Description of Work: Replaced roof in January of 2013. Estimate was less than the above, but they clearly warned me that if the underlying plywood needed to be replaced there would be additional charges. Some of the plywood did need to be replaced. They were very professional and cleaned up the area every day. I had an issue with a fast growing tree that pushed against the new roof a few months after it was done - I felt that Mr McDavid should have advised me to remove the tree (I wouldn't have liked hearing it though). I had the tree removed in Nov and Mr McDavid came and fixed the dented place in the roof at no additional charge.

Description of Work: The owner of McDavid came by to look at the job which was to repair a leak in the roof under a solar heater and said he would get back to me but never did. I got a local handyman to do the job for $75.

Description of Work: Roof repair was done as discussed and promised . They were prompt, very helpful, and professional. Price was very reasonable. Wish I had used them before for another repair that was similar in scope but 3 times higher. Great family company that I would recommend to anyone. Previously didn't seek out a professional roofing firm because thought they wouldnt be interested in small jobs.

+ -1 moreThe workers cleaned up the mess, but could have done a better job with the roofing cement on the lead sleeves, somewhat sloppy looking. I was somewhat surprised that there was no guarantee for the repairs. However the workers told me that the repairs would probably outlast the shingled roof!
Description of Work: I had 1 of 3 stand pipes coming out of the roof, that was leaking into the crawl space. The other 2 stand pipe seal flashings were disintegrating badly also, but not leaking. The installers installed lead sleeves over the PCV stand pipes, folded the top opening of the lead sleeves over the opening of the PVC pipe. They installed new shingles around the flashing of the lead sleeves and then coated the lead sleeves with black roofing cement, to keep the squirrels from dining on the lead sleeves!

+ -1 moreThe project went well. Three and one half day project for a five person crew. Generally good communications with both the office and the crew. Well mannered. Project done on time. Area around the house was left in good order each night and at the end of the project. So far I have found few nails or debris. No complaints from neighbors about noise or disruption. The roof looks great. Curiously it has not rained in my area in the month since the job was completed so I can not tell if we are completely watertight. I am not expecting problems but will report here if I do. Given no unforeseen problems we would reuse McDavid again and would definitely recommend you include them as one of the three or four bids you need to get if you need a roofer.
Description of Work: Re-roof home with architectural shingles (fifty two squares). Improve ventilation. Repair minor water damage. Company made several suggestions but no heavy sales pressure. Very low key, family type operation. Seemed like a good stable business (which was important to us). Helped explain options (e.g. peak vs. off peak ventilation, shingle types, underlayment, valley flashing) and informed us of what additional cost might be uncovered. A generally pleasant and professional exchange. Final costs exceeded estimates by about $500 (4% of total cost) due to need to renail roof to meet local code requirements (the original had been stapled). While we were informed of this possibility and the cost seemed reasonable we felt the problem might have been identified earlier in the process. Still this was the only unexpected charge and it seemed fair. Even with this charge McDavid was in the lower half of my estimates.
