We were extremely satisfied with the entire crew and the work they did. Not only did they do a fine job of painting, they also took great care moving our heavy wall units and protected the furniture and floors. They started working by 8am, took a short lunch break and worked at least till 4pm each day. The entire project was completed in 4 days and we could not be happier with the results...We would certainly use Edward Zacka for future painting projects and would recommend them to others.

I had Ed seal newly laid pavers last spring. I was gone for several months and returned to find the pavers to have a blotchy appearance. He came as requested ,verified the problem and tried to reseal a test area to see if additional sealant was required. After an appropriate interval,to be sure the reapplication solved the problem, his crew returned to reseal the pavers. The crews were courteous. They removed my lanai furniture and replaced it . I recommend Ed and his company highly.

We called Ed in October to specifically discuss painting our existing lanai. I left a message and Kathy returned my call that day. He personally came out within a couple of days. At that time I also asked him to give us a quote to seal the driveway pavers and redo our garage floor. Ed provided a quote within the week. He also stated that we should hold off on the lanai painting until the rainy season was over. His quote was good and he gave a 10% Angie's List customer discount. WE agreed on a start date of January 5th. The week of December 15th Kathy called and asked if we could move up the start date. Since we were away at the holidays we agreed to begin on January 2nd. The painters were at our house by 8 in the morning as planned on January 2nd. They power washed the lanai and driveway and stripped the garage floor. On the 3rd they painted the lanai with two coats and the garage with the first coat. They returned on Saturday the 3rd to put the 2nd coat on the garage floor. We had to wait on the driveway sealing since it was rainy. It took a week for the driveway to get sealed only because it was cold and rainy so Ed and his team were waiting to make sure the product would seal properly. They finished the driveway on January 13th which was the first nice day after the garage floor had been done. We were very pleased with our experience and all three jobs look great. We would definitely call Ed Zacka for our outdoor painting needs.

Ultimately, the company did a good job. The issues experienced during the course of this project were the result of miscommunication among all parties. However, Mr. Zacka was extremely responsive and resolved all issues in a timely and satisfactory manner. His onsite crew was also very responsive when asked questions about particular aspects of the project. This project took place when Mr. Zacka's company was extremely busy. As a result, he wasn't able to personally check the work being done as often as he normally might. The morning that the work began, Mr. Zacka assigned the role of foreman to a member of the crew, with whom he quickly reviewed the project's details and then left. As is usually the case, issues arose as the project progressed and the role of "foreman" partially fell to me. I've had this situation happen before and I dislike it immensely. Having to inspect, give instructions, try to clarify contractual agreements, point out errors and oversights, etc. feels uncomfortable for both parties involved, particularly when the foreman doesn't have all of the information needed to properly oversee a job and the homeowner doesn't have any expertise about the kind of work being done. For example, at 4:00PM on a Friday afternoon, having considered the project complete, everyone had left the house except for one crew member (the foreman). While he was packing his truck to leave, I discovered that an area of the front porch hadn't been completed. Feeling very awkward, I had to tell this crew member, who had just finished packing up his truck and was ready to "call it a week," about the incomplete work. Knowing he couldn't return on Monday to finish due to the Company's full schedule, he realized his weekend was not beginning, yet. As much as I disliked having to be the bearer of bad news, this crew member, much to his credit, did not flinch. If he felt any negativity at that moment (I sure would have!) he did not show it. He proceeded to unpack his gear and completed the required work without complaint. However, Mr. Zacka should have been there to inspect the job when it was complete, rather than me. Another issue that I didn't communicate to the crew and therefore did not factor into my ratings of the company was that they talked and joked all day and played music while they worked. I know this helps the day go by and keeps spirits up, which, in turn, contributes perhaps to better quality, but sound travels and I could hear the music and everything they said through out my entire house! They weren't crude or off color, in fact, they were kind of funny. I made a choice not to complain, and, again, did not factor this issue into my rating. However, people working around homes need to be aware of how sound travels here in FL. The crew probably had no idea how well they could be heard. Then, over the weekend when my husband took a look at the work, he noticed that that only the exterior side of the fascia had been painted. All sides of wood fascia need to be painted to prevent warping and increase the longevity of the fascia. I didn't know this (another reason I dislike over seeing home maintenance projects - I don't know much about them). When I informed Mr. Zacka the following Monday, he apologized profusely and, when he was able to schedule a return to our home, he came out himself to begin the painting, even before his crew arrived. Ed Zacka is running his company with the right values and fair pricing, so his company is growing quickly. He is honest and eager to please. My project occurred about eight months ago, and at the time Mr. Zacka's company was definitely experiencing growing pains. He was doing the best he could to manage projects spanning a large geographical area. Hopefully he has resolved some of the management and communication issues occurring last spring. I would definitely recommend his company but would also strongly suggest focussing on clear and concise communication with whoever will be in charge on site, particularly if Mr. Zacka will not be on site very much during the course of a project.

His estimate was higher than other painting companies! We were quoted $1400. by Edward Zacka to paint a 120 foot wooden fence, paint cement patio deck and pressure wash both first. (UPDATE: estimate also included pressure washing fascia & soffits.) We paid another company $350. to pressure wash fence, patio and fascia of house and also paint the fence. UPDATE: When I wrote the 1st review I did not include all of the work that was estimated. After the owner contacted me I did go back and review the estimate and realized I had made an error. I do apologize and have edited my review.

In response to [Member name removed], We would like to address[Member name removed] disappointing statement and rating for our recent quote and do apologize for not being able to meet [Member name removed] needs financially. I must add that this statement is actually inaccurate. What [Member name removed] failed to mention was that the quote also included a price for painting two sides of a fence, pressure cleaning the lanai deck, fascia and soffits and also painting her lanai floor with adding grout lines a different color. We can’t always compete or speak for other companies but professionalism is very important to us, as we carry insurance and workmen’s comp which not all companies do. After seeing this rating I called to speak with [Member name removed] thinking that maybe she misunderstood our quote, and tried to explain that the quote was for more than just painting a fence. Unfortunately she was unable to find the quote and explained that she had 2 painters for one day to complete the job at $200.00. I as a business owner couldn’t be able to pay 2 men, cover workmen’s compensation, insure my company, and keep a business afloat if I was to charge $200.00 for a professional paint job for all the above listed work. This rating is disappointing due to the fact of us offering so much more than her statement and rating gives us credit for. Our goal is to give the best price possible without taking away the integrity of a quality paint job. Thank you Edward Zacka

I was very satisfied with the work he did. Edward came out after the work was done to make sure everything was to my and his satisfaction. I had a designer pick out the colors, but Edward went to the paint store with me to find the correct colors. He was also aware of the paint pricing and helped me get a bigger discount. The crew took about 4 days to complete the work, which included painting the doors. I liked Edward because he was easy to talk to, clean, very presentable, prompt, pleasant and personable. He inspired my confidence in the job. His crew was very good and he stood behind their work. I found their pricing reasonable for the job. Also, since I got them from Angie’s list, I got 10% discount. I have recommended them to others and would use them again in the future.

They did a great job. They were very responsive and got me on the schedule that worked well for me. There was a wrong color, by my doing, and had them come back repaint. They sent an estimator out to look at the job. I chose them because they were competitive with pricing, but they had an all-around good presentation and estimate. Overall, they did a great job with the painting and I am very happy. They were able to finish project within a week.

This is not the first home I've had painted in my days, but it is certainly the best exterior paint job of them all! First of all price. You do get what you pay for. I received five estimates before choosing Ed Zacka. There were cheaper alternatives out there, but experience has taught me to run from the low end guys. Their were higher quotes, but a respected architect told me Ed Zacka had painted his home and he was pleased with the work. Add to that recommendation that the price was fair (I'm ok with fair), and Zacka got the job. A one man crew arrived on day one. He introduced himself as Dave. Good guy. He took ownership of the job. Promptly went about power washing and then began taping windows. Ed showed up at one point. Dave and Ed walked the property strategizing on how to best paint this particular home. On day two the crew grew to five painters. Windows were taped and primer was put on the home. By the end of day four the home looked great, all that was left to do was paint the doors. On day five the crew shrank to three. These guys painted the doors and kept painting the house. Heck I thought the house itself portion of the paint job was complete. Wrong! They had ladders on the house touching up places that Dave felt needed more paint. They touched up a couple spots my wife and I pointed out. Around and around the house they went touching up. Not rushing to finish, just making sure the job was up to their standards, which are apparently high. They've been gone two days now. I just walked the perimeter and am in awe as to how much paint is on the house. It's important to point out how clean these guys were. Painting is messy work but there is no sign of them ever being here. No paint spills, no overspray on the windows, no nasty cigarette butts in my gardens (all things I've dealt with that in the past!) nothing but a thick clean coat of paint on the house. Looking at Ed Zacka's previous reviews here on Angies List it appears my experience was not unusual. If I ever have another reason to hire a painter in SWFL I know who I'll call!!

I had contacted the provider on the 22nd to get a quote, they tried to schedule for the 25th to come look at living room. I said the following Tuesday (the 30th) would be better for me. They agreed that would be fine. They called back today, and wanted to push the QUOTE, not the work, out to August 6th, for my TWO BEDROOMS. I explained that's not the service I asked for, and she said oh yeah, I wasn't looking at the screen. Who can't do a quote for two weeks? I understand being busy, I am a consulting engineer, but I've NEVER had time not to do a quote within a few days. I have had to say I won't be able to start your project for a few months, but I've NEVER said I won't do a quote in timely fashion, and I've quoted projects over a million dollars that are quite time consuming to quote.

I wanted to get my house painted before I put it up for sale, went on angies list and really liked the reviews that I read about Ed Zacka Painting. Ed came over and gave me a quote; he seemed to be a really honest and easy going guy, no sales pressure. My house was supposed to be started in a couple of weeks out but there was a last minute cancellation and I was able to get them over that very week. The crew came over, the guys were great, they even took a shovel and went all around and kinda pulled the sod away from the base of the house so they could apply paint where the grass would normally be (I know for a fact that many of these other painters in my neighborhood don't even bother with that detail). Halfway through the job, I noticed some stucco cracks and chipping paint on my lanai ceiling (My screened in lanai wasn't part of the job because I tried to save a few bucks and thought it didn't really need paint - in hind sight I should have gotten that repainted with the rest of the house) - I had to spring that task on Ed last minute and asked if he could do a patch and paint for the lanai ceiling and he agreed without batting a eye and at no extra charge. I really appreciated that and left a gratuity for him and his crew. The house looks t***! I would definitely recommend Edward Zacka painting to others.

This was not an easy job as the bedroom was originally a bright blue and one wall was painted with blue/orange/white stripes. We wanted white so it took multiple coats to cover. It looks great - they used the white I asked for and left the extra behind for touch-ups. They were able to get the job done before we moved in, which was very helpful and they did a very professional and neat job. We will definitely use them for future painting projects.

Ed and his crew painted my house, lanai, and pool deck. They were very professional, clean, prompt, and courteous. They were able to complete the job in less that three days by putting extra men on the job as necessary. They cleaned up and left everything spotless. The job looked wonderful when they left. About 6 months later the paint on my pool deck and lanai started to peel when hit with a hose. I contacted Ed and he tried spot repainting the areas that were peeling. The next time I washed my pool deck al lot more paint started peeling. Once again I contacted Ed and this time he said that he would contact the paint company representative to come out and try to determine what the problem was. After three weeks of his not getting any satisfaction from the paint company, Ed sent a crew out to clear off everything that was on the deck and to power wash it. This exposed several other areas that started to peel. Once the deck surface was sound, a crew came out and repainted the entire deck (not just the areas that had peeled). Ed did all this correction work without any compensation from his paint company and without asking me for a dime. His reputation for quality work was all that mattered. In my opinion this is the best paint company I have ever dealt with and I would not hesitate to use them again or to recommend them to anyone else. They are A-1.
