It was great. The service started with a great estimate from the office and then the workmen themselves were very polite and were great to talk to as well as learn from. They did great work from beginning to end. I am very happy with the end result and would recommend them to family and friends.

Parts of it were excellent. Personal-wise has gone on the way and I'm still waiting for stuff to be done. I don't hear back from them and I try to take care of it without them but that'll cost too much money. It went from the big deal through the whole house. In fact, we probably just did away with the big deal. The painting gets a D. They did correct that. They had a worker who painted, not a painter. They did send a professional painter out to fix it so they did take care of that. The tile work was fine.
Description of Work: They did new floors throughout and the carpet where it needed. They did the kitchen, cabinets, back-splash, sink and new bathrooms. They did new counter-tops of one bathroom and one kitchen. They did the tile on the bath area.

Dear [Member Name Removed] In response to your review.Try and remember that we spoke briefly about the fact your house was built long ago.Which as we all know is concrete block. We painted over the existing paint that was already there. So I do not know what you was expecting as an outcome.I even came out to address your issues,Which I felt were not big issues at all.Your issues were based on a perception of what you think it should be ,rather than reality of how things really are.Example was the painting and another was the backsplash. It was a plaster wall that was cracked and bowed,my installer addressed this but you did not want to spend more money to make it right. Now that the glass mosaic sticks out ( not even an1/8'' ) you do not like the outcome. Now addressing my painter. She is still painting for me with no complaints. So I do not understand this one. Before anyone such as yourself should read my terms and conditions and notes on buyer's order before writing a review. It would help to clear any misunderstandings between us. I remain Sincerely Yours Robert Mello

pleteThe owner of this business came personally to show the tile and choices. Although I had to pay extra from the special offer, I liked the look of the tile and felt comfortable with my choices to pay approx. $1,500 over the "deal" that was offered via Angie's List. The owner was very personable, punctual and emoted a great deal of trust. However, while he estimated the job to take 2-3 days, the actual work took 5+ days. He subcontracted the job out and while I was initially pleased with the final product, there were parts of the job that were left undone -- all due to troubles the subcontractors ran into that were not related to the job. (I do not want to provide much detail because the subcontractors were very nice, but they were legal problems outside of their work that prohibited them from returning to my home. I had nothing to do with this; they were legal problems with drivers licenses, etc. Nevertheless, they could not return to my home because they were not able to drive.) To this day, the promises that were made -- and paid for -- are not completed. I contacted the owner 3 times. He is very nice, but unfortunately it took me 3 tries to explain the unfinished work. Sadly, he was not aware there was unfinished work from the subcontractor, and that dismayed me. He said the issue would be resolved but here I stand 18 months later and the unfinished work has not been completed. In summary: --while the job was estimated to take 2-3 days by the owner, it ended by taking an entire work week of 5 days. So, that led me to take 2 more days off work. --because of issues outside of his work or the project I purchased, a part of the shower I paid for and was promised remained incomplete. It is still incomplete to this day. --the owner was surprised when I told him of these unfinished pieces. Once he investigated them, he agreed they should be completed but they never were. Bottom Line: the owner I believe is a good person and wants to do the right thing, but there was no follow-through after the fact to rectify the issues I had because of the subcontractors' legal issues that prohibited them from returning to my home because they could not drive. Also, the owner was not on the same page as the subcontractors he hired with regards to the estimate on number of days work the project would be. This was an inconvenience and issue for me because I had to take 2 extra days off work. I know this was not intentional on either the owner or the subcontractor -- I definitely do not want a "rushed job" -- but there needed to be more communication on their side to give me a proper estimate. Overall, I would not recommend this provider. The work is nice, but it was left incomplete, even after I contacted the owner and found out the legal issues that arose with the subcontractors. I believe it was his responsibility to make things right, and he did not.

They really did a good job. I give them an “A” rating. I think they did what they said they were going to do and they water proofed it very well for me. They put a dry guard on like what I asked them to. Basically, I had problems with the tiles. When they started taking it down the first time, they found termites so they had to leave and treated it for a couple of months. They did not give me hard time about that, they just came back and did it. They did a follow up. There was a problem and they came back and fixed it and there is no problem since.
Description of Work: I did use the big deal of Tile & Carpet of Altamonte Springs. They put down the walls and put new tiles up. It was like three walls and the tiles.

Although the shower looks good I found that there was definitely a language barrier with the workers. There work was not very clean and I am grateful I waited to paint the walls. The night of the first day of the construction the pipe burst in the middle of the night causing a flood in the bathroom. In the end the shower looks good and they only took three days to complete.
Description of Work: The provider removed the old shower tile, fixed a small leak, and retired the shower. The tile is beautiful and the work was good. The corners are pretty straight. The shower handle has a small ability to adjust and the hot and cold are opposite of the labels.

Dear [Member name removed] I was not aware of the plumbing issue.i will definitely take this up with my installer. But I am pleased that you are happy with your shower remodel.Just a note.Remember that any and all unforeseen prep work behind the walls is an additional charge. You had a bad leaky pressure valve and extensive mold and mildew . We showed your husband the damage and he agreed to the additional charges to bring it to code. the reason I mention this is the B on the price. However thanks so much for the overall review. sincerely robert Mello tile and carpet of Altamonte

It went well. This is the second bathroom that Robert has done for me. I have been very pleased with both of them and have received many compliments on how beautiful they turned out. Robert and Lynn were very helpful to me when I was selecting the tiles at the store. I appreciated Lynn keeping me posted on what was happening when. The workers who did the job were very pleasant and professional and did a good job cleaning up after. I will definitely call Robert for any future carpet or tile needs I may have and will recommend him to my friends and relatives.

Problems from the start - ask for insurance information up front. I will not mention all the issues, only the major ones. Approximately eight months ago in April 2014, I hired the company ?Tile and Carpet of Altamonte? to install tile in two bathrooms and the kitchen. The company was recommended to me and Robert seemed knowledgeable about tile and installation when I visited his store. I explained that if possible I wanted the projected done before the early part of May as I was having company and wanted the house in order for the visit. Robert stated that he could have the Kitchen portion of the project completed in time and agreed to start within days of my hiring the company. They started the project in the latter part of April 2014. Installed three different tile styles - a different tile in each room. I love the tile products, couldn't find these selections at the big box stores. The problems started the first day when the crew sent by the company, George and approximately 3-4 men arrived to start the removal of the old tile. They removed the stove and started to remove tile from the kitchen. After about 30 minutes and removing approximately 2-3 feet of tile, they realized that they did not have the right equipment for the job and left to find the right equipment at a local rental store and after several hours called and said they would be back in the morning, but they never came back. When they did not return, I contacted Robert who said he did not know that they were a no show and would try to find out what happened. Later that day, Robert told me George had quit on him in the past and that George quit this time over a pay dispute between the two of them. Robert stated he would not be hiring George back on as he could not having his customers in this situation. I was told I could wait for him to find a new crew to finish the job but he could not provide a time frame or get my money back and start over with a new company. I had no choice but to have Robert continue with the project, in a hopes that the kitchen could be completed in a timely manner and my stove reinstalled. The next day Robert sent two new crew members out to install tile, however when they arrived and learned that they needed to take out the old tile first, something they were not prepared for, they left. It took five (5) days to get a new crew out to continue and finish the job, all that time I had no stove to cook with and company arriving. Turned out I had no stove and could not leave the house while my company was in town or I would be leaving workman unattended in my home. I was told by Robert that I would receive a discount for my inconvenience which I never received. Just FYI, George was rehired by Robert even though he walks out on jobs he doesn?t want to do. When the new crew arrived to finish the project, there was only one person assigned to remove the old tile (a different person for each room and all done at separate times) and one person, who started three - four days later, to install the new tile in all three rooms. The new tile installer Miguel, did not have enough supplies - tile, adhesive, or grout to finish any of the rooms, and in one case he had less than half of what was needed. None of the tile and/or supplies were delivered until the morning they were needed, even though I asked for everything be delivered at start of the project to make sure we had enough of each item to complete the job(s). The lack of supplies for each room caused more delays. I made numerous requests for more supplies and even drove to the store twice in an effort to pick up what was needed only to find out it was not ordered at the start of the project and was only ordered the day before I went to the store and were not available for pickup. At one point I was told the delays were my fault that because I didn't know how to measure and not enough supplies were ordered. However I had to remind them, Robert the owner of the company did the measuring for the entire project and the supplies were ordered based on his calculations. It took almost two months, finished mid-June, to complete the project of retiling two bathrooms and a kitchen in a standard size home. In mid-June, when the first time a shower was taken after the completion of the tile work in the smaller bathroom, the shower water came out under the toilet. The water traveled under the door and walls and damaged flooring in other rooms including laminate floors and carpet, plus furniture, cabinets and other items in the adjoining rooms. I called the tile company and Robert?s cell phone at the time of the flooding and got no response. Turned out Robert was on a cruise, but no one from the business returned my call. As determined by a plumber responding to the flooding emergency in the newly retiled bathroom, the toilet was improperly installed which caused the flooding. Since June 2014, I and my insurance company have made several requests in writing for the insurance company information used by Tile and Carpet of Altamonte so we can file claims with his insurance for our loses and Robert has refused to provide it. Robert refuses to accept that the flooding and subsequent damage was caused by his tile installer because his plumber didn?t have a chance to respond. However, if someone from his business would have returned my call, the plumber could have responded that morning. Robert has stated that we will have to go to court before he gives us the information we need. Recently I needed to have the tile company come out and repair the grout in the master bathroom as it had developed numerous holes throughout the bathroom. Although getting things scheduled took a while, they came out and repaired the holes but cannot guarantee that the holes won?t come back. I was told that if the holes do reappear, all the grout will have to be removed and replaced. Also, the tile in this bathroom looks like wood planks, however, one cut piece was installed in the pattern going in the wrong direction and a couple of tiles are not flush with the adjacent tiles. My recommendation to anyone considering using this company, is to get the insurance information up front before any work begins. At this point I am wondering if Robert is refusing to provide the information because he doesn?t have any ? just a thought. Also, keep in mind George's willingness to walk out on jobs.

Dear Member Let's begin with this untruthful review.Because you had company coming you wanted it done right away.and that George had to be the one to do the job, because you were a referral from a relative of yours that we just did a modular stone tile on the floor and 2 showers. Now you were told at that time that George was extremely busy. But you insisted you would wait. When we finally set a date it was very apparent you we anxious when we a arrived. We started to take up existing tile and you thought the process was taking too long.So out of an act kindness,we headed out to locate a larger chipping hammer at no extra charge.During this time we stayed in communication via e mail.So far much of your side is just stuff you made up.So how is it we did such a great job in your relatives? And yet with the same installer ( George ) your not happy.Since your job George has done over 40 installations and out of the last 8 Angie's List reviews which are AAAAAAAAAA and 5 A's are Georges. You forgot to mention that Miguel refused to return to your home, because of the way you treated him.I finally had to beg Oscar to go finish your house. Now let"s address your so called leak we caused. You said it was the toilet and that it had tile chips in it.We now live in an age where my guys takes pics of every facet of the job, including yours. And it shows we covered the flange with a plastic bonnet that has elastic around it.Now you claim you called the store,NOTHING ON THE CALLER ID AND NO EMAILS.concerning this alleged water damage do to our mistake. And i have all copy of emails from beginning to end.And finally the reason i have not sent your insurance company any info , is because I have turned it over to my attorney.Between pics and emails he believes we have a good case to defend myself. And WIN.It takes so much of pleasing my customers to get A on Angie's list. This one F will drop me to a possible C.This could hurt my business in loss revenue, which means less for my family and I.Can you really live with that? They don’t do the job, they subcontract it. The first subcontractor was messy and the job wasn’t finished properly. He tried to make me sign to say the job was done so he could get paid by the contractor. I didn’t agree to sign it because the job wasn’t completed properly. He got mad and took his stuff and left. I contacted the contractor, and they sent another subcontractor in to fix it. The transition between tile and marble isn't straight, and the subcontractor said it wasn’t their job to do it. The contractor said it was going to be an extra cost to fix the transition. Now the new subcontractor has to fix all the finishes for the work, and the door can’t be closed because of the poor work. The contractor said there was going to be an additional charge to fix the door as well. The first subcontractor broke the marble into about seven pieces. The contractor said they aren’t responsible for it. The contractor said they would take care of the issues that resulted from the first subcontractor, but six days later the job still hasn’t been finished. There has been a long delay for the contractor to get the job completed.

Dear Member let's start from the beginning.First you told me the product was and 18x18 marble,it turns out it was a 24x24 which labor costs more to do.My installer did it anyway at the agreed price, when he could have charged you more.Second issue was you said you would have marble on site, not the case you had my installer pick it up with no regard for time ,labor and gas. Then you make claim he chipped your marble.Thirdly it clearly states we are not responsible for products purchased outside of our store that are clearly sub par.The product was breaking apart in his hands. And lastly on the contract you signed it clearly says we are not responsible for trimmimg door. You read everything on my contract that was sent to you via docusign and you sent it back signed.I will be challenging this offensive review with Angie's List to get this uncalled grade removed, along with a lien on your home for the unpaid balance.Should you decide to resolve this there will be additional charges for any marble chipped after the final date of the install.Bythe way i forgot to mention that you had no problem with chipped marble until after you moved in on the 28th and our job was completed on the 27th.And finally you will have to pay for additional charges if you want my carpenter to come out and trim your doors.Dear sir I and my guys do not take advantage of people nor will we be taken advantage of. sincerely robert mello tile and carpet of altamonte

Robert was very helpful in explaining the different types of hardwood flooring and which would be suitable for our application. He was patient when we came back 4 or 5 times over about a 5 week period checking out various samples, comparing with other suppliers and trying to make a decision. We eventually made a decision on what we wanted and got quotes from 5 different local vendors for the same product. Robert's quote was by far the best and he offered it with no haggling or pitting one company against another. Some of the other companies offered to 'beat' his price by a few cents but that was after we told them that Robert's price was almost $2 per sq ft less. We are very happy we went with Robert. The ordering process went very smoothly with everything coming in just when he said it would.
Description of Work: Purchased over 1800 sq ft of high quality hardwood flooring and glue for a glue down application. We only purchased the flooring from him as we already had an installer we were happy with.

Dear [removed member name] Sounds to me like I'm giving away too much money LOL. All kidding aside I price my products fair.I feel that when people go out to shop,I give a price so people know that I didn't start out high, then come down, because to me in my mind I would be ripping people off in the beginning.I think people expect to pay a fair market price and that I need to make a profit to stay in business. So when they do shop they realize i was fair right from the beginning, whether it be 300 sf or 3000sf. That is how I have stayed in business for 15 years. Merry Christmas to you and your family Thanks for the great review Robert Mello Tile and Carpet of Altamonte

Preparing our house for sale involved significant updates and repairs which Robert and his guy Angel did a great job on. The job included new flooring, wall and ceiling texturing and paint, rebuilding one bathroom and updating a second, and various repairs. Robert helped us find materials that were inexpensive but looked good. In fact we had our doubts about the wall color he selected, but when it went on it was better than anything we had imagined. And With a job like this there are inevitably communication issues but when they did come up they were resolved professionally and satisfactorily. Angel and his crew worked diligently to make sure everything was done well. They succeeded well enough that the first prospect who toured the property made an immediate, acceptable offer that more than covered the cost of the project. I would recommend Robert and Angel to anyone. The price won?t be the cheapest in town but it will be reasonable and the work will be well worth it.

I'm very satisfied with the job that Tile and Carpet of Altamonte did in replacing the tile floor in my bathroom. Robert was helpful and knowledgeable in answering all my initial questions and setting up the project in a sensible way. The price was fair. Lynn was friendly, responsive and a pleasure to work with in completing the purchase and scheduling the job. The installers, Juan and Eddie, were excellent - very efficient, professional and skilled. They did an excellent job completing the work. Will definitely use this company again if I need more tile flooring work done. Thanks for a job well done!
Description of Work: Tile and Carpet of Altamonte replaced the tile in my bathroom. They did an excellent job and the price was very fair.

Initially great. Very personable, a born salesman. Was able to start in a timely manner, but... after the demo and basic stuff started, his main employee left for a week's vacation and due to employee's other committments wasn't able to restart ours again until two weeks later. The employee subcontracted to others, IE plumber, and I had to get a separate glass door person. The tiles the owner brought over to show us were obviously low end, and ugly, so I had to hunt for others that looked a lot better. I finally found some at his showroom that I'm quite satisfied with, but that costs an extra approx $1000. There were extra $ costs throughout for plumber, glass guy, the people who hung up mirror and shelves and toilet paper holder. I guess I was very naive and stupid to think that this was going to cost only $1450. Instead of converting the old bathtub to a new bathtub I did a tub to shower conversion, and that cost extra. We had big issues with communication. I called several times throughout the construction, and there were problems with his not returning my calls, or only after I raised h***. He said he'd call that afternoon and didn't etc. When we initially met I said that I wanted to do a tub to shower conversion, and he kept thinking that I just wanted tub. I said that I wanted certain things, and he wouldn't remember from one time to the next, obviously had not written them down. Delays because he didn't order enough tile, etc. Measurements that he'd obviously not written down, or didn't remember. He also has problems communicating with his own staff, and will tell them one thing, but then say that he told them another. I've really debated whether or not to post this eval. But finally decided to do it. I believe that this contractor has too much on his plate, and maybe needs to have an assistant to help keep him organized. They are very nice people, but the whole experience was very frustrating for me. A couple of things I expect when contracting for work is that they communicate with me just about every day and let me know changes ASAP. I also expect them to be on board with my job, and remember (or at least have notes in front of them about it) the specifics. I fully expect a rebuttal with lots of denial. Just remember the owner is a born salesman.

Dear (member name) No rebuttal from me.My installer just tried to get it done before he left.We had unforseen prep work that needed to be done.It just slowed us down. But you are absolutely right. It should have not taken that long to do your job. I truly am sorry for the inconvenience I may have caused you.Your overall rating of "B" was too kind. But in the end your bathroom did turn out beautiful. And that is always a main goal with me,that your end result was just how you pictured it. Great selection of flooring. This place has to be on your short list before you make your final decision for your home renovation projects. Robert is upfront and gives his honest opinion. We would for sure order here again. I almost made the mistake not checking this little hidden gem before I finalized my order. I am very happy overall with the quality of the laminate flooring and moisture barrier I got.

Robert was great to work with. He has a showroom so you can see the materials. Robert is trustworthy- he did what he said he would do. He has a great crew. Great customer service: Ramone did a lot of the work- he was hard working. I asked Ramone to lower the shower head by 4 in so my wife could better reach; he built bench to exact dimensions we requested. He centered the niche on the wall. Total job took 10 days. Working with Tile & Carpet of Altamonte Springs was perfect for us- -T&C is on Angie's list with good reviews. -Angie's list was running a special for shower work. -T&C has a showroom(note- no frills showroom- savings passed to customer). -T&C did the tile work. -I purchased vanity, faucets, shower head, toilet, shower door and T&C installed.-I feel this approach was more economical instead of a one stop contractor that would complete these purchases. It was a challenge for me to make sure I had all the purchased items ready so T&C could do installation- but if you are committed to do this part of the job let T&C professionally install, you will save money on those materials and have confidence in the installation. Fantastic job, my wife and I are happy with results.

The quality of the work was very good. The issue was the contractor didn't provide a crew that could complete the job in one day as promised. The job took three days and the contractor's office failed to notify me of the additional time to complete the job and wouldn't provide additional support to complete the job as promised.. This delay required me to obtain hotel rooms until completion.

Dear [Member Name] I am so sorry that the price for your shower remodel was more than you expected..The coupon was designed for a tub surround. And you wanted a complete shower remodel, which required new pressure valve, new pan, build new curb,,install of durock and install tile, complete demolition, new durock plus the tile you picked was 3 times more expensive, with decos and listellos. This was basically a min 5 day job. If for any reason you find it cheaper to do the job with someone else,I will try and match it. I remain sincerely yours Robert Mello Tile and Carpet of Altamonte

Provider could not have been nicer to work with - very knowledgeable about flooring products, and able to work out a solution that gave me much higher quality than I would have expected for my budget. Crew was timely and efficient, and had no problems moving and reconnecting my kitchen appliances. I was planning to use the provider for several other projects, but major health problems put those projects on hold for now.
Description of Work: Provider replaced badly worn vinyl flooring with very attractive faux wood flooring in the kitchen and sun room.

Although we didn't end up using Tile & Carpet Of Altamonte Springs, I appreciated this company's honestly and willingness to help. I purchased the Big Deal for $1500 for a shower upgrade but there ended up being extra costs that I just wasn't expecting. I wanted to upgrade the tile and the provider was very willing to go over details and prices with me, but the extra cost just wasn't fitting our budget right now. The cost was unexpectedly high but the company was really great to work with. Once we decide what we want to do about our shower remodel, we will definitely consider Tile & Carpet Of Altamonte Springs for their business.

Their Special was for $1500, and then they said that I don’t qualify for that because I had a different kind of tile which is true and so it ended up being well over like $3500. It was so far off that I just thought it was a joke. They called me back but they were so far off . However I did not feel like dealing with them. There were about $1000 worth of $100 charges because I live a couple of miles further than normal. They were very nice and everything he told me sounded like he knew what he was doing. But just that the quote came in so much higher and when I saw all these little $100 fee on this and that I just felt like it was too much.

Dear [member name removed] totally not fair on your review.I showed you what the special was concerning the tile which was on the special and the special called for in stock tile..But you wanted 4x8 black and white subway tile and wanted installed on a subway look. This was a special ordered tile and installation cost more. And you lived 35 miles from the store.I went to your home without you purchasing the coupon strickly as a courtesy to you.Why didn't you call me first to discuss your unhappiness. We maybe could have worked something out.I hope people that read this, feel the same way i do that this is an unfair review about me.
