Altamonte CARPET TILE AND KITCHENS

There were three people in the team, arrived on time, and introduced themselves. Very appreciative of the work, they cleaned up as they went from one area to another. They were very careful and moved the heavy items for me. I could not ask for a better team. I would happily use them again.

We needed our master bath shower re-tiled and sought out quotes from various companies. Tile & Carpet of Altamonte came very highly recommended on Angie's List and their price was very good. Robert came out, scoped out the job, made some excellent recommendations and gave us a quote. His expertise was instrumental in our decision to go with Tile & Carpet of Altamonte. The installation crew, headed by Jorge, arrived when scheduled, reviewed the job site and realized they needed more material than what they had brought. They left after Jorge explained exactly what he needed and returned the next day with everything required. The job took 3 1/2 days which was what I was told. Each day the job site was cleaned before the crew left. As the job progressed, Jorge discovered that I had a leaking pipe for the shower head which he replaced. Again,excellent work. The job included building up 2 walls of the shower 3 feet to replace glass that had originally been there. The wall that was built is excellent and the team brought in a drywall guy to finish the drywall correctly. The actual tile job is outstanding and it shows what a true artist Jorge is. Nothing was left to chance and Jorge explained what was happenning as the job progressed. The 3 man team was very polite and tried to be as unobtrusive as they could. I will happily utilize Jorge's experience in any future job I will have. The only issue I had, and it was a small one, was communication from Robert and the main office. 2 pieces of bullnose tile did not match, impossible to tell until the tile has dried and been cleaned. Robert agreed it needed to be replaced and ordered the tile. Notification of that order and the issues associated with it were not made known to me, so I wondered what had happened. Robert apologized for the miscommunication and explained what had happened. The 2 pieces of bullnose tile were replaced as soon as the ordered tile came in and the final product is outstanding.

They called to schedule an appointment to measure up the room for flooring. Robert explained that the $400 was credited against only flooring and labor, underlay, delivery, furniture moving, taking up old carpet, thresholds and quarter rounds were additional. I gave them the dimensions of the room and was told the total was $1,286 from which the $400 would be deducted leaving a balance of $886 (plus 7% sales tax and the $99 I already spent for the coupon). I told them I was not prepared to spend that kind of money for the flooring in my child's bedroom. No thanks. I have priced the job from Home Depot and it is about half of the price. They were polite but I think more details should have been provided in the initial offer.

They did a good job. The only thing that I was concerned about was when they were at our home doing the work we needed a border strip of laminate put down next to a sliding glass door. They wrote this in to the notes when coming out initially and they left without doing the work. He called to follow up on our experience. I did call back and let him know I was happy but that additional work had not been done. I have not heard from them since that time. They did do a beautiful job with the work and we are very pleased with it.

I haven't had the best of luck with flooring providers here on Angie's list. Recently when someone asked me why I thought the reason was, I told them that I thought it was due to a lack of communication between sales and service. Which is what I believe was the problem here as well. Let me preface all this by saying that the work is good and I love the new floors. When Robert showed up to do the measurements and show me samples, he was super cool and friendly. He showed me some samples and I asked him if they were an accurate representation of the product I would receive and he assured me that it was. He also said that the guys who would be installing the floors would pull up all of the original laminate before installing the new one and that they "were like machines" and they would be done with everything in one day. So, I requested the day off and waited for the installers to show up. When they showed they looked at the existing flooring and said they would not be removing it, but instead installing the new floors on top of the existing ones. But since they didn't have the plywood to level out some of the uneven spots in the floor that they would come back the next day to start work. So they were there for five minutes and then left for the day, prompting me to use another personal day off from work. The next morning, only one installer showed instead of the two from the day before and when he showed me the actual flooring he was going to be putting in, it was indeed the same look and style, but it was way thinner than what Robert had shown me during the measurement. And again, although he worked the whole day, the installer did not finish on that second day either, prompting me to burn another day off from work. Actually it was only a half day I had to use, but still. So there you have it. Although the work was done and it looks fine, there definitely was a miscommunication between Robert and his installers. I also feel like I was misinformed on several aspects of the job and product.

They credited me for the Big Deal right away when coming to my home. I was happy with the person that did the work and I was happy with the work. I would recommend the company. The salesman is the owner of the company and he did a great job. The installer was very polite and competent. Be sure and watch expiration dates on the Big Deals if purchasing them. They did charge me twice for an $800.00 deposit by mistake and after a couple of phone calls the money was refunded.

The service was excellent. I was very satisfied. I like all of the people that he had to do the work. I like the product a lot as well. They were very helpful in helping me pick the right product. They were very patient to work with. Robert the owner seems very proud of his service and he is very conscientious and hands on with the work. The insurance company paid for the work and he did adjust the price to keep me from paying very much out of pocket. He is very trustworthy and I would recommend him to others.

Nightmare!!! They replaced the wood flooring in the main areas of the house and fixed the laminate in one room. We were eager to start packing for our move and the contracted workers delayed our preparing to move, because they took almost 3 weeks to get work done that was supposed to be completed in 5 days. The contractor is a very good salesman, but he needs to be more in touch/control of the workers he contracts to do the work.

Robert and Lynn were great to work with. They are very responsive and flexible. I closed on my place on Thursday and was able to set them up to come in that following Monday to do the install with only a few days notice, which I greatly appreciated. Between the tile removal, install of laminate, labor and product fees, I saved about $1000 over using Home Depot for the same thing. Robert's pricing is very fair and he goes out of his way to do the right thing for his customers. The crew that was contracted to do the work was incredible. They were very professional, knowledgeable, and the final product was AMAZING. The tile removal took longer than expected due to how well the tile was laid, so a one-day job turned into a two-day job, and they did not charge me any more for labor. I thought that was so fair and shows the kind of people they are. I would recommend this company to anyone as they are a great family business that does right by their clients and makes their client's satisfaction their number one priority.

This job was begun in October and was supposed to take about three days. It is not finished yet. I had to insist that some work be redone because it was very shoddy, mostly held together by gobs of calk. The fix is acceptable, but there calking, touchup painting, and cleanup is yet to be done. My panel track blind and the glass bowl of my light fixture were both broken by the work crew. There have been numerous promises to fix the blind and many no-shows for finishing the work. In the meantime, my entire house is difficult to navigate because the dining room furniture was moved out of that room. I will finish the work myself. For about a month I couldn't do any of the other remodeling I had planned to do myself because the work crew took off with my tools, which I did finally get back. I am in the process of ordering a new blind. I am ordering as close to what I had as possible, and the cost will be $400 to $500 dollars. The new light fixture will be in the $100 to $200 range. What a shame -- that light fixture was just installed a year ago. My phone calls and emails go unanswered unless I threaten legal action. Be aware that this business uses subcontractors, and the owner would rather blame the subcontractor than take responsibility. The room will look very nice when it is finished. Unfortunately, it will be too late for the Christmas party I had planned. Very disappointing. In response to vendor comments: You must have me confused with someone else. Some work was added, such as installation of the crown molding, but if you check the contract, you will see that it was added as a line item and was paid for. If the blinds and the light fixture were previously broken, we would not be having this conversation. As far as the paint patches,if you're talking about the ceiling and the removal of the metal plate, i'm perfectly happy with that -- never had an issue. Fortunately, instead of waiting for the blind part that was supposedly ordered by your subcontractor, I was able to contact the manufacturer, and they are sending replacement parts free of charge. I will be happy to continue to use my nine-year old blinds, which I love. I don't recall any appointment, and you never came to inspect the work.

I contacted Tile & Carpet of Altamonte Springs through the Angie's List website. I was contacted by Robert after several calls between us. We decided that he would come by to look at the small full bath that we wanted done first and then also give a price on remodeling our master bathroom. When we set the appointment Robert specifically stated on the phone that he was adding it to his calendar. I also received an e-mail from Robert stating the following: Tile & Carpet Of Altamonte Springs12/4/2013 dear chris we are set for next sat see you then The appointment was going to be on Saturday December 14th at 10AM. That time came and went. I left a couple of messages on his phone and e-mailed him to see if he was going to show up. I did not get a response until later that said he had the flu and would contact me on Monday when he felt better. First of all I was confused why someone else could not have let me know if he was sick and said they would reschedule. Rather I had to reach out to them to find out what was happening. It has now been a week and a half and I have still not heard from Robert. I had read another review on Angie's List that this had occurred previously. Based on this response I am assuming he does not need or want the business and will search another provider to provide these services.

Things went fine until after job was finished and paid for. We have sent many emails about shower not being caulked everywhere. Robert said he would come by and check out our concerns. Have not seen him yet. We would not recommend this company do to follow up.

Robert and Lynn are super friendly and responsive. I would definitely recommend their company and will use them again. I needed my guest room put back together before Christmas and they got it done as promised. Looks great and they completed the entire job within just a few hours. Very professional and cleaned up well when done. Even worked around a sofa bed that was too big/heavy to get out of the room. Only negative was that they arrived about 2 hours later than they said they would, but explained they got stuck on an emergency job. I work from home, so not a big deal for me.

I purchased the Big Deal of "$400 of installation for $99" on November 28. I called the business and spoke with Robert Mellow, the owner. Through emails and phone calls Robert informed me the he could not get the flooring I needed. He offered to install the product if I bought it from Lowes! But he wouldn't give me $400 of installation for $99 unless I bought the product from him. We both agreed that a refund was in order.

They did a wonderful job and we love it!

Everything went well. Provider was very nice and understanding. I just had a medical issue come up, so budget took a hit and cannot complete my project at this time.

Did the tear out of cabinets and replaced the counter tops. I would recomend the granite guy and the cabinet installer to anyone. They were professional the work was great and there were no problems. I can not say the same about Mac the head of the projects. He was more concerned about other job flipping homes. He came and went as he pleased. He left a mess and I think the workers he hired had less of a clue how to do the work than I did. They ended up tearing wallpaper and did a terrible job of trying to patch the paper. Also, we took out an intercom system and was suppose to sheetrock and replaster the wall. What an awful job. Again I think the person doing the repair had never done this type of work before. Because of the problems I had to immediately hire some one to put in a backsplash. They said they could do it. Not a chance! The new guy repaired their work and installed the backsplash. He did get a good chuckle out of their work. As I said earlier the granite guy and the cabinet intalllers were great and I would not hesitate to use them in the future. I would not hire Mac to take out the trash and found him to be less than interested in what he was doing. Also, I liked the owner and would use him again if Mac was not involved.

Robert measured the project, thoroughly explained each step, and gave an approximate start date. His crew came the date he said they would, they were professional and did an outstanding job. They tore out a stand alone shower completely and rebuilded it. The job is beautiful.

Excellent work, especially by Oscar and Juan. Quality materials and well-planned project on the whole. A plumbing issue arose from miscommunication. I didn't get the plumbing work done in the wall that would allow me to use the fixtures I wanted. Otherwise, all was excellent.

Outstanding. Robert was right on on time for the estimate and very knowledgeable about the laminate flooring I needed installed. Straightforward and honest about what needed to be done. Very comfortable with his assessment and recommendation, went ahead and scheduled a time next week to have the floors completed (materials on site already). Robert has a lot of A Ratings on AL and I can see why - many years of experience. Update: Oscar and the installation team arrived right on time for the scheduled installation. Went right to work and professionally installed 400 ft2 of laminate flooring (already on site). Attention to detail included trimming the vertical door moldings to ensure flooring would slide underneath as well as going the extra mile to install the transition moldings between the kitchen tile and the living room flooring. Cleaned everything up when they were done. Upon completion the amount due matched the estimate, straightforward transaction. This project has been on my list of to-do's for 2 years and I am extremely pleased with the quality of work as well as the price. Thanks again for the great work, the living room and hallway look fantastic.

The owner, Robert Mello, measured our floor and got the same measurements as my husband. The actual square footage of the floor was 350, which was 150 square feet over the 200 square feet coupon special. It appeared as if he deliberately over charged us. Additionally, the coupon special specifically stated "quality Oak Hardwood Floors" but the flooring to be installed was an inferior engineered product of a 1.9mm oak veneer on plywood. The word 'engineered' was omitted from the Angie's List advertisement. I am sending a letter to Angie's List showing the advertisement and the Invoice. I believe Tile and Carpet should not be "A" rated due to these serious misrepresentations of fact.

After some false starts and miscommunication, we love the final result of our shower remodel. We had selected a beautiful glass accent tile, unaware that this was a new material for Bob and his sub- contractors. Ultimately, Bob made it his business to give us a beautiful outcome. I would be happy to email a photo or two of our gorgeous shower. Is there any way for me to do that? Thank you.

When I first called Rob to install $6,000 worth of hardwood floors in my house he was prompt and responsive. After installation, there were about 10 spots that popped every time you walked on them. It took over 6 weeks and many (approximately 20-25) phone calls for him to fix the problems. On top of that he committed to having someone come to my house on several occasions to fix the issues, which mean that myself or wife had to stay home only for no one to show up. I wouldn?t even get a phone call telling me that no one would show up..very frustrating. I paid him the remaining balance and still have issues with my floor. Tile & Carpet has competitive prices but LOUSY customer service. I?m still waiting to hear back from him about resolving the issues that still exist. I would NOT recommend using this company!!

The owner was prompt in contacting me to measure and schedule an installation date. I had to reschedule which was not a problem. The installers arrived on time, asked if the correct carpeting and pad were the ones selected, assessed the situation, and went right to work. After the installation, they vacuumed the rooms and asked me to inspect the work. I was very pleased with the results. They also disposed of the old carpeting and pad. We had a short conversation before they left which let me know the extent of their knowledge of flooring. I would definitely hire them again, should the need arise. They were very pleasant to deal with.

I scheduled the laminate installation well in advance. Robert was willing to work with me when my schedule changed (other contractors ran behind). The laminate installation was done promptly and professionally - I am very happy with my new floors. There was one minor defect (one end of a section of quarter-round came loose), which Oscar's team fixed promptly once I pointed it out. The garage and lanai floors were done as a separate job from the laminate, and weren't scheduled as far in advance. There were a few scheduling hiccups, possibly because of the short notice, but we got through them. The washer and dryer in the garage presented an additional challenge, but Oscar and his team returned after the garage was dry to reinstall them. I highly recommend spending some quality time with each contract - not because of any legal sleight of hand or shenanigans, but because it spells out in detail what you're paying for. And that will prevent misunderstandings and frustration. These guys know what they're doing, and are professionals. Example one: There had been some minor confusion about the scope of the painting - I thought Robert had mentioned a sealer coat in the beginning, however the particular epoxy paint kit used on my garage did not require a sealer coat. That's not a complaint - I re-read the contract and looked over the epoxy kit's box. A sealer coat was totally unnecessary, and would have left the garage floor slippery. In other words, something was not as expected because MY expectation was wrong. Example two: When Oscar and his team came back to reinstall the washer & dryer, they decided the lanai floor really needed a second coat. I hadn't demanded it, they didn't call about it, and they didn't charge me for it. I just came home to a lanai floor with two coats instead of one. They also half-blocked the door to the lanai (using the prior contents of the lanai), so I wouldn't walk straight into wet paint. That last part was a much appreciated touch.
