On April 1 Patios Pools and Driveways were contracted to install a simple concrete driveway but the bottom half of the driveway was not poured or finished properly. This resulted in a lumpy uneven finish with gouges, chips and cracks and it does not drain properly. They were paid $5000 in full. My mistake!! Brad came around looking for full payment as they were working on the job because he said he needed to pay people in his office. This should have been my first clue there was a problem if he was so desperate for money that he didn't have enough to pay his employees. When the contractor who works for PPD finished the job that evening he admitted that it was not good and that I should contact Brad which I did just hours after he left with my check. This was a Friday and he didn't have the decency to even come look at the problem until Wednesday of the following week. I knew then I was screwed but he kept assuring me that they would make the job right. That was April 1 and now 6 months later he has refused to correct his mistake and make the job right. He now has resorted to blaming the company that delivered the concrete but I was watching the whole time and the concrete was poured at exactly the time the contractor asked them to pour. The concrete delivery company did not leave the job until all the concrete was poured and the contractor told them it was OK to leave. There was only one person working on this job and he obviously could not finish the concrete quickly enough on his own. This is when the concrete began to dry and because it started to set he could not get it smooth. It resulted in a very lumpy and poor job. I could have done better with sacks of concrete bought at Home Depot and a 2x4 to smooth it out. This company will rip you off. If anyone insists on doing business with them do not, I repeat, do not pay them in full until you are completely satisfied with the job. Obviously that was my mistake but I did not expect the level of deceit and shady business practices that I have dealt with in the last 6 months. After reading several reviews with similar complaints I can only I can only surmise that this company is criminal in nature. Stay away.

We dealt with the owner Brad and we were given a discount for cash. At the same time we inquired about screening the existing patio area for a total of $4400.00. We paid a deposit of $440.00. The overlay was finished and we were told it would not stain from dirt/sprinklers because it was sealed. It's 6 months later and is staining. The screening was never done because the fees quoted did not include any permits which were extremely pricey. They offered to do the work without pulling permits which we did not do. They owe us a measly $260.00 refund. I've called the office 3 x a week for months speaking with Emere (the office manager) who was fabulous. Over and over she gave a reason why the refund was not forthcoming, Brad was sick, Brad was on vacation, Brad was busy. I even sent a letter with a self addressed stamped envelope for return of my refund. Here we are 6 months after the fact. My patio is not enjoyable because they cheat people. I've also filed a report with the BBB!

Our records indicate the work was done to [Member Name Removed] satisfaction. Unfortunately, we cannot guarantee that the sealer we use is 100% stain-proof. There is nothing in the market that will guarantee 100% stain-proof. It doesn't exist. The sealer we use is 100% stain-resistant. It helps decrease the chances of staining. However, all cases are different and some have minimal staining and other do not. Again - we cannot guarantee a 100% stain proof project.

After giving the 50% deposit a contractor came to our house a couple days later to begin the project. Everything started well ...until it came time to paint the patio. I was told by the contractor that if I wanted more than one color I'd have to pay more. I did get a hold of Brad (owner) who said that was not true, I could pick more colors if I chose. I told the contractors that I wanted the patio to look like the picture of the patio on the yard sign they placed in my yard. I quickly learned that the contractor had no idea how to paint the "gradient style" that was in that picture. I had to explain to him how to achieve the look. After teaching him how to paint it, I learned that I was only the third job the contractor had ever done with Patios Pools & Driveways. We reached out several times to the owner, Brad, about concerns we were experiencing. Unfortunately, Brad never came to see the work the contractors did, nor seemed to care. Although the patio did not end up looking like the picture we wanted, we decided to live with what they were able to do. Unfortunately, once the contractors finished putting the top coat on I paid the final 50%. That was a HUGE MISTAKE. After 3 days of staying off the patio as was instructed, I discovered that they never cleaned the cement they left all around the coping of my pool. And, they sealed the jet spa knob shut when they sealed the patio. It has now been 3 months since my initial deposit and I am STILL waiting for someone to finish cleaning the mess they left behind. I've called the owner, the contractor, and emailed the main office many times to no response. My warning to all ? Wait at least 3 or 4 days once it is sealed and you are able to walk on the patio and inspect it before you submit your final payment.

Brad (sales guy) had already completed a $8k back yard patio/pool project which went well so I hired them to repair / strip / re-seal my driveway. I had originally asked for a quote to replace the entire driveway but Brad recommended i simply repair, clean, seal it and it would look great - full replacement given the large driveway and style of my home would be overkill. So, the refreshed driveway was only $2k which included about 20-25% of the pavers being removed and re-set along with the cement border replaced. As in the previous job, no payment until completion which took about 3 days. They were on schedule, on budget, cleaned up after themselves, and did a great job. I did not get multiple estimates, but am happy with the amount given the amount of work i saw the 4 guys doing over 3 days. Driveway looks and quot;new againand quot;!

I called and spoke to Brad (sales guy) who came out promptly and provided a professional estimate and package. He also agreed to accommodate an aggressive timeline as I had friends flying in for a weeks stay and wanted to have a usable back yard. Payment with these guys is UPON COMPLETION OF THE JOB for the most part, however I did agree to pay when the slab replacement of the deck occurred, and then the balance upon final completion. A low-risk scenario given my past experiences within other contractors! The job went very well, workers were out remove the deck and pouring concrete on schedule and worked around weather conditions and other contract work happening at the same time. The stamped concrete phase went just as well and joined both the patio previous deck area seamlessly to create a back yard I was proud of. Brad ALWAYS answered my calls or responded immediately to voice mail as i had questions throughout the project. The project overall was on budget, on time, a quality job, and cleaned up afterwards. I didn't get multiple estimates given the timing and and quot;no riskand quot; payment policy, so I can't fully comment on the pricing rating but did not feel overcharged, so generally i thought the price was fair. Since this went well I also hired them to clean/reseal the front driveway - see separate review if interested.
Description of Work: Patio pool project to replace rotting deck area with concrete slab and stamped concrete over entire deck, patio, and pool wrap around to update my 50 year old patio. No work done on my house for since I purchased it 15 years ago, so the back patio and deck were very bad with "indoor tile" outside and a rotting deck area everywhere.

First, I will say the final product does look very good. And these people did a neighbor's of mine and his does too. Getting there? THAT was the problem. The sales rep, Roger, is professional, says all the right things, has all the right materials on hand, seems sincere and made it easy to come to an agreement. We discussed colors, design ideas and he assured me and quot; You can review color samples with the technician before any work is doneand quot;, etc. The problems started on day 1 of the install. DAY 1: The 2 technicians, I'll call them and quot;Moron 1and quot; and and quot;Moron 2and quot;, pressure washed everything prepped the brick walkway, covered the walkway in plastic and left, due to potential rain, with the intention of returning the next day to continue. That's fine. An hour or so after they left, I exited my garage (couldn't go by the front door) and I was shocked! I have an intricate landscape design in front of the house, involving paver bricks built on three levels, with sections having plants, others with river rocks, others with grass, and one section with a fountain. I built it by hand. Me. and quot;Moron 1 and 2and quot; removed the bricks out of several sections of the design to 'hold down' the plastic sheeting! This left the packed dirt exposed to start tumbling down the sides from my sprinkler or rain. Worse, the bricks are designed to and quot;lockand quot; into place, were installed in a set pattern and in order to put everything back took an hour of trial and error. I was appalled they would do this. I was furious. Now normally, I'm actually pretty east to satisfy. Do what you say you will, take care with my property and odds are, we're never going to have a problem. I also understand whenever you hire contractors, you're going to get a snag or two. I get it. But I just can't believe that ANYBODY would have looked at that landscape design and think and quot;Let me just pull that apart to hold down this $2 sheet of plasticand quot;. I called and complained to Roger who was of course apologetic. I asked why would they do that and he said and quot; They probably needed something to hold down the plasticand quot;, which was exactly what I expected he'd say. I then asked what would they have used if I didnt conveniently have all those brinks laying around doing nothing? (Other than holding up my landscape wall, of course) The truth is, they should have something on hand for this. That can't be the only sheet of plastic they've ever done that with. In the end, Roger said they'd not be paid for the day and would be fired, that 2 new people would come out to finish and he offered a small discount for my aggravation. As the job had been started, and he'd agreed to replace M1 and M2, I agreed. DAY 2: Who shows up to complete the job? and quot;Moron 1 and Moron 2and quot;. I told them how mad I was at what they'd done and they barely offered an apology. I stopped them, told them to pack up and leave, which they did. I then started calling other companies (from Angie's list) to bid to complete the job. (I travel a lot, and doing this NOW was really important to me) At this point, I'd have paid more, a LOT more to anyone who could step in and do the rest of the job. I was on the phone with one guy who offered to stop by that afternoon to look at it, when PPand T called back. They were sending 2 new people to finish within the hour. After a heated conversation, I agreed, for the same reason as before. I can't leave the driveway 1/2 finished for any length of time and they were to be back in an hour. Any time (I mean EVERY time) I went out to talk with the supervisor about something, I found him on the phone and he would keep talking without so much as acknowledging me, until I interrupted him One time, just out of curiosity, I waited just to see how long he'd keep talking but after 7 minutes, I decided enough was enough. That's right. He had a customer right in front of him for SEVEN minutes and didn't so much as say and quot;I'll be right with youand quot;. Once I got him off the phone, we discussed colors and I also picked out a specific, circular, 2-color design for the entry. I gave him color diagrams of the entry way with the circular design, along with photos I'd printed showing designs featuring colors I was looking for. DAY 3: They showed up, and without so much as ringing my bell, started to color the and quot;tilesand quot;. Roger had said the techs would show me the colors before actually doing any work, they didn't. And of course, the color shades were wrong. When I asked the tech why he started without checking with me, I quickly found out he really didn't speak English. AND . . . his supervisor wasn't even there. The tech had to get his supervisor on the phone to talk with me and then act as translator, and said he'd be back in 20 minutes. The supervisor came back, we talked colors again and he then left for the rest of the afternoon, so I was again stuck with 2 people I could barely talk to. It took 3 tries to get the right colors and shades, in spite of the fact I'd had color photos of what I was looking for. The circular design was colored completely wrong, in spite of the fact that I gave them a COLOR DRAWING of what I wanted. Coloring it took THREE tries as well, because the technician COULDN'T UNDERSTAND ME. When they were and quot;finishedand quot; and said they were about to apply the sealer, I said and quot;Waitand quot;, inspected the job and saw several places where and quot;tile dyeand quot; was still on the grout, over just a 10sf area. I pointed them out and they and quot;removed them, were ready to and quot;seal itand quot; again, I took another look and quickly found there were still SEVERAL places needing touch up. They just weren't really looking. I had to do this a THIRD time. At this point I got mad and told them and quot;Don't ask me to inspect it again until you're doneand quot;. In the end, we had to walk it over, foot-by-foot, to get all the color dye out of the grout. I truly feel they were just tired, they didn't care anymore and just wanted to go home. Bottom line: The finished product looks great, but I it was very frustrating and I had to stay on top of their techs at every step of the way. I've already had neighbors I don't even really know stop to admire the driveway and I've told both of them not to use this company. For all the trouble, I would NEVER do business with these people again and cannot recommend them.
