Do not use Salty Dog! My pool equipment suction stopped working a few days after Salty Dog resurfaced the pool and filled it. Fred said the pump was bad and $700 to replace it. That didn’t fix the problem. Then Fred said the filter was bad and $500 to replace it. That didn’t fix the problem. Then Fred said the pump was sucking in air and wouldn’t prime therefore there was a clog. He told me to call Red Rhino. I paid Red Rhino $150 to find out the inexpensive valves on the pump were bad and recommended they be replaced with longer lasting $60 Jandy valves because the inexpensive valves only last a couple years. I asked Fred to cover the cost of one Jandy valve and he went off on me. He raised his voice and cut me off when I tried to talk. He repeatedly said he was tired of people ripping him off. He made a lot more than $60 off replacing the pump and filter that weren’t broken. I later confirmed with another pool company that these inexpensive valves are notorious for breaking after a couple years and can easily be tested by running a water hose over the valve to see if the pump primes. Salty Dog replaced a $700 pump and $500 instead of 2 cheap valves! In addition, I paid Salty Dog $200 to do the 30 day start up. Since they mishandled the equipment problem, the pool did not get the proper start up process. To make matters worse, my neighbors saw Fred at my house a couple hours later loading my new pump and filter in his truck. I texted him to return the equipment. He texted back that he hadn’t invoiced so they were not paid for. So I texted for him to install my old equipment. Unfortunately, part of the old pump was cut off and there was a one in the filter. Vandalism?? If you hire Salty Dog and everything goes smooth, then you probably won’t see Fred’s angry and unprofessional side.

First class all the way. They responded to the Angie's List inquiry right away and came out at our convenience to give a quote. The sales approach was informative, not pushy. They listened to what we wanted and didn't try to upsell. The salesman was personable and was a former customer of this business which spoke volumes. We waited a month or so before moving forward and they didn't call to push. Their quote came in slightly higher than the lowest, but well below the highest. Once we called with the green light, the project was done within a week. Everything went exactly as they told us it would. The price came in as quoted (though they did warn us about what could possibly go wrong - thankfully it didn't). Done and done. I highly recommend Salty Dog Pools.

Work was supposed to take up to two weeks. One sub only came to work at 10:00 and left at 2:00, and missed 3 days. There were delays due to screen enclosure settings.
