I highly recommend King Kutz. They responded quickly to my request and provided two detailed estimates to help me decide which option would be best. They were punctual and were great communicators throughout the entire process. The yard turned out great!

CARLOS CASTRO and his shady company KING KUTZ is reckless and cheats their customers from their paid contracted services. BEWARE!!! Although, KING KUTZ appears to be competitively priced, Castro will cheat you on the back end! I paid KING KUTZ to mow my lawn and trim my palm tree & bushes. They did not complete the job did not trim my backyard bushes nor my palm tree. What is worse is that in the process of mowing my lawn, owner Castro completely destroyed 4 sprinkler heads and sprinkler valve cover. After calling multiple times to plead Castro to return to fix what he destroyed and complete the contracted service, he ignored my initial calls, denied responsibility for destroying my sprinklers. Eventually, he promised to return to finish the job of trimming my tree & bushes. KING KUTZ never returned and continued to ignore my calls. BEWARE OF THIS SCAMMING LANDSCAPER!

Carlos is my weekly yard guy. I hired him to do a sod removal and resod project for my back yard, and someone else to remove a tree and complete stump grinding before Carlos was to do his project. The day before the tree removal was to happen, the tree contractor still had not confirmed his appointment. Carlos offered to do the tree removal himself and quickly found someone else to do the stump grinding. On top of that, my husband decided at the last minute he wanted another tree removed from our front yard and bushes removed from the perimeter of our back yard. Not only did Carlos complete the initial project on time, but also the additional requests within the same timeframe. He saved the day and kept me from a huge mess. I would suggest anyone hire him for their yard projects.

Excellent!!!! King Kutz promptly responded to my request for proposals on Angie’s List to replace sod which was in very bad shape. They gave me several options to consider knowing that my goal was to prepare the home for sale. I was able to speak with Carlos about my needs and customize and pick a-la-carte the work I would have done. They completed the work on schedule in two segments to my complete satisfaction. As soon as he realized that one of my requests (to have tall palm trees trimmed) could not be fulfilled due to equipment limitations, he notified me, reduced the price of proposal and found alternate options for me. All of the work is excellent and we are very satisfied!! We are using king kutz to maintain the lawn until we sell the home.

Quality services for a reasonable price! Carlos replaced the sud in the front of the residence. He provided three separate estimates that offered several options to accommodate my budget. He was professional and diligent in meeting my expectations and the final work product was excellent. He had to replace some sprinkler heads and even returned to fix a fractured pipe. He did it fast and for a reasonable price. Carlos also offered services in landscaping, which I’m currently considering. Overall, I had a great experience. It’s been over 5 weeks since the sud was replaced. It was recently fertilized and is looking great. A+ for Carlos.

The team came out and looked at my sprinkler system. Over 60% of it needed to be fixed and they also placed the main unit underground. I thought that was great as well. They explained everything to us and gave a very reasonable price for the amount of work needing to be done. The work was completed within a few days and ever since we havent had any issues and are very pleased with the way it's all working.

It went the most superior service I have experienced. I am 77 years and a disabled Vietnam veteran. I have had many handymen do jobs and many employees of my own software company and I was President of the U-Haul Company for Long.Island, New York.and constructed all the U-Haul Moving Centers there. The two persons who moved my mailbox so I could park close to my house, performed a great, professional timely and 100% satisfactory. I would be very happy to provide an excellent reference for them.

I have used Angie's List to find several contractors to do things around my house. King Kutz and its owner Carlos are the VERY WORST I have ever worked with. Do not be fooled by Carlos' initial friendly salesman pitch. The positive will end there. Since I bought my house, I have always done my own yard work. Unfortunately, I injured myself and therefore I reached out to King Kutz to take care of my lawn. Because the lawn had not been tended to in a month, it was visibly overgrown. I called in another person for a quote before Carlos came. Carlos no showed, no called for our first appointment. I forgave that because he apologized a few days later and explained his absence. When he came to the house, he was friendly and stated on several occasions that he really wanted my business. I let him walk the property to see the scale of the work. Even though he went to the pool deck, he did not walk the entire back yard. He quoted me a price and I told him I had a better offer. He then lowered his price (because again he said he really wanted my business) and we agreed he would come back later that week to do the initial clean up. Our first meeting was Monday. He said he would come back Wednesday to do the work. Again, he no showed, no called. He eventually showed up Thursday to do the work. He cut the grass, cut back some of the bushes he said he would and left before I got home for the day. The work he did was very messy and not to the standard that I maintain my lawn. There were deep divots in the grass from his riding mower. He burned the grass by cutting it too low in several areas. He was also very sloppy and splashed mud on my garage (which he didn't even bother to clean off). However, of major concern, he did not cut back all the trees he was supposed to. I text Carlos that day to ask why the trees were not all cut back. He said he spent more time of the job than he expected and did not have time to cut the trees back. He also remarked that he should have charged me more for the work but it was his fault for not fully walking the property and he would honor the original quote he gave me. Carlos said he would take care of the trees the next day (Friday). Again he no showed no called. I text him on Saturday to find out when he was coming back; he said Monday. Against my better judgment, I decided to let him try a second time. Carlos originally promised to come back Monday of the next week and cut the trees. He came on Tuesday. Again, no call no show on Monday. When he came, he cut back 2 of the trees he left from the first visit but did not address 2 other trees that were supposed to be addressed in the initial clean up. Again, I texted Carlos and he said he would address those trees when he came for the bi-weekly service. Today I came home during the service and notice the same problems as the first time (and I took pictures). Deep divots were left in the front from the riding mower. The grass was again burned from being cut too low. Again mud was splashed on the garage. I mentioned these issues to Carlos after the first visit (with the exception of the mud that I cleaned myself because I thought it was a one time mistake). He said those things wouldn't happen again. Well they did. But of greatest concern were the two trees that were left to be cut back. Carlos went and cut back one of them. I noticed that he didn't cut the second tree so I went to ask him about it. He said he would not cut that tree back unless I paid him more money. I told him I would not work with someone that did not honor the contract we had and told him I was cancelling the service with him. I gave him a check for this weeks' cut. After second thought, I decided to cancel the check for today's cut because Carlos never completed the job I originally paid him for. I called him to let him know I would cancel the check or he could destroy it. Carlos spent 10 minutes on the phone arguing with me about why he was not going to honor the original contact because he did not know how difficult the job would be. He tried to explain to me that the job presented unforeseen difficulties (EVEN THOUGH HE CHOSE NOT TO WALK THE PROPERTY WHEN HE DID THE ESTIMATE). I told him he could take the money for today out of the money I already paid him. In the middle of our back and forth, Carlos hung up on me. Carlos is a shady businessman and does EXTREMELY sloppy work. If you want to avoid a headache, avoid this business.

Update: Carlos contacted me after seeing my review and wanted to fix anything that he may have damaged. He did come out and put on 2 new downspout elbows and removed the black marks on my fence. Original review: I hired Carlos to take care of my bi-weekly lawn care, which would have become weekly in the summer/fall. He worked for me about 3 months. Initially I was really happy with him; he seemed to do a good job on my lawn and he seemed to be very professional. However, I would later find out that he damaged some things on my property (downspouts/fence) and that he wasn't going to be as reliable as I'd hoped. Carlos was coming to my house every 2 weeks during the dry season. However, one week he missed, and my grass was really high because of some rain (I have saint augustine grass, and it can grow pretty tall pretty quickly if conditions are right). He usually would come on Thurs/Fri, but he didn't so I texted him on Sat to see if he was coming since my yard was looking really bad. I didn't get a response until I called him Monday morning. During our conversation, he owned up to missing the service, but said he wouldn't come out until Thurs/Fri of that week. I requested he come out sooner since he had missed the week before, but he wouldn't. I told him I'd need to probably take care of it myself since my yard was looking so bad. I understand things happen, and I was going to keep hiring him, but then I asked if I should expect the same missed weeks in the future, and he said yes- he would likely miss weeks here and there in the future. To me, if I am paying for a weekly/bi-weekly service, I would expect someone to come every week or two weeks. If not, why am I paying for that service? It doesn't have to be the exact same day or anything, but definitely the same week would be appropriate. My grass has to be cut every week during the rainy season because otherwise it's a jungle. So, I decided I couldn't keep Carlos if he wasn't going to be consistently reliable. That wasn't that big of a deal- annoying to have to find someone else, but oh well. However, I still had left over black marks on my white vinyl fence from his mower tires- I told him about those, and he said he'd fix them (which I'm guessing he would have), but since he never came back, it didn't happen. The worst part is that when I went out to mow my lawn myself, I found several damaged downspout elbows. The downspouts were fine before I hired Carlos, and I really don't know how someone could have done what was done to them and not have noticed it at the time. But, he never told me about it, so either he was completely unaware (not a good thing either), or didn't care. Whether he really didn't notice what was going on or not, I'm glad I found out before other damage was done to my property.

We were very pleased by how quick Carlos came out to give us an estimate. Sometimes that alone can be an issue. He was very professional in both his demeanor and his work. He had a good balance between listening to us but also offering his expert advice, which was helpful. Our front yard was a mess of overgrown cabbage palms, hedges and tropical plants. The grass had taken over the ground covers and the whole thing was a bit of a jungle. They were able to clear it up in one day, which was pretty impressive. In the backyard they removed about 800 sq. ft of dead grass and replaced it. They also created a mulch bed along the length of the house and porch area. It looks beautiful. They were punctual, clean and polite, things we highly value in any professional we hire. We will retain their services for lawn maintenance and are happy to recommend them.
