The two technicians that came were great. They were polite, helpful, caring, knowledgeable, helped me out and did fantastic job and clean up

He came out to give us an estimate. We discussed what he was going to do. He gave an estimate to us but it did not cover all the things we had talked about. I asked him to include those things in the estimate and he said that was generally what he does anyway and there was no need to put it into the estimate. We told him we wanted it in there anyway and he said he would revise the estimate but he never got back to us after that.

The cons: Punctuality. Day 1. They called me an hour after they were supposed to be there because the Foreman had a family issue. OK, I understand. Day 2. Perfectly Sunny Day, 88 degrees. They no-called, no-showed. When I called them, they cancelled due to the weather. Then the Foreman calls me personally to tell me that they didn't get the parts in. Grrrrrrrrrrrr!!!! The pros: The job was done right the first time. It's been about 6 months with a few heavy storms and some snow, and there have been no leaks or other issues. Also, the exhaust pipe came out of the house on one of the seams, and they had trouble get the boot to look nice, but they worked until I was satisfied. I will take a punctuality issue over a leaky roof any day :-) Over all, Job Well Done!!!

Wertz & Company did an excellent job. Were on time and even worked in the rain. Crew were exceptionally hard working...did their job right the first time. They were on time, cleaned up after themselves. Bill their foreman was on the job to make sure everything went smoothly each day. Since I am a widow and this was my first major construction project... I cannot say how grateful I am to everyone, from the owner Rob, to the office staff, to Bill the foreman and to the workers that completed my job!! I do not think they were professional at all. I had a noise which is gone, but now I have a swish that is in my powder room. They told me they did not take something apart on my chimney. I saw something on my roof and the cap was off and there was a black cylinder sitting on my roof. I want to see how they will follow through and take care of this problem that I did not have until they came to my home in December. I talked to the main man, he said he cannot get to me within two weeks. Awaiting satisfaction.

They sent someone out the same day I called to give a price estimate. When I agreed to service they were able to start the repair next day. The crew that showed up were on time, polite and professional. They completed the work within the time estimate I had been provided. The request was for them to try and match the original building materials (we're preparing to sell the house, and wanted the brick fireplace to look good) to the best of their abilities. They did a wonderful job, it's looks better than we could have hoped. We would recommend to a friend, or use again.

Our Home is old. The chimney was falling apart and blocked. In order to hook up our new hot water heater, the chimney had to be opened and lined. It was a difficult job and the men were determined to get this job done and make sure the job was complete before they left. They were wonderful! They accomplished getting all the debris out of the chimney and installed the liner. They cleaned up nicely and made sure that we were good to go!

Said they could repair leak in mud room roof but couldn't guarantee it. Paid 600.00 for repairs and roof is still leaking.

Contacted Wertz for replacement of roof (due to leaks) and repairs to our deck. down gable vent. They came out and gladly replaced our roof but never informed us that the leaks weren't from the roof, they were actually from an upside gable vent. Which we didn't find out until a few months later when we called them back to complain the new roof was leaking. The rook itself looks beautiful and I have no camplaints but the crew left behind lots of debris (nails, old roof pieces) and broke a deck cabinet without telling anyone that I had to call and complain about. They returned the next day to repair it but I felt they should have mentioned it when it happened. The deck repairs were never completed because when they came out to do them, we were informed that there was no was they could actually do them for the quoted price and would need to come back to requote. It took a month of phone calls and emails threatening to complain to BBB to get them back out here but by that point I knew I wasn't going to go with a company with such poor customer service.

We had some gutter cleaning done and they told us to have the roof checked out. They said they would do some basic maintenance and some other repairs. When they got up on the roof they said it did need some maintenance but, they only did maintenance on roofs that were installed by their company. The only way they would work on our roof is if we got a whole new roof! We told them we weren't in the market for a new roof. I stopped answering their phone calls after that.

They did very well. They got here as soon as they could with all the other calls they were getting for roof repairs due to a storm. They didn't charge anything. They just came in and made the repairs real quick. I put a new roof on the foyer a couple of years ago and it was covered by the contract. The experience I've had with them has been very good. They put on the new roof in a day or two. They are fairly prompt and they do good work and there is no further hassle with them.

They were to patch around the chimney. I thought it was completed til last week during a big storm. It started to leak again. :-/

On the first day, the clean-up of the work materials was not complete and over night the wind blew some of the materials from my front porch roof into my neighbors’ yard. The next day I spoke with the crew foreman and he assured me that the clean-up would be better that day, and it was. The work took four days to complete and at the end of the job all materials were removed and my yard was returned to its original state.

Some different companies had came to my house and said my chimney needed some work done on it. I had Wertz come out to take a look. They came and inspected my chimney for free and informed me that I did not need any work done, and that my chimney was fine. They were very friendly and honest.

Wrecked 2 shingles and did shoddy repointing of the chimney. Roof leaked June 8. I cannot prove direct cause of the leak, but the repointing was shoddy, even to a layman. My family has paid nearly $900.00 over the insurance claim, plus the 1125.00 they charged for the work. Am hoping the chimney flues work properly this autumn and winter for the young family that bought the house. Disappointed that Wertz'crew did not stand behind their work, but failed to return calls and claimed the job was done, and there was a pre-existing condition. If there was, why did the roof leak after they were there?

It was an Angie's List Big Deal that I purchased. It was very good. I thought the estimate he gave me was a little bit too high. The roof was about $5,000 and the chimney was another $2,000. But they checked everything. They did perform the work but it wasn't what I expected. When I called them the first day, they set the appointment up for me.

did not fix the problem. poor finish , cosmetic blemish. UPDATE and RESPPONSE TO MERCHANT'S RESPONSE TO MY REVIEW. Bob from this company has since responded to this review with a reply full of incorrect information. he is failing to acknowledge the shoddy work done by his incompetent workers. the picture shows clearly that the re-pointing done by his worker was callousley done using a grey colored cement while most chimney's including mine are re-pointed with white cement. as most incompetent people do he is trying to deflect and deceive the person reading the review by pointing to the white discoloration on the chimney due to smoke! WELL DONE BOB, YOU TRIED VALIANTLY BUT FAILED BRILLIANTLY. i wrote a detailed letter with pictures attached to show you that your workers did a real poor job and actually did not fix the problem. My problem that you were fixing was not discoloration of my chimney but a water leak which continues to this day. i did not run to angies list and post a review on you i gave you 2 months to respond to my letter, if you were so concerned to make things right why did you not write back to me? you lost my trust by your teams poor work and overcharging for it , so you can work to earn it back and not post falsities in response to my review. you and your people lack common decency and are just out to get people. your guys were trying to upsell me to spend $1800 for some stainless steel tubing and they said they would need to put a hole in my foundation wall! thank god I did not agree to it otherwise i would probably be end up with bigger problems. I am posting the entire letter i wrote to the merchant below dated 12-25-2012 to which i've failed to get a response till date. and quot; In November of this year during hurricane Sandy I noticed that there was some leak from my chimney flue and it came down to my basement via the HVAC exhaust. There was a few gallons of water that leaked in the course of 2 days or so. After this I called your company (I was familiar with your firm due to 1150 WDEL website and ads) and after a couple of days your people came in on 11/13/12 for estimation. The person who came into the house and inspected the chimney said flashing looked fine and I showed him the basement area also. He suggested repointing of some chimney cracks at the top and said it would cost me a couple of hundred for it or I could go for a steel sleeve in the flue and it would be around $1500 for this. I asked him to write this up so I could make my mind up, he went to the van and met with his colleague and came back with the attached estimate of $ 375! I asked why it had gone up from a couple of hundred to 375 he told me that the guy in the van (who had not stepped out of the van) was better at estimating this and that’s why the price was higher. As the temperature was falling and the repointing would not set if I waited longer I agreed for the work to be done hoping that the WDEL referral would really pan out for me. But I was in for a disappointment; they mixed the cement of a different color and did a shoddy repointing job as can be seen in the attached picture. Despite this cosmetically shoddy job I was still hoping that the fix was in and my leak would be gone but boy was I in for a disappointment! The next 2 times we’ve had windy rain there has been the same leak in my basement storage area. I’ve attached a picture from the first time on 12/20/12 and I had a much larger leak of about 15-20 gallons on Christmas day again. I am seriously disappointed over the whole experience I’ve had with your firm and am wary of asking you to really fix this problem permanently for fear of being gouged again in return for shoddy and ineffective workmanship. Wertz and Company did an excellent job working with us. Due to the height and steepness of the roof, we had to wait for scaffolding to be built before the chimney could be removed. Wertz kept us informed as they tried to figure out the best solution for safely removing the chimney. Thankfully, the wait was not long (about 1 week) and the chimney was removed promptly without incident.

The workers showed up on time, behaved professionally, and did quality work. They cleaned up at the end of each day (they were here for four days) and at the completion of the job. They communicated with me regularly and were very respectful. The foreman spoke with me on the phone prior to my signing the contract and was very knowledgeable and helpful.

Came the next day after my email from Angies. They were very thorough and provided a written estimate. The work they proposed was much broader then I felt was needed, and their price for what I wanted done seemed high.

They were very thorough with their inspection, explained everything that was needed in detail and emailed us the estimate that very day. Their prices were not the cheapest, but very fair and cheap is not always good. The work was scheduled very quickly. The were punctual, professional and very tidy. The best part was that when they left, there was nothing to clean up! Nice guys!! I would recommend them 100%!!!

We're thankful there are companies out there like Wertz and Company. They came on time, finished what someone else had started, and were very professional and courteous. They gave us good advice.
