I did a chat on ADT on September 5th to replace a door sensor that I took off about a year ago. I talked to Christine. She told me it would cost $100.00 to get a door sensor. After about a 20-minute conversation, she convinced me to get your BOGO special. I agreed to that and informed her that she could add a motion sensor to the door sensor. When I got the email confirmation, I immediately contacted ADT via chat and was connected to Christine. I explained that the wrong order was submitted. She told me that she would cancel the old order and put in the correct order. I asked her about the charge for the old order. She told me that a refund would appear on my credit card. I got the correct order in my email. On aSeptember 6th, I noticed that both the wrong order and correct order appeared on my FedEx account as Label created WAITING to be picked up. I called the 800 number, and it connected me to ADT. I explained what had happened. He said that FedEx already had the package, so it couldn't be canceled. He informed me that both packages had a FedEx return label in each box. Both boxes came in today. Neither one had a FedEx return label. From the 5th until now, your customer service has been giving me the runaround on this issue. Because of the lack of customer service, I want to send BOTH PACKAGES BACK. I've been a loyal customer of ADT for 17 years. That has to count for something. In a reputable business, it does. With ADT, not so much. Should I decide to cancel, I may also send the CEO as well as the rest of the board of ADT the reason why I canceled and signed with their competitor. As I stated, I've been a customer for 17 years. A PAYING CUSTOMER. On 10/17/2024 my ADT account had a balance of $0.00. Today, 10/18/2024 it showed a balance of $-133.14. ADT UNLAWFULLY CHARGED my credit card. They did not have my permission to charge my credit card in OCTOBER. Doing so is a crime. When I called them they said that they would send a check. I told them that sending a check is unacceptable. They charged my credit card in one day, they can return the funds in one day, not seven to ten days. That charge incurred interest. This is yet another reason I left ADT after 17 years as a loyal customer

Rene Mendez from ADT came to our house on 6/15/15 and immediately noted the lack of smoke detector monitoring, and installed new wireless detectors. ADT is Very Lucky that we had no fire. ALWAYS MAKE SURE THAT ADT CHECKS EVERYTHING, ESPECIALLY the smoke detectors! I am still waiting to hear back about my formal complaint
Description of Work: We recently found out that the 3 smoke detectors in our home have been disconnected from ADT since we moved into our home! Our development has a representative, Judi Feduneic, who sold me a system and arranged for a technician, Jason Shepard. Neither one of them mentioned or checked our smoke detectors, as it turns out. Over a year later, another tech came out and was appalled that we have not had our 3 smoke detectors monitored for over a year!

They're okay. I think my husband pays about $47 a month. The responsiveness was actually very good.

Installation was smooth and on time. The installer was knowledgeable and helpful, and he advised us about less expensive options. Since we had the system installed, we have had one break-in attempt and two false-alarms. The break-in was foiled when the alarm system was activated, and the false-alarms were due to a problem with the house that was since rectified. All contact with ADT has been positive and helpful. Our home is not in Florida, so this is a review for the national company, not a local provider.

I used the service for 15 months and cancelled on 12/21/2009. Upon cancelling the service, ADT informed me that I have a 3 year contract. I told them that this is not true. I never agreed to a contract, nor did I sign anything. ADT informed me that they will be sending me a bill for 75% of $32 X the remaining 21 months of the so-called contract, totalling approximately $505. They said that if I fail to pay it, they wil forward my account to a collection agency. ADT is attempting to fraudulently collect money from me that I do not owe. I never signed a contract, nor did I make any oral or written agreements with them regarding terms of a contract. The service was activated under the strict condition that it was on a month-to-month basis and that I could cancel at any time. ADT made no concessions for my case, since I already owned the equipment. After researching ADT on the internet, I found hundreds of similar complaints about them. They are oviously scam-artists, liars and cheats. I would never use this company again.
Description of Work: I purchased a home in 2008 that had an ADT security system that was installed by the previous owner. I activated the alarm with ADT under the condition that it was on a month-to-month basis, with no contract. I was assured by the sales person that there was no contract or cancellation fee.

They never disconnected service in the apartment as we requested. Instead they have been double billing, once from my husbands account, the other from mine, and in the process of moving, which cost $600, they changed us from a one year contract to a 3 year without telling us. Once my contract is up I will never use them again. Half the time the system doesn't even work.
Description of Work: I hired them to install an alarm system at my apartment in January. We were moving so I told them as of April we wouldn't need it anymore there and we wanted to move it to our new house. We had them come out the 18th of April for the new system. They installed a smoke alarm right above my stove, which doesn't make any sense. I can't cook! Then I couldn't get my keypad to work, they said it was user error.

Horrible service! First, they had our address wrong and were monitoring a house that doesn't even exist for 2-3 months. They never sent us statements when they drafted our account. They called us repeatedly about alarms and system outages and failed test signals. Overall it was overpriced, the customer service was non-existent, terms were confusing to the layman, and we found it impossible to cancel the service after all of this. We sold the house but they kept saying they couldn't stop monitoring for 30-days. In the mean time, someone else moves in who doesn't have the code to our system. I don't even know how many times emergency personnel were sent over there after we moved. It was such a hassle!
Description of Work: ADT installed a security system in our home. There was a panel in the front room, two door monitors, a fire detector, a glass break monitor, and a key fob that could arm/disarm the system.
