely knowledgable and diagnosed the problem as the toilet design, Gerber was the make and they had issues with poor flushing in toilets made in the early 2000s, which is when our house was built. I was provided some suggestions and recommendations, a written quote and they came out on the next day to install all three toilets. The work was done in approximately 3 hours. Thanks St. John Plumbing Service. They are now scheduled to replace my aging hot water heater.
Description of Work: Diagnosed plumbing backup and installed three new toilets.

I called to complain because they wanted to charge me $350.00! I got it down to $250.00, but I think it?s so unfair. He told me he was here for two hours, but it?s his fault. He should have done it right the first time and made sure it worked instead of taking his stuff down. Plus, my brother even helped him unload and load his stuff!
Description of Work: They came to rod out my sewer line. The guy put the stuff back in and we flushed our toilet but it was still plugged up so he did it again and charged me twice!

THE GUYS WERE REALLY NICE BECAUSE THEY CLEANED UP ALL OF THE WATER THAT WAS ON THE FLOOR. THEY DIDN'T CHARGE TOO MUCH MORE FOR COMING AFTER HOURS, EITHER. THIS WAS THE FIRST TIME I USED THIS COMPANY, BUT I THINK I WILL KEEP USING THEM.
Description of Work: THEY REPLACED A BURST PIPE IN MY BASEMENT.
