We have used Rayco several times for electrical work inside and outside our house. We have used them to connect our pool heater, install additional outlets, bathroom fans and light switches. They arrive on time, are very professional and pleasant to deal with, quickly get right to work and charge a reasonable price for the work they do. We would use them again and have recommended them to friends.

Very quick and professional work resulting in safe installation. Needed to replace a number of old light switches and outlets with new ones in various rooms. Efficiently did this work so that each item did not take long to install, allowing for many to be done within a couple of hours. Easy to deal with from standpoint of making appointment. No problem using Angie's coupon. I will be using them again for some other electrical jobs in the future.

Jeremy and Randy arrived exactly when I was told they would. They got right to work and worked without a break for about 4 hours. Jeremy checked with me whenever there was a decision to be made on the installation. and he suggested that I have a whole house surge protector installed, which I did. A good bargain, since I didn't have to pay for an additional trip charge. They were conscientious, hard working, pleasant, and the fans look great and work perfectly. When I called to request an estimate, my call was answered right away, AND I was able to schedule an appointment. I didn't have to pay phone tag, AND the bill was less than the estimate! I will definitely use them whenever I have electrical work to be done.

Breaker would not reset. Thought problem solved first visit but breaker blew again - called and a service team was out within the hour. No questions asked. The team was thorough. The technician named Scott was very professional. Clearly knew what steps had to be taken to trouble shoot the problem. Went step by step and through process elimination was able to detect and solve the issue. I was very impressed. The business handled themselves with integrity and professionalism. I would recommend. And specifically I would recommend the service technician Scott. Thank you.

This is a response to the company response since I am unable to do that in my original review. I will not post any further responses to this matter and only felt that this was necessary because Rayco insinuated that there was a safety issue and that this was somehow the customers fault. Hopefully, my experience is the exception and corrective action will be taken regarding training the service technicians who make initial contact with the customer. Rayco Response: Due to safety concerns for the home owners and based on the information provided to us by the home owners the FPL tag had to be cut in order to open the box and access the problem. The meter was burnt.- Not true. The meter was brand new. FPL replaced it before we purchased the house. The issue is that the panel cover has a hole in it. Regarding 'safety concerns' according to FPL the only time the tag can be cut is in an emergency situation. If that were the case Rayco should have informed FPL of their action before doing anything and not tried to "hide" the freshly cut tag by bending it back in shape and making it look like it was not cut before leaving the property.Rayco Response: The home owner was informed that we would return to the office and send them a quote to repair the meter. The Home Owner in turn was to send us a copy of an inspection report that listed other electrical items that needed repairs. We tried contacting the homeowner the next day to add the additional items to the quote but they did not return our call. We never received the report. - Really? So after something was done improperly on my property that can get ME fined I should waste both Rayco's time and mine buy continuing to pursue a quote. That does not make any sense.Rayco Response: This review is SLANDEROUS.- The definition of slander is that an untruth has been told. The review is accurate and I have witnesses. The evidence of the cut tag is at my house. Regarding the permit issue I will now put in what I left out before. The service tech said and I quote, "We may have a panel cover that size laying around the shop. If so, you don't need a permit, we can just replace it."How this should have been handled. - Retrain all service representatives about exactly what they are and are not able to do. (Ex: Don't cut FPL tags. If you feel it is necessary due to a safety concern call FPL first and inform them BEFORE you take action. ) Then post a response on Angies list informing the public that regrettably an mistake was made and the corrective action that has been taken to prevent future issues like this from happening again. In other words take responsibility for the actions of your employees and take corrective actions to prevent them from happening again. Had that been the response I may have given Rayco a chance to redeem themselves and chalked it up to "sometimes well intentioned people just make mistakes" and pursued the quote. FYI: These are the FPL rules for all interested. I put a * on the ones broken.FPL normally performs both the disconnect and reconnect. In certain cases however, the Customer's licensed and qualified electrical contractor is allowed, at his option, but only when approved by FPL, to perform the disconnect on overhead services only, when the following criteria are met:- The Customer shall be a residential or small commercial facility with a main line switch rating of 300 Amps or less, served by an FPL single phase overhead service. No three phase service shall be disconnected by an electrical contractor. FPL must disconnect all three phase services to ensure that proper phase rotation is maintained.- FPL service attachment point at the building or structure shall remain intact. No service shall be removed from the attachment point or the attachment point altered in any way.*- The meter socket(s) must not have an FPL locking device installed.- If multiple meters are involved, the electrician shall "mark" each meter and socket.- Only a licensed and qualified electrical contractor may perform the disconnect function and he shall schedule a reconnect date (appointment) with FPL before disconnecting the service. If the appointment is not made before the disconnect, FPL will not be responsible for a same day reconnect. - The service shall be cut on the load side of FPL's connection to the customer's service conductors. No FPL conductors are to be cut.*- The service shall be disconnected before removing the meter(s). No meter is to be removed from an energized meter socket.- FPL personnel only are to perform the reconnect and only after an inspection (if required by the local authority) is received. Electrical contractors are not allowed to reconnect the service.- The decision to perform this type of disconnect is entirely voluntary for the electrical contractor and allows work to commence without having to wait for FPL to disconnect the service. However, the electrical contractor still has the option of FPL performing the disconnect if he prefers.
Description of Work: Initial inspection prior to quote. The service tech came out and recommended that I not call FPL and get the permit. Then he proceeded to cut the FPL tag, which is illegal, and pull the meter off. I cannot in good conscious use a company that has zero respect for the law and decided not to pursue the quote.

Their service was excellent. They saved me $500. I initially obtained a quote from another company that provided me a quote of 1100 dollars without installing the fans. Rayco did the work for 710. They were prompt with the quote and the service was fantastic. Do yourself a favor manatee county and get an estimate from rayco before paying someone else. Thank you Rayco electric.

Absolutely terrific. Prompt response to request for a quote. Estimate received timely via email. Once contract signed work scheduled out for a week later. Work done the day they said in the time they said it would take. Area was left cleaned up.Another contractor said it would take 2 months to coordinate with FPL. Pricing was better than company voted no 1 in Manatee County. They honored not only the Angies List discount but also the discount from their newspaper ad. I look forward to working with them on the electrical upgrade within my home

The company was very responsive to my call. I received a cost quote almost immediately, and the job was scheduled quickly and to our time request. The electricians spent 1/3 the time I was quoted. The workmanship of the wiring, fan installation was very good! I was disappointed in the way they terminated the exhaust duct. It was placed near and pointed toward the roof peak vent. When I pointed that out to the person who quoted the job, he expalined that is the way they do it here. That would allow moist air from the bathroom to vent into the attic. At additional cost I hired a contractor to change the duct to vent out side through the soffit vent. The workers did a fine job based on what they were told to do. I thought the price was high for the time spent.

Everything is described above.
Description of Work: I called Rayco and asked for the electrician to install electrical outlet and the washlet that would work from it. I was explained that I would pay a @75.00/hour. The very next day the person (Andrew Boyer) came to my house for the estimate. After I showed him what needs to be done he said that the opening shoud be made in the tile for the outlet and he would send another person for that before he can do his part of a job. He asked for $75.00 in advance and said that after the job is done he will subtract this amount from the total charges. In a few days after that the tiling person arrived and made a hole in the tile and actually installed the washlet. He did a great job, fast and very profetionally. I paid him what he asked and he left. The next day Andrew Boyer came, installed the outlet which took him about an hour and said that I have to pay him $160.00 because he included charges for the gas he spent drivig from another client, car amortization and labor. I was very surprised... and called to Rayco to find out what is going on. After long discussion between Andrew and the the person who originally took my order over the phone I was told that I shoud pay $31.00 for the materiasl spent in addition to $75.00 I paid already. And that was it. Yes, I think the amount was fair not to count the frustration and aggravation that this experience caused me. After he left I noticed that he closed the attic door in the way that the insulation material was hanging from the ceiling around this door. He did bother to do a good cleaning on the floor.Angie's list representatives called me several times to describe my experience with Rayco. I did not want to say anything negative, but then I decided to do so for the others who would want to use the same person to do that kind of job. I hope that would help.

Response from Rayco Electric Inc
The customer did not understand that it would take Rayco longer than 1 hour to complete her job therefore it would cost more than $75.00. The customer's total bill was $163.15. We extended a courtesy discount to the customer in the amount of $57.15, which was a 35% discount. She was very distraught and verbally irate. We provided excellent service, made two separate trips, used $30.90 in materials and the customer paid $106.00. Rayco Electric, Inc. had been in business over 32 years. Our goal is to work toward 100% customer satisfaction but there are times when it is not within in our ability. Sincerely, Rayco Management Team
