went fine - they did the work quickly, cleaned up well and were done.

I have used them in the past and gave them high marks... I do feel they are very expensive. HOWEVER I had them come evaluate a rather large oak at my new home 18 months ago because my neighbor said an arborist had told him my tree was rotten inside and would come down. Because I trusted the work Paul had done for me in the past, I had him come evaluate the tree and trim all the trees to get them storm season ready. I knew he was expensive, but I trusted him. Paul assured me that the tree was solid and healthy and I had about 10-15 years left with the tree. I opted to have it thinned out instead of removing. Three days before Irma hit I called and he sent an estimator out to look at the tree and another one out front. He quoted me $1200 to trim 2 oak trees, including the one in question. The tree came down during Irma... a mere 18 months later, and it was rotten to the core inside... Shouldn't a certified arborist know how to evaluate the health of the tree? When I texted Paul about what happened, twice, he never responded. Use at your own risk... when I mention his company to other tree companies who are estimating the job, they all roll their eyes.... again, use at your own risk. He charges way too much. He's good at spinning the tale to make you think he's the best, and he's worth the high price you pay. They're not. I bought his song and dance as a widow handling stuff I had never had to deal with before. I spent a lot of money with him over the last 4 years... he's taken out probably 8 trees for me at my former home.. but that will never happen again. Buyer beware. I HATE, HATE, HATE to leave bad reviews... I just don't do it. If I can't say anything nice, i usually say nothing...and it really makes me sad when a business I trusted and thought was a good resource turns out to not be. This may sound silly, but it feels like a betrayal. I'm disappointed and very sad. But I would hate for this to happen to someone else.

Great! They were polite, professional and prompt! They worked on trees as shown above and also ground stup of removed tree. This was very good timing because Florida had a hurricane 2 weeks later!

When permits were pulled for fence construction I call Sunbelt who squeezed us in two days later. They arrives on time and completed everything as agreed to. The guys knocked down a couple sections of fence in order to grind stumps. Great service and wouldn't hesitate to use them again.

This could not have gone more smoothly. Paul came out and looked over everything, made recommendations on what we should do, what we should not do (so as not to harm or kill trees unnecessarily), and what methods would be best considering the location and situation of the major trees. We agreed on a price and he set a date for the project. He said his crew would arrive at 8AM, he would be there, all the heavy equipment would arrive on time (bucket truck, crane, choppers, hauling, etc.) and sure enough, everyone was there when he said they would be. He had a very large crew (total of 14 I think, with Paul, the crane operator, the stump grinder, and all the various workers) and they worked like a well oiled machine. They started at 8AM, finished by 1:45, within 15 minutes of what Paul had estimated it would take. Everything was done carefully, the yard and trees look great and they cleaned up like they hadn't been there. What I especially appreciated was the care Paul and his crew take in pruning/cutting the trees. They don't just lop off branches, but really look at the tree and determine where and how to cut so that the finished result still looks like a beautiful, healthy, naturally shaped tree. I would recommend them to anyone.

I contacted this company after a few tries I finally got a returned phone call from Paul. I scheduled an appointment and Joe came by and gave me a quote. I left several messages stating I wanted to go ahead and have them trim my palms. Price seemed reasonable and overall I know you are busy but I never received a call back. I tried one last time and nothing. So I will now look for another vendor.

Joe gave me an estimate but I never heard from him again. He was a nice guy but not following through with his estimate is unprofessional.

Tim was excellent to work with - everything done as agreed, with no surprises. Knowledgeable crew with good equipment and professional conduct. Tim was also very helpful to me in followup work that was necessary for our building project. He made himself easily available and communicated well. Highly recommended.

Contacted Sunbelt Tree Service through Angie's List email. Got an email reply to contact Joe. I called Joe and scheduled a 4 pm meeting and Joe never showed nor called.

We moved into a foreclosure that was vacant for two years. The trees were overgrown and ugly. I contacted Joe at The Sunbelt Tree Service. Their pricing was a lot lower than some of the other guys. I was skeptical at first, but when he and his team showed up they had the work done QUICKLY! Even better, it looked great! They did exactly what they said they were going to do. Now that we've lived in this house a little bit we decided to have the viburnum hedges removed. I just placed a call to have them come out and quote me again. I was impressed the first time around and they are my first choice to give them more business.

I did not "supervise" their services - they had a supervisor on site and about 6-7 guys working overall. However, when they were done with the trees, I came out to review and settle the bill. I was please at the SPEED they had performed the work, but the trees looked like they had been butchered. The trees were not even, they were terribly misshapen, big holes were evident in the canopy, etc. When I asked the supervisor, he mentioned that there was more dead in the center than anticipated and he "felt" they needed to have a 25% reduction in the crown. I did not argue with supervisor at the time. My BIG mistake. The arborist came back out to review the work and he was flabbergasted!!! He took multiple pictures of each of the trees and said he would use these pictures as examples of what NOT to do. I then went back to Sunbelt management and said that the price I paid for the work was unacceptable. They reviewed the trees and said that they agreed that it was poorly done and even said that the same supervisor had botched another job recently. They offered a $700 discount. I disagreed and asked for a 50% discount, or $1,100. The owner AGREED to this amount and said he would send it via mail. After several weeks, I called several times with no response. I spoke to the other partner (Tim) and he said he would follow-up since the first partner was the one that does the books. Again, several weeks go by with NO response. FINALLY, I called again and spoke with the owner. He was belligerent with me and told me he was only going to send $1,000 and not the agreed upon $1,100. When I asked why, he rudely told me that he felt the trees were done 'well enough' and they would 'probably survive' and told me he didn't think it was worth the full $1,100 refund. I told him that I was very disappointed in his response, but told him to do what he knew to be right. Again, several weeks went by with no check in the mail. I again, called the office and spoke to partner Tim. He then rudely informed me that they had decided NOT to give any refund and that my claims were baseless and full of s***. I have since been to the Better Business Bureau and lodged a complaint there as well. The Sunbelt partners were extremely rude, unprofessional, and condescending to me and to others in my neighborhood who were considering using their service. They have all since selected another vendor based on my experience.

We had a neighbor behind us that moved out 2 years ago and the house is in foreclosure. The humongous tree had large branches hanging over into my yard and it was becoming dangerous. Was told by HOA they are my responsibility to get rid of them. Received 2 estimates and Joe Davis's estimate was the best. He came out with his crew and trimmed the tree back as far as he could. We were amazed at the time spent (only 1 hour and half) the expertise of the crew and Joe himself. Clean up no problem done in a matter of minutes. Would definitely use him again.

Joe Davis came to give us an estimate on 6/11/15. After three other estimates from other companies, we accepted Joe's bid for the work. After several calls to Joe to set a time and date, we were told each time that he had not heard back from "his boss" to confirm the job.. Finally, on Wed. 6/17, I called him again and left him a message to let us know if he could do the work prior to 6/26/15 or not. He called me back and said unfortunately he could not get a commitment from his boss. He was very apologetic and told me to go with another company. Within five minutes, he called again to say we were on for the job for the very next day 6/18 at 4 PM. He had just gotten the commitment from his boss. I told him that was great news, and asked if he would be there to oversee the work. He said yes. On Thursday June 18th around 11:20 AM, quite a few men and many trucks started arriving at the home. I was told 4 PM, so I was surprised by the early time. No one had called to let me know that the job had been moved up in schedule. I was fine with the time, but concerned that Joe was not there. I asked where Joe was to oversee the crew and was told he would be coming. No one knew what was to be done, so everything had to be be explained to Tim. Men were everywhere with very little direction nor assignment to specific jobs. There was no leadership. Joe did not show until the job was just about finished. Actually, some of his "climbers" had already left the job telling him the job was "finished". Once Joe arrived, I assured him it was NOT, and no one had told any one it was. Joe, then handled the oak tree completion himself as well as directed some of his men to finish the trimming. The work got done, but it would have gone much more efficiently and effectively, if Joe could have been there at the beginning when the crew arrived. Every crew needs a leader to oversee the work and to provide direction. Joe's a nice guy, but he should have kept his word on being there to oversee the job. His company must have problems with communication between the owners, their sales representatives, and their customers.

Update: Removed the C rating and giving you an A as promised. Thank you for your responsiveness. M- Vendor lists an an Apopka address and lists their service area as "ENTIRE AREA". This is not true, they are actually based in Maitland and do not service Mount Dora in Lake County. They were very friendly and apologetic but they also wasted my time. I value the accuracy of Angie's Lists descriptions and service areas to filter out merchants who can't service me. If you don't put in accurate information you not only waste my time and your time but also de-value the good money I pay for my Angie's List subscription. Giving them a C for mis-leading advertising. Update your Angie's List listing and I will retract. M-

They were very fast, professional, and well priced. Left my yard in pristine condition, and charged significantly less than another company's quote. Would use them again

There was a huge team that came out for this work. It took them several hours to get everything done. They cleaned up well and appeared to give much more care to the tree and my property than another service I used in the past. They were not the least expensive, but I'm happy with the result. Hopefully the tree will do better as it gets warmer!

I contacted the provider on Tuesday (10/21/14) and after contacting the provider made an appointment for Saturday (1025/14 for him to arrive between 9:30 and 10. He did not show up until around 12. The time was based on when he said he would show up. I guess he forgot about that discussion. He gave me an estimate and within 30 minutes I called him back to confirm we wanted to use his services. He said he was scheduling us for the following Saturday (11/1/14) but said he had a big job at Sysco and said he was uncertain if he could make it that day but would get there soon after. I told him I would give him access to the neighborhood for the entire week (guard gate requires this). I did not here from him and decided to call him on Tuesday (11/4/14) and left him a message wondering when he would get the job done. I did not hear back from him and called him on Thursday (11/6/14). He answered the phone and said he had several big jobs going on but was going to look at his schedule and give me a call back in the afternoon to schedule. Today is Sunday (11/0/14) and I have still not heard back from him. My guess is that he has the Sysco job and several other large projects and pushes the less profitable and value projects to the side until he has time. This is unfortunate for a provider to do and should be considered when thinking of using this company for services.)

Paul and his crew were punctual, and as always, very polite and professional. They worked efficiently and accomplished a lot in a short time. And, as usual, they cleaned up and hauled away all debris. They are a first class outfit and I would hire them again.

Sunbelt Tree Service is listed by Angie's List as covering the entire area, and comes up first in my search for an arborist to look at two declining queen palms in our yard in Clermont. Joe at Sunbelt very nicely told me that since his crews are in Maitland that wasn't enough to accept our business, apparently even if both trees needed to be taken out. He reluctantly offered to maybe drive by if he was in the area and give us a diagnosis, or he could make some inquiries and let us know a good choice nearer to our home. I told him that sounded better since if the trees did need to be taken out I would have to contact someone else anyway. He told me he would get back to me the next day or the day after. That was a couple of weeks ago now. Disappointed in the lack of customer service from Sunbelt, and in Angie's List for not knowing that Clermont is NOT in the area Sunbelt services, at least for a smaller job. This whole transaction was definitely an F.

Joe came out exactly when promised to provide an estimate. He took his time and walked through the entire yard with me making sure he understood exactly what I wanted done. This was a large job and he was priced very competitively. The day before service, Joe called and confirmed the details of the work and when to expect his crew the following day. On the day of service, they arrived a few minutes earlier than promised (which was GREAT for us). He brought a crew of 10 people and it took them approx 7 hours to complete all of the work. The crew was extremely polite and professional. They didn't hesitate to answer any questions I had regarding the work. When work was complete, they cleaned up to include blowing out the neighbors driveways where some sawdust and debris had blown. They made sure to pick up all their trash and left the yard looking good. The bill was exactly as quoted with no hidden surprises. The Angie's List discount was also a very nice addition. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend Sunbelt Tree Service to anyone looking for prompt, professional work that is done right.

They did an excellent job. They put boards down to protect the grass. Mr. Rodriquez and his crew worked very hard and did a fantastic job.

Wow, do these guys know what they're doing! A crew of 13 showed up to remove 8 trees from my lot. Five of the trees were in the back yard and difficult to get to. They brought a crane, and many people in the neighborhood stopped to watch them as they cut the trees into sections, lifted them up over my house, and set them down in the front yard to chop them up into pieces. It was highly organized and efficient and EVERY guy on the crew was on top of things. The amazing thing was I had a stand of 3 very tall pine trees that were completely intertwined with the branches of a beautiful live oak tree. It was like the pines had a spiderweb around them and I told Joe and the crew I wanted to keep all the branches of the oak but I had no clue how they would be able to extract those pine trees from the midst of that. Their reply was "a piece of cake", and it was exactly that for them. They sent a guy up with a chainsaw, he cut the pines, and they were pulled right through the tangle of branches like it was nothing. They didn't damage a single branch on the Oak tree. In addition, they really took care of my property. They laid down plywood over my lawn to ensure the grass didn't get torn up, and they cleaned everything up afterward. The guy grinding the tree stumps (Larry) was also great. Every person on the crew was polite and considerate, and I have already passed their name on to several neighbors who saw their work ethic and wanted to hire them. I will be hiring them again to take out some more trees in my front yard when I am ready to landscape it next year.

Played phone tag with company estimater a couple of times and he showed up unanounced one evening. I showed him the work that was requested which was to trim 3 large oak trees on my residential property and to elevate the canopy and just thin the trees out. I was quoted a price of $1,600.00 which was about 2 1/2 times the price of the lowest other bidding tree company and 2 times the price of the other company that placed a bid. I was provided no written estimate but when asked estimator indicated that if I really wanted one he would email me one. No paperwork was provided including insurance paperwork etc only a verbal estimate.
