Well, they were very nice couple, the type that you could have a couple of drinks with but they lack the professionalism that contractors should have. One was trained and the other just a token so that they could collect more money. I did not see reason for having two people to come do a one person job. They were always late and took long breaks. The quality of there work was good but not great.

BEWARE of Alfa Brother Construction: My husband and I wanted to make as many people as possible aware of what can be expected from doing business with Alfa Brothers Construction. 1-Called the phone number listed on Angie?s List & spoke with owner Melvin Alfaro (Florida Certified Residential Contractor) who stated he only does the work on the west coast of Florida but he then provided his partner?s phone number and said that he does all east coast Florida work. 2-Met partner Michael Diaz who provided no hand written quote and asked for a deposit for ?labor only? services. 3-Day of commencement of work Mr. Diaz arrived smelling of alcohol which we assumed was from the night before. 4-Mr. Diaz and I had agreed that we would pay half the quoted price for the labor once they arrived to do the work. When they arrived I felt uncomfortable, as if they would leave once they had it in their hands so I waited two hours before getting the money. During that time Mr. Diaz seemingly called his partner Mr. Alfaro to see how to proceed. 5-Paid deposit at 11:30am in cash. Asked for a receipt to which Mr. Diaz said his partner emails receipts. Mr. Diaz said they had nothing on them to write a receipt. (Should have asked for a hand written one). He then seemingly called his partner Mr. Alfaro again to have him send a receipt. 6- Smelled alcohol again after they took a break. 7- Work Errors (we have plenty of photos to substantiate): Didn?t bring proper tools. Said his tools were at another job. Never prepared work area by covering counters. Newly oiled butcher block counter top installed upside down (see photo)! Side counter top was cut on an angel and was off by almost a whole inch from end to end (see photo). Tile work: cuts all jagged, big gaps, didn?t take tile to top of wall/cabinets, used grout to fill in all major gaps, didn?t finish some cuts or grouting of 1/3 of the wall, managed to cut one of the electrical sockets with tile saw (see photos). 8-Paid remainder of labor in cash but it was 7:30pm and being too tired I forgot to ask for a receipt (not smart on my part). 9-Left job at 8:30pm with a promise to return the next morning to finish work. Never showed up the next day. 10-Contacted Mr. Alfaro, the west coast partner, looking for him and played phone tag until Mr. Alfaro made a three-way call so we could figure out what was going on. 11-We told Mr. Alfaro we did not want Mr. Diaz to return to our home because we did not trust him or his skills. 12-Mr. Alfaro couldn?t supply anyone to finish the work by the following Monday so we did the work ourselves. 13-Mr. Alfaro?s listing says there is a 100% Satisfaction Guarantee. When he wasn?t able to have the work corrected or finished by the following Monday we asked for a refund. He claimed that Mr. Diaz was fraudulently doing business under his license and because we had paid in cash he was not able to refund our money.

I am thrilled with the whole experience. Melvin who is the building Contractor walked me through the whole process and made everything seemlessly easy. The team as a whole were phenomenal. Their designer Brandon has an amazing taste for quality and makes things go from paper and design plans to life. I couldn't have gone wrong choosing this company and will definitely be using them again for any remodeling work I need to get done. Thank you Barefoot!
