+ 0 moreKen was very prompt on his first two appointments,even brought his kitchen man on the second one to look at the job to be done. The third appointment was to show us a painted cabinet door to be used in the kitchen. Our appointment was for 12:30.... my husband and I drove to the home, spent the morning there with other contractors and then waited from 11 to 12:30 when Ken was to be there. At 12:30 he called to tell us he was running late and could be there in 20 minutes....not the way I do business. You don't call when you are due and say you are running late. I work full time and do not have the time to wait for people to be late with no call until the time of the appointment. I was looking forward, based on other reviews to use his company, but missing appointments is not acceptable. Need to schedule time better or at least have the courtesy to call before to reschedule.
Description of Work: Recently purchased a new home, planning on remodeling kitchen and repainting entire home.

Description of Work: My house is 2,800 Sq.Ft. and the crew painted the whole interior, minus the closets and the ceiling, in two days. I gave them a sample of the color I wanted, and they came back with just the right shade. The crew arrived on time and they finnished the job to perfection in two days. The crew was polite,friendly and left the place as neat and orderly as was possible. I was pleased with the company right from the first minute I spoke with their agent and their price was considerably below many others.

+ -1 moreBenchmark did an awesome job from start to finish. I called and left a message to have someone call me back regarding stripping and repainting a Mexican tile walk and entryway. I wasn't sure if anybody would take the job due to it being such a small job. Sure enough the next day Sherry (office associate) called and had me speak with Martin, the owner. I advised Martin of my request and he told me he would do the job. I asked if it could be done within a week as I had company coming. Martin said that wasn't a problem either. They spent two half days stripping the old paint off. The painter came out on Saturday AND Sunday to prime and paint the area. I was shocked to see the painter work on a Saturday. The painter advised we would need another coat and asked if he could come back on Sunday. Who am I to say no??? :) I was very pleased with everyone I spoke with from Sherry in the office to Martin the owner to the painter, whom I never got his name. Sorry!! They made the experience so pleasant that I plan on using them again to paint the exterior of my house within the year. I wish I would've know about them before I had my masterbath remodel. I would've used Benchmark instead of who I used.

+ 0 moreThey were very responsive and came right away. They were extremely professional. Their quote was very competitive. I had called many people and they had an extremely competitive price. They said they were not used to taking out the outlet covers and the blinds when they paint and they just paint around them. I had requested they actually take them out and they were agreeable to that. I requested zero VOC paint and they were agreeable to that. They forgot to get it and they immediately rectified that and didn't charge me any extra. They were very, very nice guys and very professional. It turned out beautifully and they did a very good job. I called them to do another job and they got back to me right away. I would definitely use them again.
Description of Work: I used Benchmark Painting & Carpentry to paint my house, take down some columns and they fixed part of the floor.

Description of Work: The company rep came out a day or so after I called, discussed the job in detail, and gave me a rough estimate. When I was ready to begin, they came out within a couple days, and had six or so men working. They finished everything in one day, were neat and pleasant. I would definitely use them again.

+ 1 moreI contacted several general contractors for completely gutting out and remodeling a 2-bedroom condo . Martin from Benchmark recommended I hire an architect due to extensive amount of remodeling required. He also recommended an architect, Erwin. Erwin's bid was almost half as much as another Architect bid I received, so I hired him. Once the plans were ready, I emailed them to the 3 general contractors I have selected. Martin showed up with printed plans and 3 of his sub contractors, electrician, plumber and floor person. From the beginning he was organized and on top of his game. Although I received slightly lower bid from another general contarctor, I did not have confidence he can do the job, so I hired Martin. Martin and his subs did a great job remodeling and converting an old condo built in 1964 to a beautiful modern unit. Project took a little longer than anticipated, however most of that was due to restrictions HOA imposed on work hours. Once the remodeling was completed, Martin worked through any issues we run into and fixed them promptly. His office manager, Sherry is a pleasure to work with. I have recommended Benchmark to 2 other condo owners in our building, and Martin is doing a complete remodeling for my neighbor on the same floor.

Description of Work: They painted and installed crown moulding the whole lower section of my house, staircase and hallway upstairs. He was there both days right at 8 am as he had promised. Worked with a drop cloth that he moved around with him and not a drop of paint anywhere. I would definitely used them again.
Description of Work: Painted the ceilings and walls in family, living, foyer and hallway. Also painted the doors and frames.

+ 1 moreI hired this componay because of there good rating on Angie's List and they were one of the few licensed to work in this town. Who would guess the process to paint two doors would take months.
Description of Work: I look after a condo while the owner is out of town. I hired Benchmark to replace one fire prof door and one glass in another door. Both doors were to be painted. The process took about three months. I called Martin back twice to finish the painting. The first time the door frames had not been painted. The second time paint was missing around the latch. The owner is still not satisfied with the job.

+ -1 moreOffice staff was extremely friendly and helpful. I worked with their subcontractor, Pineapple Grove Enterprises, and we designed the bar together. The carpenters were extremely friendly and professional. I received the finished product a bit ahead of schedule, which was a pleasant surprise. The workmanship is absolutely first class. I will not work with anyone other than Benchmark and Pineapple Grove moving forward. Absolutely a pleasurable experience.

+ 4 moreOverall, Benchmark far exceeded my expectations. During the renovation, changes were made and work was added to the original scope of work and they were always flexible and willing to do everything they could to accommodate my requests. They priced the additional work fairly and did it in a timely manner. Bob Koepka continued to be very involved in every aspect of the project and made weekly site visits to inspect the progress and quality of work. I was out of town while some of the work was being performed and Bob provided regular communication to me ( including photographs) which gave me an incredible sense of comfort and allowed for the good night's sleep I referred to earlier. Everyone involved in the project was professional, courteous and did very high quality work. I was never once made to feel like i was bothersome to Bob regardless of when or how often I called or requested updates. Based on the level of supervision, the integrity by which they operate and the quality of work I received from Benchmark and Bob Koepka, I will be using them over and over again on my other rental units and my residence. You will not be disappointed in Benchmark.
Description of Work: I originally called Benchmark for an estimate on painting the interior of a townhouse I own and rent out. After speaking with Bob Koepka, the project manager that did the estimate, I got a good feeling about the company and decided to also have them bid on other aspects of the major renovation I was about to start, including a completely new kitchen, 3 new bathrooms and some custom cabinet work in the living room. Further discussions with Bob over the next week increased my level of confidence in this company's ability to handle the entire project and the estimates for the additional projects were reasonable. They were by no means the lowest estimates I received, but I have been doing this long enough to have learned that a good night's sleep is worth something and I felt like I would be in good hands with Benchmark and Bob Koepka.

+ -1 moreMartin came out promptly after I called for an estimate. Estimate was more than fair. We agreed on a start date and his workers showed up on time every day and worked hard the entire time they were at the house. At the end of each day they would clean up and sweep the entire work area. I only had one week to get the job completed and they even worked all day Saturday to meet the deadline. Work is professional and we could not be happier with our new bathroom. The entire experience was very pleasant and everyone I dealt with was very professional and accommodating to my schedule. We plan to hire them to do a complete remodel on our master bathroom.
Description of Work: Complete bathroom remodel. Tore out all old fixtures, vanity, bathtub, toilet, and flooring. Built a new wall. Installed new tile floor, tile on walls, new tub, shower, toilet, and vanity. Moved a junction box and installed new lighting. Also painted the entire bathroom.

+ -1 moreThe two workers showed up on time for the 3 day job and the final outcome was done to our satisfaction. The only complaint was that once during the job the front door was not reassembled properly so it was not locked overnight. It caused us some concern, even though we live in a gated community. To his credit, Bob Koepka, Project Coordinator, heard of our concern and returned to apologize for the problem. Their work is good, they are professional overall, and I intend to use them again.
Description of Work: Faux painted 3 single garage doors and one double front door.

+ 0 moreWe needed to get the exterior of our house painted, and while we were doing that we decided it would be the right time to replace our old entry door and side-lite. Since we were changing the color completely, I wanted to be sure that the job was through with attention to detail. I found Benchmark on Angie's list and Bob came to give us a bid. While we did have lower bids, we decided to go with Benchmark because of their Angie's list feedback and with their degree of professionalism. They are general contractors and were able to arrange the new entry door for us. We had a bit of difficulty with communications and appointments with the door subcontractor, but Benchmark was very responsive. Their painting crew was first rate -- the house was properly prepped and the painting went smoothly and efficiently. We were very impressed with how diligently they worked, arriving early each day and working a very full day. The end result is beautiful and we are completely satisfied. I do feel we paid a little bit of a premium for their services, but i believe it was money well spent.

However we discussed and had a look at the bathroom/laundry room addition because they say they do that kind of service but never came back with anything, wasted my time. We also had an estimate for floor refinishing but the price was high, I think they have to hire a different company for it.

They even put down covers on our carpets and hung plastic sheeting to keep the drywall sanding from going into other rooms. It is so nice to find a company that does great work at a fair price nowadays. Will recommend to my friends.

They were very polite and professional , neat and clean-- they covered all the non painted areas with plastic so everything was spotless when they left. Did a number of things that were not included in the original job including moving furniture and touching up so minor exterior things and moved some furniture. Would definitely use them again.
Description of Work: Benchmark painted the entire interior of a new house I bought and did a superb job.

This time we needed a re-build of a portion of a bedroom that was water damaged. Another company did the remediation work. That left a lot of drywall and part of a door frame gone. I called Martin for an estimate. He was the low estimate, and was able to shuffle some jobs around to fit us in quickly. As always, his crew did excellent work, cleaned up well, and were polite and respectful while here. They arrived on time and left when they said they were leaving. All of the work looks great. Thank you, Martin and your crew!

+ 8 moreThe whole project took us few months due to our loan situation and the fact that the house was a foreclosure. As far as with my experience with Martin, I would 100% recommend him and his company to anyone. It is very hard to find a reliable contractor in South Florida and he's deflinitely one that anyone can trust him. He's able to juggle most complex work and deliver everything within the deadline. I don't have anything negative to say about him and be willing to share any questions further with anyone. As with any contractors I would recommend everybody to be very specific on what you want and get everything in writing so there is no confusion. Also follow general do's and don't of hiring anyone.
Description of Work: I have purchased a foreclosure home that needed major work that was tied to a "rehab loan" (203k). The house was totally stripped and it needed to be fixed in every way you can think of. I initially went through a few terrible experiences with contractors that were recommended before I met Martin. Most of the time the contractors would meet me but they would fail to deliver the proposals, or wouldn't even show up. In fact one contractor led me on for almost a month and just stopped answering our phone calls one day. Out of all this frustration, I signed up with Angie's List and I looked for the contractor that had the best rating in my area, which was Martin Devincenti. After my first call, he showed up on time the very first time and gave me proposals on all the work that he needs to do and the pricing. This was done within his promised deadline. Once I hired him, he kept his promise on delivering everything on the promised date. He also had to deal with a lot of paperwork due to my loan requirements which he did not hesitate. Sherry that works with him at the office was a tremendous help getting all the needed paperwork to the loan company. We had many issues with the loan company and the selling agent and Martin dealth with all the added headache / paperwork that came with it. The people that he employed have been with him were good, reliable, trustworthy and professional. They've been with him for a long which was good to know. If he had to hire subcontractors they were as reliable as him. I actually asked him many times for helping me find help on other unrelated items which I knew that I could trust his recommendations. We had one incident that I contracted out a portion of the kitchen work to another person (friend - never do it!!) which it ended up being a nightmare where I got burned dearly, and when I called Martin and explained my problem and needed his help to finish up the work he was able to help me pick up the pieces and finish up the work that was left with no hesitation.
