Best-Tec Asbestos Abatement Inc

My home inspector found a white "asbestos like" material on an old steam pipe in the house I was buying. He recommended I get it tested right away, but didn't have any numbers I could call. There weren't any reviews for Asbestos Removal companies in Jacksonville, FL on Angie's List, so I had to use google to find companies for quotes. Best-Tec's home base is in Boynton Beach, FL so I didn't consider them until someone local recommended them. It turns out there is a local branch here in Jacksonville, FL. The first company I called told me that I had to get someone to pull a sample, and then I had to get the sample tested, THEN they would come out and give me a quote. I didn't have the first idea how to safely take a sample, or find a company that would sample and test. I was fortunate enough to get Ron from Best-Tec's phone number from a colleague. I gave Ron a call and he came out right away to take a sample, he was extremely knowledgeable and very thorough. He found parts of pipe covered in asbestos that no one else had found. Then he personally took the sample to the lab for testing. When the sample came back positive for asbestos, he sent me a quote for the cost of removal and/or containment. With the lab report in hand, I had the first company I called come out and give me a quote too. The first company's tech couldn't find the rest of the pipe in my wall. I told him that I knew for a fact it was there. It took the other company's tech looking around and coming out of the attic three times before he found that the pipe ran the length of the wall. And on top of that, their bid was considerably higher than Ron's. Needless to say, I went with Best-Tec. I was working on a really hard deadline. I needed to have the asbestos removed immediately after I closed on my house so I could move in right away. Ron worked with me and made sure he could come out on day I needed him. Another Best-Tec tech drove up from South Florida to assist him. I was very impressed with how knowledgeable they both were. Ron made sure that they not only removed the asbestos from around the pipe, but they bagged up and removed the old regular insulation from around the area (because it may have had small asbestos fibers on it). They also sprayed some containment chemical to seal the area. Ron called when they had completed the job and also said that in the process of removal, they had accidentally knocked a hot water pipe loose. At no charge to me, he went out and bought materials to repipe the area. He even came out the next day to inspect his work and make sure there was no leak. Just a true professional. When I got home and looked at the areas that had the asbestos, all I saw was a clean metal pipe. I was so impressed! It was like the asbestos was never there. It was a huge relief. I now feel totally safe in my home. It was a very stressful situation that was made so much easier by Ron and Best-Tec. I recommend them highly!
