Everything was well coordinated. All subs and providors arrived on time and performed their work flawlessly. Design and coordination recommendations were made that were very helpful in creating a positive overall experience and outcome.

Jim and Dominic had been wonderful to work with. They were very professional throughout the whole process. They always returned our phone calls and emails, always on time and kept all their promises. They took time with us to make sure we were happy with our selections. The work quality of their employees and contractors were very good. They paid attention to small details. Our kitchen was beautiful when it was done. We had a party and all of our friends complimented our new kitchen. We are very happy customers and definitly will contact them again for any future work and refer them to our friends. Their price was fair for the work they did.
Description of Work: We just had our kitchen remodeled by Kitchen Crafters. They installed brand new cabinets throughout the kitchen, installing old cabinets in the garage, new granite counter top, dry wall repair, installing lighting fixtures, and installing all new appliances.

I found this company on Angie's list. Kitchen Crafter's had all very good reviews so I called Jim and asked him to come out and give me an estimate to completely re do my kitchen. He was very prompt and we discussed what I wanted done. He gave me some very good ideas and took some measurements. I gave him my budget and he explained should work. My husband and I met Jim at his show room and we picked out the cupboards. Jim also showed us some new ideas with kitchen cabinets which we loved and added them to the purchase. The crew came and were very professional, on time and although a few problems were found, they were fixed and the kitchen was totally completed in 8 days. I am very happy with my new Kitchen and would recommend kitchen crafters for any renovations you might need. Thank you JIm

We were very pleased with our contractor Jim Knowles in the remodel of our kitchen. He was professional, courteous, and gave us options to save money. We have a small kitchen and he designed it well enough so we could have a small 18 in dishwaher, a huge single sink, and a lazy susan in the corner as well maximizing all of our valuable space. We can now give baths to our 7 month old son(big boy) in the sink. I'm glad he talked us into it. His team cleaned up well after themselves. We would recommend him to our friends and family. Sincerely, The Nelson Family

I called Jim to set up a time for him to come out and give us an estimate. He was prompt, arriving when he said he would. It didn't take him long to take measurements of the counters. He responded quickly in giving me a written estimate via email. His estimate was thorough, which included removal of the old counter tops, brackets for the bar top, a new under-mount sink and plumbing hookup. I asked if he minded if I did some of the work, like removing the old counter tops and plumbing work, to keep the cost down. He was fine with that and resent the estimate to me. We scheduled an appointment to pick out the granite colors and were pleased with the options available. The next step was for templates to be made of the old tops and Jim was right there with the template guy making sure it would come out correctly. Installation day came and the installers were prompt and very detail oriented to make sure it came out looking right. Our old cabinets were never leveled correctly when they were installed 19 years ago, so the installers had to work extra hard shimming the counter top just right so that the seams would come out correctly. They did a fantastic job considering what they had to deal with. Jim was also there for the installation, always checking the details to make sure nothing was overlooked. We our very pleased with the work and would recommend Kitchen Crafters to others.
Description of Work: We replaced our old counter tops with granite. The cabinets are still in good shape so that helped keep the cost down.

In one day the installers had the cabinets out with no mess for me to clean up. It took 2 or 3 days to install the new cabinets. The installers were always on time and kept everything neat and clean. They were very pleasant, professional and did a wonderful job. The granite people came in to measure for the countertops and they were also very professional and really good. About 5 days later, they came back and installed the countertops. Love the cabinets! Love the countertops! Then Jim's installers came back and did the trim work, installed the appliances, etc. They were always very professional and helpful and respectful. Jim came by to check, as needed, and always returned calls quickly if he didn't answer right away. He took care of everything. The plumber and electrician had come by along the way, too, and did their work. They were very good, too. But at the end of it all, we had a tiny leak under the bathroom sink and a tiny leak under the kitchen sink. Jim said the plumber and electrician would come by but they did not get back to him right away, so Jim came out and installed the covers for the electrical outlets and fixed the two tiny leaks himself, which I greatly appreciated. He did not make me wait on the others. We had a new kitchen put in about 11 years ago in our previous home and so I speak from experience. Jim and his installers are absolutely the best! My husband always had a running list of problems on the previous home's kitchen. Jim's installers were very detail oriented and every detail on the finishes is perfect! They took extra time tweaking the cabinet doors to lay perfectly, the trim work is perfect, every last thing is flawless. Jim made some extra shelves for me for several cabinets, too. Every request was handled quickly and the price for extra shelves was below what I expected. My husband is super fussy and sees every flaw in kitchen equipment and he gave his best compliments for the quality of the kitchen equipment and especially the installation of it. That says a lot! We both give Jim and his installers an A plus plus plus!
Description of Work: We had several quotes on replacing our old kitchen cabinets and one bathroom cabinet along with granite countertops from "A" rated companies on Angie's List. Jim with Kitchen Crafters had the best price and we liked his selection. Jim came out a couple of times to go over what we wanted and we went to his shop to make final selections. He took care of everything necessary to do a wonderful super job! We also went to the granite shop and picked out granite and sinks. Very nice people there, too. Jim came to help us there, also. Jim also had an electrician, plumber and painter in, along with his installers. They took out the old cabinets carefully so that our son could use them for one of his projects, put in the new cabinets, installed our new appliances and had the granite people install new countertops. Jim listened to what we wanted and helped us with his asked for opinions. What I appreciated a lot was his suggestion of st. st. appliances. We absolutely did not want st. st. appliances, but in the end we LOVED the st. st. appliances with our new kitchen cabinets and countertops! So glad we went with his suggestion there! Nice to have someone helpful, not pushy, give his professional opinion.

We called and Jim came out to give us an estimate within a couple of days. I went by his shop and picked out the cabinets and they were ordered. They arrived right on time...actually a few days early. The installers were very professional and courteous. Jim was always available to take a phone call with questions that we had along the way. He also had a plumber that was able to come out the same day the cabinets were installed to hook up all the plumbing. Again, a very professional individual. I went by the granite store he uses and picked out my granite. They came out and did a template the day after the cabinets were installed and had the countertops in within 7 days, so there was very little downtime. It was a pleasure to work with this company and I would use them again.

Jim was very responsive. He always answered emails and calls in a timely manner, even on the weekends. He helped us through the selection process which can be overwhelming. His price was competitive. The installers did a great job and came back promptly to re-work something. Jim was willing to refer us to other contractors for things outside the scope of his business. We would definitely recommend him. We may do further work and would certainly call Kitchen Crafters again.

Our bathroom is beautiful! Everything is of high quality, and we are very happy with the outcome. No one seemed interested in remodeling our second bathroom. Home Depot gave us a bid of $11,000, and it took them a month to give us the bid. Other people would come by, and never give us the bid. I found out about Kitchen Crafters from Angie's List. The Company had such great reviews, I decided to give it a try. The owner, Jim Knowles, came to our house within a week of my calling him. He got the bid to us promptly. We picked out the cabinets (style, wood type, color, and knobs) at his showroom. We bought the light fixture, faucets, shower head, and paint from Lowes and Home Depot. We went to the tile store Jim uses, and picked out granite for the counter top, sinks, and tile for the bathroom walls. Jim did all the rest. He scheduled the work to be done, and it was performed on schedule. They carefully removed the old cabinets, etc., and nothing in the house was damaged. When they were done, everthing was cleaned up. My husband and I work, and we gave Jim the key to our house. Every now and then, I would go home for some reason and meet the people working on our job. They all seemed to be nice men, and I didn't worry about them being in our house while we weren't there. After the sinks were installed, my husband and I didn't like them. They were too small. I figured we were just stuck with them, but told Jim about it. Jim said he wanted us to be happy. He uninstalled the sinks, removed the granite, had the granite re-worked to accomodate larger sinks, and re-installed everything. He didn't even charge us for all the additional work. He wanted to be sure we were 100% satisified. We are!
Description of Work: We remodeled our second bathroom. Kitchen Crafters put in new cabinets, granite counter top with 2 sinks, mirror, molding around mirror, glass bathtub enclosure, tile for bathtub walls, removed wallpaper, painted walls, and installed light fixture, faucets and shower head.

Our first estimates came in higher than we wanted to spend for such a small space. Jim worked with us to try and get the job within our budget. Work was begun on time and Jim stayed on schedule during the project. There were a couple of minor glitches during the project ( this is construction after all ), but Jim took care of everything for us. The work performed is excellent and the thing I like the most about Kitchen Crafters is that I can trust them to get the work done and live up to their promises. We are planning to remodel our other bathroom next year and I will be surprised if we do not use Kitchen Crafters again.

I found Kitchen Crafters on Angies List. I received three estimates for my remodel. I got the first two estimates very quickly expecting them to be less as they weren't the quality custom cabinets Jim was offering. To my surprise, Kitchen Crafters came in less. But even if it had been somewhat more in price, I would have chosen them. I am thrilled with the quality craftsmanship I am seeing in Smithport. Jim and his crew of professionals arrived on time to begin work and stayed on schedule for the entire job completing it ahead of schedule. Jim is true to his word about no delays even when the plumber he likes to use got stuck out at sea on a broken boat. He came up with a different one. He schedules well. Cabinet removal was first. The wiring in the soffit had to be rerouted and the sheetrock repaired. Jim put ceiling to floor plastic sheeting to minimize the dust that comes with drywall work. It was very helpful in cleanup. A wall was shortened, and behind the refrigerator had to be lengthened. The tile had to be repaired on the floor. You can not tell that any of it was repaired. Cabinet installation was fast and with no incidents. Stone Crazy did the Silestone counter tops. The templet maker did not listen to Jim, and measured for the counter tops his own way which caused a problem when they came in. Jim took it in stride and fixed what could have been a big disappointment for me. I'm very happy with it now. I probably wouldn't hire Stone Crazy again. The tile backsplash was installed, appliances, sink and faucet were installed. There was some confusion as to which side to put the disposal. Apparently, I am backwards to most people and wanted the disposal on the left side of the sink. The plumber and Jim had it installed on the right when I discovered it. They were both very gracious and moved it to the other side without the first complaint. The remodel came in exactly as estimated. No surprises for the budget. I am extremely happy with my remodel from Kitchen Crafters and would highly recommend them for any remodeling needs. I have recommended using them to three other family members and will use them again without hesitation when the need arises. Hire Kitchen Crafters! They are one of the good ones!
Description of Work: Kitchen Crafters completely remodeled my kitchen. Jim developed plans, provided a detailed estimate and proposal, and when accepted, began work on March 12. Kitchen wiring had to be rerouted, a wall had to be moved, my tile floor had to be repaired after moving the wall, another wall had to be enlarged, new Smithport cabinets were installed to the ceiling, under and inner cabinet lighting was installed, new Silestone countertops were installed, a tile backsplash was installed, an over the range microwave, disposal, faucet, sink and dishwasher was installed.

These guys are fantastic! We have had other wood related projects that Jim and his installer have done for us. We wouldn't go anywhere else. Our garage wall was not level and the installer carefully cut each piece of slat wall to ensure everything was installed evenly. As always, they did a great job with the installation and clean up. They were very professional, friendly, and great to work with.

We recently moved to FL from out of state and decided to remodel the outdated kitchen immediately - new cabinets, stainless steel appliances, and granite counter tops. We decided to keep the original tile floors because of the expense involved in replacing them. This meant that the new cabinets and the center island had to be fitted in the same space on the floor, however we did rearrange a couple things with Jim's advice and input. We selected Kitchen Crafters based upon many positive ratings on Angie's List. Jim was very responsive from our first contact, during, and even after the end of the job. He was willing to do whatever was required to make the process smooth and hassle-free. There were some problems which are inevitable in a major remodel, but Jim was very prompt and professional in handling them. Jim made great suggestions on the cabinet design to make the kitchen more functional while keeping the original layout. The end result is beautiful, practical, and a joy to cook in. Although we did not quote other providers, we feel that Jim's pricing was very reasonable. Jim shopped around the local granite suppliers on our behalf and got us a good price on our granite. Based upon our positive experience with the kitchen, we engaged Jim to remodel our laundry room and pantry. The laundry room had shoddy cabinets and a worn formica counter, but we worked with Jim to get beautiful new cabinets and a granite counter top. For a more "upscale" look in the laundry room we installed a Thermocast sink (they come in a wide range of colors) and a Belle Foret faucet with a high neck and pull out sprayer - much nicer than the standard slop sink. The new laundry room is also beautiful and functional! We would strongly recommend Jim.

Fabulous from start to finish! We made an appointment with Mr. Knowles to measure our master bedroom closet. He was prompt and courteous and was very knowledgeable about closet systems. He supplied us with a closet drawing and a cost estimate within a day or two after the appointment. We obtained drawings and cost estimates from two other closet companies, but we liked Mr. Knowles drawing much better than the others. His drawing utilized our limited closet space very efficiently and effectively and provided excellent storage solutions for our needs. In addition, his pricing was significantly better than the others. He provided a better quality product, solution, and design for significantly less than the other closet companies. On the day of installation, Mr. Knowles and his installer arrived on time, installed the closet, and did a beautiful job in the process. It looks fantastic! It's even better than we envisioned it would be.

Mr Knowles was contacted via email by us after finding him and his glowing reviews on Angie's list. He is an obviously intelligent and capable contractor. An appointment was set for him to come to our home and discuss the kitchen remodel we were looking to have done. He met with the husband and all aspects of the finished result were discussed from raising the ceiling and existing cabinet removal to wall relocation, electric outlet placement and the gas line that requires installation for the stove that has already been purchased. It was made clear that we are no slouch at DIY and aspects of the build that we wanted or were willing to do to reduce the costs were also stated. Mr Knowles spoke about exactly how the build would go and an approximate time frame?all details to be better outlined when the proposal was delivered. Maybe we were scared off by the price of the proposal; maybe we should have continued an exchange of information with Mr Knowles, but we did not respond to his emailed proposal simply because it did not appear to reflect all of the specific details we felt were of importance for him to remember when writing it up. Cabinet removal was noted to be done by his workers even after he was instructed that WE would remove them. The removal was listed as ?demolition and disposal? when it was clearly stated they were to be relocated for use in the garage. The estimate included information on floor tile, its cost, cost of supplies for and the installation of same, even though it was made known that we would lay our own floor. We honestly feel that points are endless in what we think he did not listen to. In short, what we were looking for was a contractor to handle the large scale construction of wall relocation, ceiling repositioning and electrical wiring; those components that we are not comfortable enough in our own abilities to do. We can certainly appreciate Mr Knowles? professionalism and attention to detail in the information he furnished us with about the job, but the absence of the details we furnished him was ultimately what kept us from moving ahead with him and his firm.
Description of Work: No actual work was performed. The husband met with Mr Knowles and discussed what work we were looking to have done and an estimate and computer mock up was received via email.

Response from Kitchen Crafters Inc
First, I would like to say that I'm sorry we were unable to meet the customer's expectations as we hate to lose any job. I will say, this is the first time I can ever recall being accused of providing too much information. When we prepare and present our package to a potential client, it generally includes detailed drawings of the project along with a couple of other documents. The first document will be a detailed proposal or contract itemizing and pricing all of the work that will be performed directly by Kitchen Crafters and my workers. The second is a construction estimate of allowances for additional materials or labor needed to complete the project which will need to be provided or performed by someone else such as, the homeowner, their own subcontractors or subcontractors that we work with regularly. Examples of these additional items would be lighting and plumbing fixtures, expert drywall finishing, electrical work requiring a licensed electrician, etc. Most people want to know as close as possible how much the total project is going to cost and we make every effort to provide that information whether we do all the work or not. We have no problem with any homeowner doing any part of or using their own subs for any aspect of the job. In any case, we will coordinate and schedule the entire job. It is always made clear that the construction estimates or allowances are cost estimates that we provide based on our experience and will be very close. For a firm contract price, the sub in question would need to meet directly with the client, go over the job requirements and provide a written proposal. The client is free to contract directly with the sub or through Kitchen Crafters as they may prefer. To clarify a couple of points made in this report, the cabinet removal was included along with the other demolition and removal work needed for the job and actually amounted to less than 1% of the job total. As for the floor tile, I was informed by the customer during our meeting that they knew and had selected the floor tile that they wanted but was never told that they were going to install it themselves. I did ask if he wanted me to quote the installation price from my tile company and that information was given in the construction estimate. We are not perfect although we strive to be and it is certainly possible that I failed to ascertain all the customer’s desires and details of this job from a single half hour meeting. With a job of any size it generally takes at least a couple of meetings and exchange of information to get everything exactly the way the prospective customer wants it in regards to design and price. In closing, I do feel that some of the comments in this report were unwarranted, particularly in light of the fact that the customer did not respond to any of my emails or phone messages after the package was presented. We spent many hours preparing her quote and doing detailed design drawings and renderings which were given to them at no charge and a simple “thank you but we are going in a different direction” would have been appreciated. Sincerely, Jim Knowles Kitchen Crafters, Inc

The whole experience was excellent. We had one small glitch do to a scheduling mishap, but other than that the whole process was great. I really wanted my countertops done prior to Christmas and Jim was able to make that happened for me. Our old kitchen was built at the same time when our house was built, in 1989. It looked like it will fall soon apart. Therefore we wanted to either reface the kitchen cabinets or install a completely new kitchen. Since we have a tight budget, we thought that refacing is cheaper. Keeping that in mind, we went to Home Depot to ask for a quote. A Home Depot specialist came to our home, took a few measurements, showed us very few samples (very little choice), and presented us immediately the cost of our refacing project: over $14,000. We were shocked. We asked him for the reason of such a high price. He replied that Home Depot and Lowe's are the Ferraris of the kitchens available in US. While we have nothing against Home Depot or Lowe's, we thought that this statement was highly exaggerated. Consequently, we kept looking around. Then we found Angie's List, read through many reviews and picked Kitchen Crafters, Inc. to give us a quote. Jim Knowles, the owner of Kitchen Crafters, passed by our house, asked us very friendly what we had in mind. Given the condition of our very old kitchen, he recommended that we replace our kitchen. We explained to him what we like, he took notes and measurements. After two days he sent to us a detailed offer via e-mail. The cost proposal was very well structured. And the best was the price of around $5200. We scheduled an appointment with Jim, who showed us around in his showroom. Thinking about our budget, we realized that we could afford several upgrades. We liked especially the European style kitchen model. We also added granite kitchen countertops. Including the upgrades, the cost was around $8000. Jim ordered the cabinets, which arrived a few weeks later. His team installed all the cabinets, sink, dishwasher, disposal, and microwave, and another team installed the granite countertops. The precision of both jobs is incredible. The cabinets look fabulous, and the granite makes the kitchen look beautiful. After everything was done, we just kept staring at our new kitchen for a long time. The quality of this job is just so good. We are very, very, very satisfied.
Description of Work: Replacement of very old kitchen. Computer drawing of new kitchen. Remove and dispose of existing cabinets and countertops. Installation of new kitchen cabinets (European style, Smithport cabinet upgrade). Installation of granite countertops. Plumbing of new sink. Installation of dishwasher, disposal and microwave.

I couldn't be happier. Jim did a beautiful job with our kitchen and laundry room. He was very professional and easy to work with. We started out getting estimates from four companies. We chose Jim for a variety of reasons: We loved his selection of cabinets, he had better design ideas and creativity, his prices were less than competitors, he was extremely knowledgeable, and his cabinets were much better quality than the others. Jim was always on track or ahead of schedule. He was always here to oversee the work being performed, always timely with responses to any questions we had, and handled our remodel as if it was his own.

This was a completely professional experience. I needed new cabinet doors in the kitchen. Jim Knowles measured, ordered, and installed perfectly. I would also add that he perfectly--I mean perfectly--matched the color of the existing cabinet frames, which did not need replacing. The hinges were included in the price; I bought the pulls and knobs separately. Hire this pro.

This was our first kitchen upgrade and the challenge was making a very small kitchen more functional and somehow gain a few inches more in width without removing a wall. And Mr. Knowles did it! The end results are stunning! Friends and family are amazed at how beautiful our kitchen is now. My sister told me it looks like a kitchen you would see in a kitchen remodel magazine! Mr. Knowles was very professional and easy to work with and gave practical advice on how to make this upgrade the success that it is. We are looking forward to working with Mr. Knowles again in the near future on other upgrades to our home.
