Description of Work: Let me start by saying that we picked Cento Movers in part because of the reviews on Angie's List. Also, I liked the 2 people I dealt with. They were friendly and easy to get hold of. That being said, it went downhill from there. First, I was directed to their website to get an estimate. I filled in info. on the entire contents of our home. We aranged for packing of kitchen and diningroom and some garage items. We needed storage and that was free of charge for 60 days while renovations were being completed. We then needed contents to be delivered to the new address. We discussed all this and was given my TOTAL ESTIMATE. Prior to the move, we gave away many large pieces of furniture and workout equipment. We were told that the listing of furnishings was an idea for the truck size needed and the number of men. Packers came the 1st day and worked efficiently and were very pleasant. The owner was one of the men there that day. The 2nd day, they finished last minute packing and loaded the truck. This was NOT a good day. As the hours went by, it was our feeling that they had had enough and just wanted the job done! Things were put on the truck unpacked and they apparently did not pack the truck correctly, because one of the men had to come back with his own pick up truck to take the few remaining items to Cento's storage area. When we were making our payment, I asked if they needed half and the remaining half be paid on delivery of the furniture. The young man looked at me in confusion and said, "No. We need the full pmt. now!" When I asked WHY? would we pay up front for the conmplete job, we were told that the estimate was just for the 1st part of the move. We were SHOCKED! During the several conversations with the company while making the arrangements, NEVER was it mentioned that the estimate they gave was a partial estimate! This was not our 1st move, and certainly not the 1st estimate I've arranged for work being done, BUT, it was the 1st PARTIAL ESTIMATE I've ever gotten when asking for a job cost. They brushed it off as, "sorry for the misunderstanding" and said they'd take care of us on the delivery end. WAIT...THERE'S MORE!!! On the day of the delivery, 4 different men arrived. I had my manifest in hand, ready to mark off items as they came into the house. If we ever move again, I will pay someone to stand at the truck and check off numbers! Men were coming in with boxes and furniture (some loose pieces that just were thrown on the truck!) No numbers were checked, furniture was damaged and furniture was missing! We called immediately and were told that the table in question had been left in the storage unit and would be delivered in the morning. We received a call the next morning that the table had been damaged and they were taking it for repair. Chris Cento came to our home and checked the other damages and inspected a chest from the master bedroom which had been stuffed full of items that had been packed in boxes at the 1st part of the move. He was very disappointed and apologized for the workers. He Hi-boy from the master bedroom, which was broken, with sections of wood missing, was supposed to be fixed. Chris said that their furniture repair contact would come see it and take it to their shop. He also took pictures of the damage to that piece as well as an antique china cabinet. That was the end of all contact! A few weeks later, the missing table was delivered to us and assurences were again made that the repairs would be taken care of. It's been 8 months and NOTHING has been corrected. Our cost for the 2nd part of the move, was almost as much as the 1st part. I'm beyond phone calls and leaving messages. We've eaten the costs incurred by our poor decision to use CENTO MOVERS. My advice for furture customers, GO ELSEWHERE, but, if you choose to use this group, confirm that the estimate for the move is in fact the TOTAL ESTIMATE, find an extra person to strictly check items off the manifest and finally, direct the movers about not bringing your electric grill through the new house on the way to the back patio, but to walk around the outside of the house! NO...I'M NOT KIDDING! Oh, one last suggestion. If you pack boxes yourself, which we did, mark them in a general manner using rooms, NOT listing contents. We had over 200 DVD's all neatly packed and loaded on the truck, we received less then 50 when our items were delivered. We're still trying to locate items, but, we have nothing to go by since we didn't check off items from the manifest.
