This is a scam. The tech showed me a long sequence of corrupted files and told me that if I rebooted my computer I might lose everything (I also have carbonite so I was not worried). I was asked what brand of computer I had and what was its main use. By answering that it was built by my son and was for my personal use, I believe I identified myself as the perfect mark for the scam. I was subjected to 1 hour of a hard sell to pay $209.95 to fix everything with 1 year of free tech support. I was also told that my computer guy could not fix the problem because he "did not have the microsoft keys". I declined the offer and hung up only to discover that my computer was extremely slow and I could no longer get online. I called my computer guy and he came out the next morning. The problem was fixed in less than 5 minutes. The PC Security Shield tech installed his software so that it took precedence over all other systems, thus, denying internet service. We uninstalled the software and he suggested using google spyware instead. My sister also was subjected to this same scam. She paid the money because she was having problems with her computer at the time. I was not. I resigned myself to accept a $40.00 lesson in gullibility. I was still angry and decided to call back and complain to PC Security. Their response was to ask if they could take over control of my computer and install their software. I hung up after telling them I did not wnt their software and was going to report them on this list. Stay way from this company.
Description of Work: I had used their antivirus software for 2 years. When I renewed online I was emailed instructions for updating the software. I had a question about which version I needed to remove first. The support line tech asked if he could cointrol my computer and install it himself. After spending 1 hour on the phone I was no longer able to get online even though the new sotware was installed. I was the offered a $209.95 fix that would "fix" my corrupted computer. I declined.
