I had a few different quotes and Jemstone was not the cheapest but I knew from the start that they were the most professional. And I'm glad I spent just about 10% more. My master bath was re-tiled, a new shower and vanity/sinks and plumbing installed. I did use my own plumber which was not a problem for them. Their electrical people installed new light fixtures and the floor guy was great. Very clean, always on time and great communication so I always knew who was showing up when for what. I especially appreciated it when, a few months later, they came back to fix the shower stall door. I know it wasn?t their fault that the thing went bad but Mike said he?d take care of it and he did. No charge for super service. Also, my HOA used Jemstone to fix our pool house bathrooms about three years ago. We were very happy.

The job went great. Mike was great. Everything went according to plan. He was very patient with my wife and I and went above and beyond what was necessary. He was always willing to give advice which we thought was helpful.
Description of Work: Mike removed a large concrete landing area in my foyer. The space was approximately a 10 foot square that was 2 feet deep. They jackhammered up the existing concrete and poured smooth concrete that matched the existing floor that allowed me to lay hardwood flooring. Also, they performed the drywall work that was a result of removing the landing. In addition, they performed many other tasks like running electronics line through the ceiling, hanging a fireplace mantel, lighting, as well as many other things.

Description of Work: We used Jemstone for several projects on both our home and a rental property over the last year and got excellent service and quality. Pricing was competitive and knowledge level superior. Some things didn't happen according to schedule but in the end we are very happy and would use this company again and again. Definitely recommend.

Mike stepped in 3 weeks prior to starting the job when I had already ordered my cabinets and the contractor I had been working with stopped responding to my calls, emails, and texts. I had the benefit of seeing Mike's work when he renovated the very large hair salon I go to in Boca Raton, and the owner referred me to Jemstone. Although Mike's schedule was already full for the next 6 weeks, he understood my desperation and said he would fit my job in. Towards the end of the renovation while replacing the windowsill with granite, it turned out the window had been leaking, and the wall was rotted and full of mold. Mike replaced the window and built a new wall which is now very likely the best quality wall in the entire house. Everyone who works for Mike does high quality work and they are a pleasure to have in the house. If your life must be disrupted during a renovation, it helps to have neat, punctual and pleasant people doing the work. Mike can handle anything you throw at him no matter how big or small. My kitchen was not a major job for Mike, but he understood that it was a major event for me and something I had wanted to do for years and he treated it as such. Mike and his team created my dream kitchen/sewing center. I really love it and am so happy with the quality of work and the care Mike takes to make everything perfect. Mike did so many little extra things like cleaning up the botched mess created by the plumber I hired on my own (who was recommended by a "friend"). Mike quickly responds to phone calls and texts - something that is rare in Florida. I would highly recommend Jemstone for any project you have.

It went well, Mike was nice and professional. I received an itemized list of all the work that was to be done, i received prompt contracts on all the work. The price for the work was exactly what was listed. Work started fairly quickly and was done about on time. The electrician he used to update the electrical was nice. The only complaint i have is that the electrician put in a light switch that at the end of the job we could not find out what it was for. Mike was supposed to get back with me about it and never did. Aside from that, it was a good experience.
Description of Work: Two walls were removed and beams put in. Some outlets were moved. Electrical box was updated.

I have never been on Angie's list so sorry for the late response. I have your bid from 8.23.2011. You wanted a small addition. Mike and I over the past year have found that the bids go to people's spam. We assumed that clients had received them. We have incorporated a fail safe system. He stamps the bid with date emailed and I follow up with a call. we even color coat in our calendar to help us make sure we are on top of the phone calls. Sorry for your confusion. I hope it all worked out for you.

I am calling him back for the tile work. I spent $4600 on the job, the last time I used him. I liked everything about him. He was very professional, very nice, and very sincere. He knows his work. He is very clean. The drywall was smooth and plain. He did a good job on the outside of the house, too. I will use his services again in the future.
Description of Work: I used Jemstone Construction. He did drywall work in my kitchen, two months ago.

Everything went pretty well and we are pleased with the end result. I would have rated them an "A" for quality except for a measurement mistake with the door which resulted in a bit of extra work. However Mike was always polite, dealt with a some changes and we paid exactly what we had agreed on.
Description of Work: They replaced a 12 foot sliding glass patio door with an 8 foot door after building an exterior wall. Obtained permits, ordered and replaced the door, refinished exterior and interior walls. Also built a bar on the patio with a stucco bar with granite top and sink (top and sink was not included in the price) and steel door (included in price)

Mike was very friendly, responsive and understanding of the FHA process. He was able to get the work done quickly, and deferred payment until all work was complete, due to my bank requirements. Once I closed on the house, work began in about a week, and was complete in about one week. Through the whole process, which was stressful for me as a first time home owner, Mike was understanding of my needs and was never pushy or difficult to work with.
Description of Work: I needed FHA required repairs for a newly purchased home. Mike provided the most competitive quote for the work (including roofing repairs, for which he subcontracted a roofer). Repairs included replacing rotten fascia and trim, scraping and painting wood, replacing cracked windows, and replacing missing roof shingles.

It went great! I made it clear from the beginning that I was on a tight budget and I was willing to do anything that I could do to save money. And, he took me seriously. He did not try to 'sell' me on having him do the work. So, when I wanted to paint the interior and exterior of my home, he did not try to talk me out of it - he simply gave me lessons on how to do it properly. Painting sounded easy - but, boy, what a job! Mike showed me how to use the power cleaner to clean the exterior - and then let me run with it. He showed me how to use the industrial spray painter - and then let me run with it. He gave me a painting lesson (using the roller attached to a long handle), to facilitate the painting of the interior of my home. He gave me a tiling lesson, so that I could do my own backsplash in the kitchen. He helped me take ownership of the parts of the remodel that I was physically capable of doing - I just didn't know how to do it. All of his subcontractors - and I mean all of them, from the electrician to the window guys to the handy man to the punch-out guy - think and speak very highly of Mike. That is very unusual in the construction industry.
Description of Work: EXTERIOR Supplied and installed all exterior openings: Replaced five windows, blocked up three windows, added four windows. Installed hurricane shutters for all windows in concordance with My Safe Florida Home program. Installed three impact resistant exterior doors. Replaced 20 of jalousie windows with two sets of 6 impact resistant exterior French doors. Filled out the paper work - including taking photos of the work - to submit to the program for matching grant funds. Applied for all appropriate permits and walked them through city hall in two weeks! INTERIOR Major kitchen remodel including knocking down weight bearing wall and re-installing the beam above the ceiling and designing and installing custom kitchen cabinets; major electrical work including upgrading and moving breaker box; installed tank-less hot water heater and replaced roof insulation. Minor bathroom remodel replaced sink and hardware. Applied for all appropriate permits and walked them through city hall within two weeks! ADDED BONUS #1 Mike has a good eye and made decorating/aesthetic suggestions with which, at first, I did not agree; but, after he did the work ( Let me do the work and if you don t like it, we can change it. ), it looked better than I imagined. ADDED BONUS #2 Mike is a great problem solver and was able to solve problems (or tap his resources for a resolution) that other GC s were ether unable or unwilling to work on. Specifically, I had a sprinkler system as old as the house (circa 1950) that was a spider web of pipes sticking out of the ground, hoses connecting one zone to the other it was a mess. He was the only general contractor (of seven that I met) that had an idea as to what was going on with that sprinkler system! And he fixed it!
