RUN, don't walk away. If it were possible to give negative stars, that's what Big Hammer has earned. Hired them for a workshop/garage build. They didn't even level the area properly. Todd and Marcia Kirkland refused to have an inspection done once we discovered they had been lying from day one so they could collect more than $135,000. We stopped paying them once we found they had been defrauding us. They have yet to fulfill a single item of the scope of work, refused to provide a schedule for the work. Completely failed to build to the engineering plans. Defrauded the county bldg dept to save on permit fees. Refuse to provide insurance info. Building is 1'7" shorter than plans because Todd Kirkland didn't level the surface using ANY transom or even a line level. They blame to engineer. State regulators are useless, "it's a civil matter" even after regulators were provided evidence of fraud and willful misconduct (DBPR is supposed to enforce regulations involving contractors). Bottom line Todd and Marcia Kirkland are con artists plain and simple. A check of civil suits against them in Levey county will confirm for yourself. DO NOT USE BIG HAMMER! YOU WILL REGRET IT!

It was a pleasure working with the Kirkland's (Big Hammer Construction). They were courteous, thoughtful, knowledgeable and very helpful in working with us to bring our vision to life. It was always collaborative and they offered many useful ideas that enhanced the project We are very happy with results. We are impressed enough that we look forward to working with them again on future projects. Highly recommended

Big Hammer Construction was very knowledgeable and professional from the quote to the end of the project. They were able to provide us with several different effects for the look we were trying to achieve, even after asking them to add a few other projects to the list.

This company has worked well with me doing repairs due to water damage to my home. Mr. Kirkland has given suggestions, advice, and more than met my expectations on doing the repairs. He has worked well with my Insurance Company to secure a fair settlement for the needed repairs. His work crews are truly appreciated. They are hard workers, quiet as possible, and very mannerly. The work is not yet completed and I will do a follow-up review at that time, but as of the current date, I would recommend them highly!

If you ever heard of a horse whisperer, then Todd is a house whisperer. We hired him to do a number of things needed to get insurance on an old house we purchased. He got everything done literally the day after we moved in and came in under budget. And the insurance agency was able to sign off on the repairs needed to maintain the insurance policy less than a week after moving in. We couldn't be happier. He also identified a number of crucial repairs that our original inspector (from a different company) missed. For example, the original inspector found two issues with the electrical and that is part of what we hired Todd to fix. When Todd was fixing this with his crew, they found several other electrical fire hazards in the attic and went ahead and fixed them without addition charges. For another example of spotting something the original inspector missed, a support beam was removed and is missing from the front porch where the roof is now beginning to tilt and fall without support. This is very noticeable now that it has been pointed out to me but it was missed by the original inspector. Todd noticed it right away and gave us a fair estimate on how much it would be to repair. Additionally, after completing the work we needed for insurance, Todd was able to offer new four point and wind mitigation inspection paperwork to further lower our insurance cost. I highly recommend Todd's services for work needed. Go with him for the original inspection before buyinge a house. He has a seasoned eye for this stuff and shows a sincere attitude to provide the best service for his clients and isn't trying to push any services. And when it came to getting the repairs done we needed for insurance on the house we just purchased, he got it done literally in one day after we moved in. And went above and beyond fixing additional things not noted by the insurance company paperwork without additionally charges. Like I said, he came in under budget and then saved us money on insurance. We are pleased with the work and will be using his company for a number of other projects in the future such as remodeling a bathroom.
