Estimates given to remodel 2 bathrooms, one 90% gutted and the other about 50%. Estimates included labor and bare minimum costs for vanities, counter tops and tile. The actual cost of the materials picked out was double the original quote so be aware that they quote based on styles that probably would not be appealing to you unless you were selling the house to someone else. Your price may be 40 to 100 percent higher than the quote. While this did make the cost higher, it was not unreasonable for Lighthouse to estimate at the bare minimum price. This is not why I did not have the work done. Due to my job and number of hour I was working, my wife and I had to pick out styles and colors over several Saturdays. It took 5 weeks from when we were given the original quote to complete all selections. We talked to Lawrence every week with questions and updating status and getting prices for the items as we made decisions on them. So we had updated prices as we went. I made one last change to the vanities which should have reduced the cost and asked for a final quote so we could make our decision. He told me these changes would definitely make the price lower. This was on a Friday. Sunday night I had the quote however the cost of the vanities went up $16 when they should have dropped several hundred dollars. I was also told that we could not get the countertops at the price given to us after we picked them out (which was double the original quote) due to a sale that was only valid in the 3-4 days when we picked them out. The countertop supplier told us we had about 2 weeks. I can not say beyond any doubt that they were playing games with me. I actually feel they did not keep records on the prices they were giving me so they just came up with new numbers at the end that were not related to what I was told along the way. At the very least, I recommend that you not choose them to do the work then go through this process like we did. I would narrow your selection to 2 companies and have them both working out the details simultaneously, then decide. If not, Lighthouse may end up wasting a lot of your time.
