Description of Work: Did a complete remodel of kitchen. Removed a wall to open up the livingroom and kitchen. Installed all new custom cabinets and 9 foot long island. Plumbing had to be moved and electrical lines had to be routed under the floor for power to the island. Jim was accessible and available every step of the way. His crews for all the work are very experienced and pay attention to the last detail. Once work started there was a very precise time line that really minimized how long we were without a kitchen. We would highly recommend Kitchen Crafters to friends and neighbors. My Wife absolutely Loves her new kitchen.

Description of Work: Jim Knowles did a complete revamp of our 26 yr old kitche. He was tremendously help in the design and made several suggestions that were beyond spot-on. Kitchen Crafters performed the work right on schedule, a couple of delays were communicated in advance and were also on schedule. The work was top-rate and all of the sub-contractors and suggested subs did exceptional work. We could not be more pleased with the quality of materials, the profession work done, attention to details and the overall friendliness of the crews. I would highly recommend Jim Knowles and Kitchen Crafters for any remodelling work. |P.S. The WOW factor of our finished kitchen is huge!

Description of Work: I have hesitated for a long time in posting my rating because my feelings are mixed. A whole lot of our experience and the resulting kitchen was excellent but there was also bad, bad, bad. |Ours is not a large kitchen. We were raising the ceiling and resurfacing all connecting ceilings, replacing all cabinets, installing granite and tile backsplash, and some connecting work. |The extraordinary news is: Jim scheduled the work and only deviated from the schedule by asking us to allow the crew to work through the weekend. He finished a day early, if you can believe that! |The other good news is: Jim and his designer made a couple of good suggestions as we made our plans. For the most part he brought excellent craftspeople in to do the work. |On the not so great news side: you need to write everything down. I suggest e-mail as the best way to do that as Jim forgets or at least argues that you never said things you know you said. If you don't like arguing, just put everything in writing and that issue goes away! |On the really bad side: the granite finishers did a butcher job on the seaming of my counter. The seam is in the middle of the sink and is rough and at one point, right in front, is more than ¼ inch wide. I complained to Jim and they sent someone out to recolor the fill material. That person was an artist and really camouflaged the terrible seam to the point I thought I might forget it was there. But as time wears, on the coloring is coming back to that originally slapped on and the fact remains the seam is jagged and broad. Jim called to ask if it was better right after it was recolored and I told him it was better, but it didn't stay that way. |On the still developing bad side: there is a crack showing up running from the edge of the new kitchen ceiling out into my family room ceiling. | |I love everything about my new kitchen except for that one glaring issue that hits me in the face every time I do dishes. I know of no way it can be corrected except to start over completely and I knew Jim wouldn't do that and I certainly can't afford to do that either. So you can see why I have mixed feelings. | |So in some respects this is a good choice of contractors if you make certain provisions: if you are getting granite, insist on knowing who did my granite and then insist he not use them for your work. Description of Work: I'm beyond pleased with my new kitchen! I found Kitchen Crafters on Angie's List after going to Lowe's, Ikea, etc. I realized I needed someone to guide me through the process of a complete remodel, which seemed overwhelming. Jim did just that. He was professional every step of the way, from the choices of cabinets, granite and flooring to installation. This was my first remodeling experience and I was a bit anxious. When the cabinets were installed, I had a mild freak out that they weren't the color I had picked out and wouldn't match the granite that had already been cut. Jim drove 45 minutes to assure me that it was definitely the stain I ordered and it was going to look beautiful. Silly me. It was exactly the color of the 4" sample I had decided on. (You could practically hear my husband's eyes roll.) Jim was right. The result is stunning. I'm having my first guests for dinner tonight to show it off. I'm having Jim do the bathroom next.

Description of Work: He returned my call to schedule an appointment, but our schedules conflicted. He was to call back another time to re-schedule and never did.

Description of Work: My kitchen cabinets were a mess - doors had fallen off; many were not aligned properly and would not close and kept opening. I called Kitchen Crafters and Jim Knowles came out and gave me an estimate for replacing all the hinges on all cabinets. I felt the estimate to be very reasonable and hired the Company. Because this was too small a job for Kitchen Crafters, Jim sent out one of his subcontractors who does smaller jobs for the Company. James Garrett came out and replaced all of the hinges on all of the cabinets and did an excellent job. Now I have cabinet doors that are properly aligned and open and close with ease. I am so grateful to Jim Knowles who did not merely blow me off because of such a small job, but instead solved my dilemma.

Description of Work: We chose Jim Knowles and Kitchen Crafters because of Angie's list and we received a 10% discount. The price was then considerably less than competitors. They gutted our old kitchen and replaced all the cabinets, an island, all appliances, new counter tops etc. This included premium hardware and a custom color of wood on the island. These were not the high end cabinets but moderate, semi-custom. There is a special spice drawer, swing out storage and a special trash/recycling drawer. We paid subcontractors separately but the total above included the granite and electricity. We ran into an additional $600 worth of plumbing problems due to discovered leaks. The cabinets and drawers are stained wood. They delivered and installed cabinets, hauled away old cabinets and trash and put appliances in place. An electrician wired them up and a plumber installed the sinks. Kitchen Crafters installed a downdraft vent without charge (custom made). We were without a kitchen for about 10 days but it would have been more like a week if the faucet we ordered online had come with all its parts.

Description of Work: I cannot say enough good things about Kim Knowles and his company - Kitchen Crafters, Inc.! We did a complete remodel of our kitchen, dining room and living room and Jim handled ALL aspects of the project. He handled all the subcontracting of all the differet services required from drywall, plumbing, flooring replacement, electrical etc. We asked for him to have two bids for each type of service needed and he handled this AND was there when the people came to quote the job. He was also there physically to check on the job daily as the workers were performing their duties. Whenever I would call with a question he was there with answers. Not only did the project get completed AHEAD OF SCHEDULE but Jim's calm soothing demeanor made both myself and my husband at ease through the whole project. I realized early on that when Kim said "not to worry" that I did not need to!
