Nick arrived on time for the estimate. He was very knowlegable of the work that needed to be completed and made several suggestions. He was polite and very eager to get the job. He said he had workers available and could begin immediately. I had 3 estimates. His estimate was in the middle. As promised he began the work on schedule. After the wood wall studs were installed I called Nick because the studs were connected to the existing wall studs (no problem here), but didn't extend to the ceiling. In other words, the new stud may have been 5', but the ceiling was 8'. I'm not asking alot to have the stud go to the ceiling. I had a glass seamless shower installed by another contractor. There was no stud installed so the glass could be attached to something stronger than durarock. I asked to have a wood stud installed for the shower glass. I called several times and sent emails. I even invited Nick to my home so we could discuss. He never return my calls and did not respond to my email. I came home one day and the dry wall was installed, but the framing (wood studs) were never corrected. I removed the durarock and installed the wood studs for the shower myself. A GFI breaker was never installed. It's hard to believe, but the new ceiling light didn't even have an electrical box installed. It was a wire pulled through the ceiling. There was no switch or switch box for the new ceiling light. The wire was coiled up in the vanity electrical box. I paid an electrician $200 to fix this mistake. When I left a voice message to fire Nick he returned my call. He apologized and then wanted to know about final payment. I wish you good luck with this contractor.

Following advice from a friend who found Benchmark using Angie's List I called them for a painting estimate. Within a few days estimator Patrica came to the house, spoke with me regarding the needed work and did the necessary measuring. She e-mailed a detailed proposal a few days later and after comparison with other quotes we signed a contract to perform the work. Work was scheduled at my convenience and workers arrived ahead of schedule on the morning we picked. Benchmark employees were courteous and friendly and said they could work around some large furniture that was difficult to move from the three rooms. Work was completed by noon of the first day, workmanship was excellent with virtually NO mess! After a short break for lunch workers began power washing of the exterior, once completed they said they would return the following day to do the final preparation and painting. Day two was a duplicate of day one, the paint work exceeded my expectations and once again cleanup was meticulous. Previous contractors have often spoiled otherwise perfect work by leaving behind a huge mess to clean up, or even worse doing "collateral" damage. Nothing is more frustrating than having to clean up or fix damaged property after work is completed, attention to such details is in fact the "Benchmark" of quality work. in my opinion. You can hire this company with confidence, they are on my short list of good ones!

We bought a vacation home last year and contacted Martin of Benchmark Painting and Carpentry. Since most or all of the work would be done while we were states away, we were very leery about the process and prepared for a nightmare. What we got was far from that. The process was more like a pleasant dream and the work preformed was outstanding. Right away, we felt at ease with Martin and his crew. I'm pretty sure our kitchen is the best in the neighborhood and honestly nicer than our home in Texas. We had total input and things were done just as we wanted with no BS and no surprises. And anytime there was a small issue, Martin took care of it quickly and to our total satisfaction. We've had lots of work done throughout the years and have dealt with many contractors and professionals throughout the years. Dealing with Martin and company was second to none. We found the prices quoted for the remodel to be more than reasonable, the craftsmanship to be excellent and they did it all within the time-frame estimated. How can you top that? Besides our totally bomb kitchen cabinets, I need to add that the painting quality on our interior walls and trim is the best painting that I have ever seen. It's like Michelangelo did it. PRECISE. Thanks Martin and Benchmark for all your hard work, you are greatly appreciated.

After accepting their quote on Saturday afternoon, I expected to be contacted sometime on Monday to confirm the details, sign the agreement and pay a deposit. No one contacted me and I rang the office at 4.45 pm on Monday only to get a recorded message. They finally rang me Tuesday and had done no preparation or bothered to review my job requirements - then put me on hold while they reviewed what the quote was for. Then was told in a very uncertain way "someone is on vacation......" at that point I lost all confidence in dealing with this company.

I have called them back twice to come out and look at a paint job that they did about a year ago. It is deteriorating terribly. I have made phone calls and sent emails and they keep telling me they will come out and then they do not. I know that they are on the honor list. They are supposed to come by and look at the painting, but no one has called me to let me know. He sent me an email asking me to call the office to make an appointment and I emailed him back and told them to call me. I have not received a call back. I do not think that they are interested in standing behind their guarantee. It started deteriorating in April and it is getting worse. They did it in May of 2012. The interior painting has lasted; the exterior is what is deteriorating. The work is under warranty. The paint was supposed to last three or four years, so I did not think that there was going to be a problem with the warranty. They were not the most expensive, but they were not the cheapest. I would not use them again.

Excellent communication from estimate to the completed job. The painters were pleasant, professional, prompt AND proficient with their trade. We are pleased with the results and would use this company again.

The episode began with a Benchmark representative coming to a**** what was required and to measure areas. Because the surfaces exhibited extensi peeling of the old paint they recruited the services of a Sherwin Williams representative to advice them as to whether future peeling of the new paint was possible. She indicated that the possibility was there and they could not guarantee the job. I accepted that fact and requested and estimate. A contract was drawn and after some minor adjustments to the wording I accepted it and signed it. Benchmark is a contractor and they subcontract the work to various subcontractors depending on the type of work required. For my job an individual by the name of Ken showed up with pressure cleaning equipment to start the job. As it turned out he was there to do the whole job. He completed the pressure cleaning in one day and after a short delay due to rain he came back to do the painting. He asked me what color I wanted and I said White and he went on about his bussines. When the job was completed and the paint had dried I noticed that the color was a stark white. My wife and I concluded that it was totally unacceptable. I called Benchmark to complain and was told that the painter should have presented us with a color chart of the various shades of white for us to select and sign an approval. This, of course, never happened, indicating the lack of coordination between Benchmark and their subcontractors. When I asked how the problem would be resolved they said that I had to pay additional $300.00 to have another coat applied. To add insult to injury they charged, without my authorization, the final payment to my credit card even though the contract specified that the final payment was due upon completion of the job with "100% SATISFACTION OF WORKMANSHIP". Benchmark's loyalty is to their profits and not to customer satisfaction. Update on 14 Sept.2013 The purpose of this update is to respond to the provider's response. For the benefit of Angies List members let me set the record straight. 1. The painter DID NOT apply a sample to the deck for our approval. He NEVER gave us the opportunity to select a shade. 2. You DID NOT return to repaint to correct the problem. The decks are as you left them. 3. While we were waiting for a resolution to the problem you DID charge the credit card that we had used to make the downpayment, even though the contract specified that the final payment was due on completion of the job with 100 percent customer satisfaction. Doesn't it stand to reason that if the provider's responses were true I would have been a satisfied customer? Then what reason would I have had to write such a negative review?

It was a great recommendation and they did excellent work. I felt that the price was fair for the work that they did. ?They were on time, did what they said they would, and we had no problems with them.

I purchased an Angie's List Big Deal special offer for this service. It was okay. They did a very good job on the doors and baseboards but after they left I saw that they were doing some of the doors on the outside and I noticed that they sprayed the wall of my building. They also broke a hose. They came back and replaced the hose but they never came back to cover up the paint on the wall. I had to get paint from the condo association and am going to have to climb up high on a ladder to do it. This was weird because I know I got a good price and did not want to push it but it bugged me that they did not make an effort to come back and fix that wall. They were here when they said they would be.

They did a satifactaory job. They are clean, honest and reliable.

I had originally planned to use another contractor for this work and needed to take them off my project. I needed to scramble to find a contractor who could do the job right away. I went through several recommended contacts before I went back and found Benchmark on Angie's list. Martin from Benchmark gave me an hourly rate for some urgent work that I needed and then had his guys come in on Saturday and Sunday to get the urgent items done. The rest of the jobs were quoted prior to start of the work. Since I was in a jam to find somebody to do this work last minute, I had expected to get gouged on cost. Despite my push to expedite my work, Martin gave me very fair pricing. The Benchmark crews worked several weekends to get the job done. Overal, the work performed was top-notch. The Benchmark crew showed real craftsmanship in everything that they did. With a name that says "paint & carpentry", I did not expect that some of their best work would be the tile that they did in the bathrooms - awesome job! I will definitely use Benchmark again.

Holy cow, these guys are fast!!! We called Benchmark and scheduled for our popcorn ceilings to be sprayed throughout the house. Oscar came first thing the next day and finished the following day - he had a lot of work to do. The ceilings looked great. He finished in light-speed and did such a great job that I requested him to come back the very next day (thank you Martin!) to paint a large high-ceiling livingroom. Oscar was there first thing the next morning and did an amazing job. He was meticulous about his work and cleaned everything before he left. I can't say enough good things about Benchmark, and they would be the first (and only) company I would use in the future! Thanks guys!

What can I say about Benchmark, the employess & the service provided!? What a great experience from start to finish! I started with an estimate, then I took atvantage of the Color Consultant to help me with my color scheme and WOW what a fantastic job! ~ I trusted her 100 % and just went with it and it is absolutely beautiful!! I invited her back to see the end result and she was thrilled. The painters and electricians, what AWESOME guys they have working for Benchmark! They are very honest, trustworthy, and polite. They work hard every day, so neat, clean & tidy! Showed up on time ready to work.... I hated to see the job end they were a pleasure to have in my home and will have them back in the winter to piant the exterior. Thank You to all the crew & staff at Benchmark you are exceptional!!!!

This company looks like the perfect company to do the bathrooms that i need done. However, I apparently live outside their service area. No big deal except that they advertise that they service palm beach and broward county. However, I seem to live too far north in palm beach to be included. I asked them to correct their website info and hope that others on angies list in northern PBC dont waste time calling this company. To Be fair, Boynton is 45 min from my house. I just feel that a company shouldn't advertise a service an area they won't actually service.

Called for estimate. Patricia came to our home and gave us a written estimate & confirmed a date. She called to advise us the crew was still on another job that took longer than expected and asked if it would be possible to move it to the day following. We had previously told her we were flexible but would like it completed by the 20th. They arrived as promised were very meticulous and took the first day putting up plastic & taping off areas. Completed painting the following day. Very pleased. Could not even tell they had been here except for freshly painted doors. Would recommend them to friends.

Wilson and Giovanni arrived promptly at 8 a.m. as agreed, and worked quietly and efficiently throughout the day. They left briefly for supplies and returned to complete all repairs by 3:30. All work was done to my complete satisfaction and they also cleaned up after themselves. Reasonably priced, superior workmanship - I will continue to use Benchmark for all my home painting and carpentry needs.

Everything went well! Benchmark sent out an estimator and within a few weeks we had the job completed. Would definately use again!

We were very impressed with this company. In addition to painting the exterior of our two story house, they cleaned and applied a new coat of varnish to all of the soffits as well as all of the porch/patio ceilings. They also cleaned the outside of my gutters. My house looks new again! They even came back a second time to fix some areas that I wasn't happy with. They did that, even though the problem was not their fault. I found out later that our exterminator had sprayed insecticide before the paint was completely dry, causing considerable damage. I didn't know this when I called Benchmark to complain about it. At that point, nobody knew what had happened. It didn't matter. They came back and spent a half day re-painting the damaged areas. No charge. As they were finishing up, one of the painters mentioned the possibility that maybe the exterminator had caused the problem. As soon as he said that, it hit me... the exterminator had been there the day that the painters finished. The pattern and the damaged areas were exactly where the insecticide was sprayed. As I apologized to the painter, he just smiled and said "don't worry about it, we just want you to be happy". That was the best answer EVER! I will use this company in the future, and I would definitely recommend them. They did a great job.

Touch ups were needed and were fixed.
