I purchased a mini-split system from Cee Bee a couple of years ago and mold starting growing on the walls, inside my closets on the ceiling, bed posts....virtually everywhere. I called for them to check the system multiple times and was told "working fine" "You've got moisture intrusion from somewhere else" I have installed a metal roof, as well as high efficiently storm windows, had the outside of the house stripped, sealed and painted and this mold still continued. My house is only 900 square feet, i have to run 3 portable dehumidifiers and two air purifiers 24/7. NOT ONE DROP of water comes out of the drain from any of the 3 mini splits. Recently, I talked with Mitsubishi, brought in an engineer, and another AC company who told me basically the same thing. They installed a 3.5 ton unit and this house only needs a 2 ton unit, maybe less because of the shade. They never ran a heat load calculation or the person who did it was incompetent. The until is only a few years old and the entire system must be replaced. My electric bill has increased more than 40% since these were installed, my house constantly smells musty, I have to pay people to come by and drain the dehumidifiers when I travel. Why not install a whole house dehumidifier? It won't pull from all the rooms correctly and mold will still grow on the walls, additionally, it will still cause the air units to run well above capacity continuously causing my electricity to be well above what it should be....I should have actually gone down with the installation. I want CB to replace these units promptly or I will use other recourse to rectify this situation. Before I figured this out, they were at my home 1/2 a dozen times to tell me "not our fault, you got more going on here buddy" Eventually, they stopped returning my calls....someone needs to call me and resolve this.

AC stopped working so I review Angie's List for receommended providers. The first two (2) companies I called could not come to my home on the same day. I then call Cee Bee and they sent a technician out within two (2) hours of my call. The technician was professional and found and replaced defective capacitor within minutes. Very pleased with the response and results of this company.

Office was very cooperative in setting appointment at a time convenient to us. Service person Rob arrived on time and carefully checked every aspect of the system. He thoroughly cleaned the inside air handler drain as well as the outside compressor, and he quickly found the source of an annoying rattle (it was in one of the vents, not the system itself) and adjusted the vent so as to eliminate the noise. Rob then explained all that he had done. As usual, the service from CeeBee Air was excellent and much appreciated.

Service prior to fall out: All contractors were courteous and professional. Everything was installed in a timely manner. Even during the dispute they have been very professional. But after finally getting many months of direct energy-usage comparables to the previous year, the product they sold me is not nearly as efficient as I was lead to believe. This system which was billed as the most efficient heating cooling system (31 SEER) is only 11% more efficient (as measured by CEEBEE) than the 12 SEER system I had on the house to begin with. Trying to do a direct comparable between geothermal and in-air appears to be very difficult even though that is what was done in the initial sales discussions. When CEEBEE sells Air-to-air products they advertise significant savings when upgrading to more efficient products with higher SEER. In my previous house I had a 4 ton 21 SEER IQ system which saved me about $100/mo during the summer (original was a 10 SEER). CEEBEE sales person told me at the time of trying to decide between and IQ drive and geothermal that the IQ drive did not come in 5 ton...Westinghouse was advertising a 5 ton Westinghouse (FT4BG iQ Drive) at the time but a CEEBEE representative showed me an official listing and it is not on their but Westinghouse still advertises a 5 ton (Westinghouse did not response to inquiries). My biggest fault with the company is the contractors they use and I feel they totally oversold the product for the geological environment my house sits atop. I still need to ground truth this but conversations with another geothermal company with geology background indicate that the soil type (clay) may be preventing water flow across the loop causing poor efficiency. We also had a big issue with the company which transported the heavy equipment damaged the entrance of the community while entering and did not repair the damage. CEEBEE was not directly responsible for that but it just compounded the bad experience with geothermal. If I had to do it all over again, definitely would not go this route but now I am stuck with a very expensive product that is performing very poorly.
Description of Work: Installed 5 ton geothermal heat pump with dusuperheater which heats the hot water. Cost was about par with suggested $5000 per ton. They subcontracted with Florida Geothermal who installed the horizontal loop. Investigated three companies and Cee Bee definitely presented itself as the most confident and experienced.

Response from Cee Bee Air Systems, Inc
We installed a closed loop geothermal heat pump system for [member name removed] in December 2012. Both the equipment and ground loop are working within factory specifications and as designed. The ground loop installation required digging and trenching. The existing sprinkler system was evaluated before any work was started. Not all of the original sprinkler zones worked before the installation of the ground loop. After the loop was installed, a walk through was performed by Florida Geosource with [member name removed] and he agreed all of the sprinkler zones were functional. He did not contact us with any report of damaged items that needed repair. The issue of the damage to the unattended motorized entry gate for the community was also addressed previously. The gate in question is the only public access to the community that we are aware of. There is not another 'construction entrance" that semi truck sized vehicles are supposed to use to gain access. The problem that arose is as follows: Heavy equipment is required to install the ground loop system. Our ground loop sub-contractor, Florida Geosource, LLC, hired Universal Towing to transport the required heavy equipment to the jobsite. The unattended motorized gate is controlled by a keypad. The open/close time of the gate was too short of a time to allow the large truck transporting the heavy equipment to clear the gate area before the gate was closed by the control panel. There was no sign posted at the entrance warning that large trucks should not use the entrance or that the gate was not set up for safe access by large vehicles. There was no sensor to prevent the gate from closing if there was an object still in the gate's pathway. The control panel closed the gate on the transport trailer before it had cleared the gate opening. There was damage to the keypad cover at the gate entrance. We were told that instead of accepting repair to the keypad cover that had been damaged, the homeowner's association unreasonably requested that the entire gate installation be removed and replaced (including the posts on both sides of the gate, the concrete they were mounted in, the gate, the drive motor and the keypad controls. The towing company offered to repair the damage to the keypad that had been caused when the gate closed prematurely on their vehicle. The matter is being handled by the insurance companies for the homeowner's association and universal towing. The homeowner's association apparently accepts no responsibility for the gate's installation, configuration, or lack of warning signage that could have prevented the damage in the first place. The data of the power consumption that [member name removed] has provided shows that the base power consumption of his home without the a/c system has increased 11.53% in 2013 as compared to 2012. [member name removed] has reported higher efficiency light bulb and pump installations that he feels have reduced his base power consumption. These items may have contributed to a reduction, but his data shows there is something other than the a/c system that is using more power this year than last year. Further investigation is required to determine what the 11.53% wattage consumption increase is attributable to. The same data provided by [member name removed] shows that the a/c system is 11.24% higher in efficiency than the one that was removed. [member name removed] does not seem to understand that there is not a 1:1 ratio of the performance of an air-to-air heat pump and a closed-loop water-to-air heat pump as to the outside air temperature and ground loop temperature. The rate of heat transfer is higher for water than for air. Also, there must be a differential temperature between the different media involved for the heat to flow from the higher temperature media to the lower temperature media. Of the three types of closed loop systems we could have installed on this project, the horizontal type that was installed gives the best performance. [member name removed] request for a lower loop temperature seems to come from a misunderstanding of the engineering principals that the system is based on. For heat to be removed (or added) to the home, there must be a difference in temperature between the media involved. If we were to add pipe to the loop to reduce the design temperature even lower, there would be a corresponding increase in the wattage required to circulate the water in the loop that would result in an overall reduction in system efficiency. When the design engineering is done before the system is installed, design software is used to calculate the most efficient loop size which takes into consideration the type of loop, its geographic location, 20 year average local weather data, heat transfer rates for the loop, and the required energy to circulate the water in the loop. The result is the optimum loop with regards to installation cost, loop heat transfer, equipment performance, and circulation pump power consumption. Our company did not propose or quote to [member name removed] a different brand or type of system for his home, only a lower efficiency system of the same brand and design that he purchased. He did inquire as to an IQ heat pump, and we told him that at that time there was not one available with the capacity required by his home. His home required a 5 ton unit and the highest capacity IQ heat pump that was available was a nominal 4 ton heat pump that was rated at 44,000 BTUH cooling capacity (3.67 tons as 1 ton = 12,000 BTUH) From all information we have gathered or [member name removed] has provided, the performance of the system falls within the manufacturer's specifications and the computer modeled anticipated performance. Additional jobsite investigation is recommended to determine the reason for the base load (without a/c) increase in power consumption of 11.53% that this home is experiencing.

Replaced an old 10 seer central a/c with a new Rheem 15 seer condensor and variable speed air handler. They did a complete replacement of the lines also, new platform, and re-routed some ductwork. Stil not getting quite the air flow in those 2 bedrooms, but they will recheck it. I met with 5 different contractors. I couldn't make a decision and was becoming very frustrated. I saw CeeBee Air Systems under the Rheem logo in the phone book--they were listed as a contractor and dealer. I thought...that's an odd name, and normally I wouldn't call a company with an unusual name, but I did, and I'm happy I did. Doug Helms, the salesman was the nicest, most courteous, down to earth person. We immediately connected and there was no high pressure. He had owned an air conditioning business himself for 15 years. He told me the crew would arrive at 9:00am and they were right on time. They completed the install around 5:30pm and never took a break or ate--even when I offered to get lunch for them. CeeBee Air Systems have been doing business for over 30 years. They are a class act. A+ rating with the BBB. Pricing was fair. I have hardwood floors and I had already put down rugs wanting to protect them. When you have a total system change out there is going to be dust and dirt, but they were very good at containing it. I had no damage. Cleanup was excellent. Make CeeBee Air Systems your choice in a/c replacement or repair.
Description of Work: Replaced an old 10 seer central a/c with a new Rheem 15 seer condensor and variable speed air handler. They did a complete replacement of the lines also, new platform, and re-routed some ductwork. Two bedrooms were still not getting good air flow, so Doug Helms came back and made adjustments. Doug Helms is AWESOME! If the rest of the company has the honesty and integrigy that Doug has then CeeBee Air Sytems should be your choice in a/c replacement or repair.

MY MOTHER HAD BEEN IN A REHAB FACILITY AFTER HAVING BACK SURGERY. WHILE SHE WAS GONE HER A/C STOPPED COOLING, DUE TO HER NEGLETE IN CHANGING THE AIR FILTER. I CALLED CEE BEE. THE YOUNG MAN THEY SENT OUT WAS VERY PROFESSIONAL AND EXPLAINED EVERYTHING THROUGHLY. AFTER MY MOTHER CAME HOME, THERE WAS AN ADDITIONAL PROBLEM OVER THE WEEKEND. THEY SENT A REPAIRMAN OUT, HE WENT OUT IN THE RAIN AND THUNDER TO LOOK AT THE OUTSIDE UNIT, BUT HAD TO COME BACK THE NEXT DAY. AFTER I TOLD HIM WE HAD SPENT A SUBSTANTIAL AMOUNT OF MONEY AND THAT MY MOTHER WAS VERY SICK. THE COMPANY SHOWED THAT THEY CARE ABOUT PEOPLE AND NOT JUST THE BOTTOM LINE, HE CALLED HIS BOSS (THE OWNER) AND THEY DEFERRED OUR PAYMENT .EVEN THOUGH MY MOTHER WAS VERY SICK, SHE WAS VERY PLEASED WITH THE WORK THEY DID.

Actual installation went very well. Professionally done and quickly. New unit performed very well. However, Electric costs remained very high. No decrease whatsoever. After having several visits by Cee Bee technicians, they sent a specialist out to look at our duct work. They pronounced our ductwork inadequate for the 3-ton A/C unit we had installed (a unit which they sized and recommended to us). They suggested we have our duct work pulled out and replaced for another several thousand dollars. I suggested to the OWNER of the company that they should take some of the responsibility for not informing us of this in the beginning. I asked if Cee Bee would split the cost with us. They refused to answer my letters or phone calls. I cannot honestly recommend this company to anyone when they won't even accept some responsibility for this mess. I am sad about that, as they used to have a very good reputation.
Description of Work: Remove older A/C unit and Air Return in garage. Replace with new TRANE 13 Seer system with Heat Pump. Main Return in garage completely removed and replaced. Electric bills for 1800 square foot home had gotten very high, and old A/C ran all the time. We were led to believe that replacing a 15 year old, inefficient unit with a new high-efficiency unit would save money off of electric bills. Asked to have the duct work in the attic checked over before installation. They indicated that they would do so.
