DISTINCTIVE KITCHENS & BATHS

Working with Distinctive Kitchens & Baths was truly a nightmare. This was a renovation of a 6000+ sq foot home along the Intracoastal Waterway and the scope and cost of the materials and installation from Distinctive Kitchens was substantial. They most definitely were not up to the job. We suffered constant insults and lies, literally every cabinet was defective, the installation was amateurish and often damaged other parts of the rooms in which they were working. They insulted other subcontractors working in the house. They did not complete work that we had contracted with them and paid them for. After a few tries where they only made matters worse, they told us they weren't coming back because we posted bad reviews on Yelp and Facebook. Well, at least they told they told the truth and kept their word about that one thing.

Several years ago Distinctive remodeled my kitchen and master bathroom. I wrote a scathing review for their poor workmsnship, errors, and punctuality. They returned recently to repair some issues I was having and IT IS LIKE A DIFFERENT COMPANY. They must have reorganized because they have been punctual each visit, repaired all that was incorrectly done, the workmanship was meticulous, workers pleasant, and the follow up and appointment scheduler was perfect. If I had to use this company again at this time , I most certainly would. WHAT A PLEASANT SURPRISE!!

Nothing happened so far to make it better.......next appointment is 3/28/2014 and hopefully they will fix everything then!

Very late starting job despite promise to start punctually. Many mistakes in ordering and installation with months needed for reorders , etc... work was done by outside independent? employees despite promise that the company employs their own workers and uses their own staff to insure quality.? Quality of work and finishing is average to poor. Poor to no communication and No one to oversee job.? Workers were able to do whatever they wanted and however they wanted with no one to oversee.?The job went on for about 1 year 6 months! Update: They did come back and fix the space between the Quartz and the sink, and reimburse me for all of the breakage, and poor work.

They were very easy to work with. The gentleman that I dealt with the whole time was always really good with me.

There are a really good company. They are very professional and on time. Overall a very good service.

There is nothing negative I can say about them. They did an excellent job. The owners name is Adam and everyone he sent was great. They got the job done in three weeks.

The last worker from Distinctive Kitchens has just left my house, and I stand here looking at a BEAUTIFUL new kitchen. The new cabinets are well made and installed very well. Without a doubt, we are really going to enjoy this kitchen. BUT -- Based on my experience, I would never recommend Distinctive Kitchens (DK) to anybody. I can't imagine any company making as nice of a product, but the process of getting it done was not worth the effort. We signed our contract and wrote our first check to DK October 2011. We were told repeatedly that getting the project done by December 19th would be and quot;no problem.and quot; Today is March 12th, 2012, and we just finished. The reasons were given for the delay by the man who made the sale and ID'd himself as the and quot;project managerand quot; ranged from production delays (reasonable -- it happens), to not realizing what our deadline was (deceptive, plain and simple) and/or not realizing that an inspection was required for electrical work and that it was going to make us lose a week. This last item bothers me the most because it demonstrates either ineptitude (after hundreds of installs, the procedure should be pretty standard so a routine inspection won't throw your schedule off by so much) or worse, flat-out deception. Either way, my confidence in this company and there sales rep/designer/and quot;project managerand quot; was lost. My other issue with the project management is communication. It should be routine (as it is w/ other contractors that I've worked with) to let the customer know when work was to begin in the morning, any scheduling updates, and project status on a fairly regular basis (once per week seems fair). In this case, my communication w/ DK was mostly one-way. Again, the effort and level of service dropped once money was exchanged. Our and quot;project managerand quot; from DK visited the site only twice during the 10 weeks of the project: Once, at my insistence, to mark the position of hanging lights to avoid a cabinet door -- and once to pick-up his second check. After the install, many design errors were discovered. To the great credit of the DK installation supervisor, he worked hard to solve every one of them satisfactorily even though it took some time and new fabrication. During the days of working through these issues, the and quot;project managerand quot; never once came to see what the issue was even though they came from his designs. How will he avoid them in the future if isn't interested in seeing them first hand? More distressing during this time, he also didn't call or email me once to insure I, his customer, was feeling good about the solutions. As I said, all in all, I love our new kitchen. BUT -- we could have done better. There are, I'm sure, other companies that make just as fine a product but have a better handle on the customer service/communication/competence end of the job. Multiple times, I reached out to the company owner via phone and email, and never received the courtesy of a response. If you need a new kitchen, you can do better than we did, too.
