Contacted McNish outdoor living for a quote on a deck, came right over and provided me with a very reasonable price. Agreed to have it done and that was exactly what he did, built me a quality deck for a reasonable price. Very professional, I would recommend them to anybody looking to have a deck built.

We are extremely satisfied with the results. Emiel was very professional from estimating to getting the engineering drawings and permits to getting the dumpster for demolition debris and delivery of high quality wood to the installation work. The foundation is much sturdier than before. The two new decks look beautiful and the repairs to the two smaller decks ensure that we can use these decks for years to come. It went perfect. The ramp is for my daughter. My wife was nervous and asked for a very stable ramp. I am an engineer so I designed it to the most stringent international building code. Concrete foundations, 6x6 posts on plates with 6x6 diagonal bracing at the high points, 2-2x12 beams, joists were 2x8 or bigger, decking was all 2x6. I requested deck tape for extra life on the structure Everyone who sees it jokes that it will out last the house. Emiel made the experience. He performed most the work by himself. And, as with everything, the devil is in the details. At times he struggled understanding exactly what I wanted, but he worked hard to make sure that the deck was built to my exacting standards. I am a very happy customer. Emiel is respectful of his clients and their home. Though stated by others already, Emiel has talent. His fit and finish is on point and he takes pride in the finished product. He is also the rare contractor that enjoys his work. And man are we talking work. He put this deck in...in August! I would recommend this man to anyone who wants good work performed with pride. He shows up when he says and gets the work done. He needs to charge more!!!

Emil McNish was professional and punctual. He was very responsive and helpful. The job was started and completed as promised without delay. He honored the coupon and stained the deck free of labor charge. I recommended him to my neighbor who also needed to replace his sun deck.

We knew we needed to replace a few boards on our deck due to weather damage at our back door. It seemed like a simple project, so my husband started pulling up the decking boards. Unfortunately, the beam and joist were also damaged and needed to be replaced. That led us to finding Mcnish Outdoor Living. His reviews were great and the pictures on his website were wonderful, so we gave him a call. He answered the phone immediately, came out the promptly to give us a quote, and began the work later in the week. We requested additional work be completed to replace more bad decking than just our original project. Emiel works with a local lumber company who sells better quality wood than Home Depot or Lowes, so he let them know the materials we needed and I just called the company direct to pay for the materials ($641). The wood is more expensive than other places, but you can tell the quality is worth it in the end. The materials were delivered and Emiel began work while we were on vacation. We felt confident that everything would be okay in our absence. We were right. When we got home on Sunday, Emiel was working even though is rained hard and the mosquitoes were out in force. His work was perfect and he even fixed a broken post on our carport on his own. So, Emiel goes above and beyond to give great service. We are looking forward to getting his quote back for refurbishing the rest of the deck. We highly recommend Mcnish Outdoor Living for your deck related projects.

There was excellent communication from Emiel throughout the permitting process and final town inspection. Emiel was very professional and cleared away all traces of the old dock. We were very satisfied and intend to work with Emiel to build a new dock in the near future.

I had Emiel come and rebuild my deck using composite materials. The crappy Home Depot PT boards were rotting and needed to be replaced. He did the job exceptionally well and I look forward to years of enjoying my low-maintenance deck! Work was done on time and very shortly after we agreed to a price.

Not only was he on time, and all work completed in a professional manner, he bailed me out of a bad situation. I had been promised by other companies and they didnt even show up, my granddaughter is getting married next week in my back yard and I needed a deck. Called and schedule a time for Emiel to come out and give an estimate. Was very prompt and came out the next day. We talked about what we were looking for, showed him our own drawing of the deck we had in mind. He took some measurements, asked some very pertinent questions and then in two days had the estimate. His estimate was a very good price compared to two other estimates we had done. We agreed on the scope and cost of the project and the milestones needed for payment. Emiel handled all the ordering of the materials, kept all the receipts for us, and always kept us up to date. Once the materials arrived he started the project promptly, always very nice, and was an extremely hard working. He discussed his progress everyday with us and kept us up to date on the timeline to completion. Emiel completed the project on time even though we asked for a pretty major change in the plans. We changed the steps from regular steps to extra wide steps. Emiel said that it was no problem and he did not charge any thing extra except for the framing materials that were needed. The materials we used was Trex Composite Enhanced along with Trex Railing system. We asked for a two board boarder in Beach Dune color with the inner portion a Grey color. Doing a two color deck requires a little extra skill as well as an eye to detail and Emiel was able to do this with ease. The deck turned out fantastic, we could not be any happier. Emiel is a very hard worker, excellent building skills, very detail oriented, and able to keep the project on time. We will definitely be using his services again in the future.

We are in the process of adding a pool and complete landscaping of our backyard that has a two foot elevation difference from one side of the house to the other. In order to accomplish our goals, we needed to have the existing support posts, footers, and support beam (the support beam was showing signs of rot from poor previous construction) across the entire length of the deck replaced to a height that would accommodate a level yard. We contacted several companies through Angie's List to come out and give us estimates for the job. Emiel from McNish Outdoor Living responded very promptly to our request. We set up a meeting and within a couple of days had an estimate. He presented himself professionally and displayed a great deal of knowledge and understanding of what we needed. He seemed to be the perfect man for our job, and we weren't disappointed. After signing the contract, we had a couple of delays due to weather. Emiel kept in contact with us throughout the entire process, and we were never left wondering what was going on with the project. His attention to detail is evidence that he takes a great deal of pride in his workmanship. We are very pleased with the job, from the initial phone conversation to the final cleanup. We will definitely be using him in the future, after our pool is done, to build a meditation deck in the corner of the yard. Most of the existing wooden deck had already been removed in order to have some other work done and the screen enclosure over it had been raised slightly and supported so that we could work beneath it. I contacted multiple companies from Angie's List and asked for estimates and suggestions/recommendations on the deck replacement work. Not all of the companies returned my calls. Emiel got back to me promptly and we set an appointment time. He came out and we discussed the project and how he would approach it and a day or two later he sent me an estimate, which was very reasonable. In the meantime, I had found a different decking pattern that I liked, and I asked Emiel if it would be feasible and if it would make a difference in price. He worked out the changes and got back to me with a revised quote, which was only slightly more than his original one. I was very impressed with Emiel's sincerity, knowledge and attention to details as we talked about the project and we agreed to move forward the following week. I gave Emiel a deposit to cover the materials and he had them delivered one day and came out the next to move them to the back yard and begin prepping. He and his associate removed the rest of the old decking materials, leveled the ground beneath the deck and in the adjacent yard, installed new posts in concrete and built a new framework, then cut the decking boards to create a "framed diagonal" pattern in the decking surface, plus a wooden step outside the enclosure into the yard. Finally they put two coats of stain on the deck and lowered the screen enclosure back into position. They began working on a Friday, worked Saturday (their decision), and were done on time as scheduled (Wednesday). They were very polite and neat, cleaned up after themselves and removed everything including the old materials. I would highly recommend them to anyone and will use them again on other projects.
