Red Brush Painting - Boca Raton

My initial experience with Red Brush was good and I thought I found a great company to do business with for many years. I dealt with Gent and really like him. He is a great person and pleasant to deal with. The issue is that Red Brush is a middleman company that has different companies that bid on the work in the name of Red Brush. My main problem was with the company that was representing Red Brush and the job they did from start to finish. First, the person that bid on the work was Miguel and his people made several mistakes throughout the process. When we originally got the bid from them, I walked Miguel through the house and showed him everything that we wanted done and this never changed. Once the work commenced, they realized that the job was more labor intensive then they originally anticipated, which kept coming up throughout the process. This was annoying because we originally did a walk thru to get a proper quote and I found it frustrating that we had to deal with Miguel constantly telling us that he didn't think it was so much work and he should have charged me more. The workers missed skim coating several sections that I had to point out afterwards, which I was constantly accused of damaging the walls to have his people come back out and skim coat again. Really?? Absolutely ridiculous that someone would accuse me of damaging walls so I could make him come out again to fix. The issue was that the work was not satisfactory for what was expected. The workers even missed entire walls in rooms, ceilings were missed in the bathrooms, and it was a constant struggle to have his people come out to finish the work. Also we decided to have Red Brush paint the remainder of the house with the understanding that as they painted the rest of the house, the imperfections in the walls would come out and they would fix them. Ha! The walls were painted but mistakes were just painted over even though they were obviously mistakes they made but just ignored them. Again we were forced to have them come out multiple times again to fix the areas that were missed in either the skim coating or the painting. After what took almost a month to complete (originally it was suppose to take about a week) we thought we were finally done. Ha again! The ceiling in the bathroom started to have the paint peel off of it. I asked another licensed drywall person that was working in my house on another project and he explained that the ceiling was not primed and the glue from the wallpaper was causing the paint to peel. I was able to get Miguel to send someone out to fix it but they only fixed part of the ceiling and then the other portion of the ceiling started peeling. Multiple attempts to get Gent and Miguel to come back out failed. Miguel canceled on me four times, one of which I took a day off of work to be at home for him. He always came up with some type of excuse and finally after the fourth time, would no longer take or return my phone calls. On top of that, every time we noticed something throughout the process that needed to be touched up, his people said that they would have to check with their boss and we were always told that we would have to pay more even thought it was originally suppose to be done as part of the original quote. Overall, I am very disappointed in my experience with Red Brush. Gent did try to help me constantly and said he would do what he could, but it only went so far since the work was subbed out to different contractors. The end result was that I needed to hire another licensed contractor to fix the problems I could not get Red Brush to fix. I would not do business with them again.

Went very well. Both workers, were cooperative, polite and skilled for taking care of the various issues.

On time & did a good job but needed to take a scrub revise to remove dirt from dieter areas my self.

Larry was great, professional, did nice quality work, was easy to talk to we worked out a good routine because of my schedule. I've already recommended him to two of my friends.

The quoting process was a little slow, it took over a week to get a quote, but the price that they gave me was very good compared to others. The painters and drywallers were very thorough. It took around 6 days for the job to be completed, which I thought was a little lond, but the job was definitely quality work.If you need a job done very quickly, then this is not the company for you. If price and quality are your main priorities, and you can wait a a little longer for the job to be completed, then you will be very happy with their work.

Overall I have to say it went well. With the exception of the mess left behind for me to clean up. I hadn't noticed it till later.

I called the company because of the deal I saw and felt quite confident after reading positive reviews. I gave them a phone call and left a message. None responded. I made a call next day. Same situation. I should have given up, but I was very interested in the deal. The next day I called again but I didnt left a message. Within 5 minutes the owner I believe returned the call. he said that someone will come to give me a qoute. When the day arrived I received a phone call that the owner someone is sick and they cannot come today. I said OK, no problem. None called me that day (it was Friday). The on Sunday evening I received a phone call from Michael Orlando who informed that he will come to give me an estimate the next day. So on Monday he called me that he will be later. Then he called me again that he cannot come, that he will be tomorrow. At this point my patience was almost gone. But I said fine. He came next day late, made some measurments and couldn't give me estimate until the evening. He offered me a six hours handyman special for $200 plus material and I decided to haul away the stuff myself. Well, i thought price is very good. When he came to do the job yesterday he was very talkative which drove me crazy (I am paying for every minute of his job not for chatting with me). Then a problem occured when he was tearing down the unit. There was no celing where the unit was. So after contacting his boss I was offered another 6 hrs handyman special and he mentioned a possible another 6 hrs. I didnt like that and I said to him that I expected to finish the job within 12 hrs. How much time it takes to measure and cut drywall, put mud and match popcorn celing????? 12hrs??? The whole in the ceiling was not so big.As it was getting late I knew he wont be able to finish today I suggested finishing tomorrow (i still had 2 hrs from the second 6 hrs special). Before he left I asked how much time he will need to finish the job today. He said 2 hrs.I asked him if he will be able to finish within this second 6 hrs special and he confirmed. Today he came again late. After 1,5 hr of his job there was not much progress and he informed he bought a wrong drywall and needed to go to exchange it. I asked him if he is putting the insulation in between the exterior wall and drywall (there was a vapour shield). He didn't see a need for that!!!! When I insisted I saw that he wanted to put a plastic thing that he used as a curtain!!!!! That was enough for me. Maybe I am a woman, on top of that very pregnant right now, but I hate when the job is done not professional. He was not professional at all. Not to mention the curtain he made to prevent the dust going everywhere. I have plenty of dust everywhere.I didnt want him to finish the job. I paid $400 dollars however I feel the work didnt deserve the money. I feel he didn't work efficiently and was not professional at all. And I also feel that he wanted to take an advantage that he was dealing with a pregnant woman.I definately DO NOT recommend this company

Jim, did a great job. Arrived on time was efficient and pleasant.

Miguel, came, performed service, work was done quickly and well.

Repaired ceiling and painted walls.

Worker was good, knowledgeable, knew what he was doing.

My only regret is that they sent only one worker who needed help getting the machine off the truck. In the process of lending a hand, I tore a bicep which now requires a three-month recuperation and severely limits my movement. My doctor told me I've lost 10% of my strength in that arm. In the future I will use a company that doesn't cut corners, even if pricier. 6/15:My doctor's most recent examination indicated that the loss in muscle strength is permanent and I will always a a deformed bicep. At this point I am unable to do light chores such as yardwork and garage reorganization.

He was on time and work fast and clean.

It went great the guy couldn't have been nicer and really took his time doing a great job.

Worked hard the entire time he was here.Went above and beyond the call of duty.

Everything was professional and punctual.

Jim arrived on time and worked for 7 1/2 hours will return to skin coat.

Overall I am very pleased with the job done by Jim of Red Brush Services.

l can only tell you about the start no work has been performed yet I think it starts on April 20th, but not totally sure yet as it is not been confirmed. I purchased the Angie's List coupon 6 hours labor for $ 199.00 beginning of March. I was contacted for an information/estimate 3 times than he came gave a verbal estimate and I asked for it in writing and nothing than Owner called said they were overwhelmed with business from Angie's List and I told him nothing happened yet so he made an appointment to come out with estimator to review job requirements and create a written estimate for me. They did come out we were not in a big rush to complete and they were very busy so after vacationaround April 20th the work would commence. Contractor did call on the 17th to see if we received the estimate and nothing more since that time. Today is April 19,2012. At this point my concern is the written estimate does not mention they already received the $ 199.00 but they did acknowledge verbally that it was received. I will post the outcome when it happens, I rated them an overall C (fair) at this point because it has been a shaky start but understanding that it is only because they are a little overwhelmed with the business created by the Company advertising on Angie's List response level being so great. So I am hoping for a great job performance on the 20th! This software does NOT recognize that work is not done yet even though it says check here if you re only working with an estimate, so I had to enter a date prior to this report to submit! ****UPDATE**** Estimate was $850.00 3 days to complete end result was; cost was $ 917.00 (including the $ 199.00 Angie's List coupon) and 3 days to complete exactly. To clarify the 3 days to complete were not all 8 hour days as there was need for drying time. The coupon 6 hours work for $ 199.00 that I purchased from the Angie's List site, what it really meant was the normal $55.00 hr labor rate would be reduced to $ 33.00 hr for 6 hours so the amount deducted from the estimate was $ 132.00 not the $ 199.00 I paid for the coupon which would have been $ 199.00 deducted from the $850.00 estimated cost.which was explained at the end of the project . In essence I paid $ 199.00 to save $ 132.00 which is exactly the $ 67.00 over estimate amount. I did not like the not the whole coupon deal, it was a gimmick. I would not do that again. I prefer estimate and paying 1/3 at acceptance,1/3 at start ,1/3 on completion and another estimate for any over run of the original estimate and yes with that I would use them again. The work was performed neatly, precisely as discussed. Miguel and Luis were very conscientious and professional they performed the tear out, drywall repair, painting, removal of bifold door and reinstalled in the other location, shelving and grout on tile to replace where the door was originally and the 2 replaced existing tiles. A tile person cut and installed the tile he too was very professional and courteous. Gant the owner of the company was very friendly and came by daily to inspect the project and explained the coupon deal, handled the payment for the services and follow up. The space turned out as I envisioned, I am very happy about that. One glitch was the molding on the bottom of the side wall should actually have been totally removed as the existing wall was off by 1/2 inch on bottom and all the measuring was done at the middle of the opening, which we discovered when we put the refrigerator into the space, so we removed it and the refrigerator fit into the space perfectly!
