The Repair Squad

I have a leaky roof that is coming from Chimney. Wayne went out to give recommendation and repair estimate. He was not pushy and he gave me some idea's on how to tackle the leak. He also gave me estimates on replacing roof on my addition. The price for the addition is likely high compare to the other quotes that I have, but my concern right now is the main house roof leak. Unfortunately it's also a busy season for roofer so I have to be in queue for about 3-4 weeks and on the day he went out our area got hail in the afternoon making it more complicated for roofer scheduling. I really cant afford to wait that long but if they were available immediately I could have gotten him the job.

I would NOT recommend The Repair Squad to even fix a bird cage. This guy Wayne could NOT get his act together. He sent a band of misfits out to my house who didn't even know what they were supposed to be doing. I contracted to have new deck rails and posts put on my deck and new doors on my shed. When I mentioned the shed doors, the workers knew nothing about that aspect of the job. Then they only brought enough posts for four posts for the deck when nine were needed. Wayne never even responded to the job site that day. When I called him to inquire as to when/how the shed doors were going to get done, he said he didn't know. I fired him immediately, especially after he raised his voice to me. Not a good experience.

We had an old 2 layer roof torn off and replaced, soffits replaced with new perforated vinyl, some bad fascia board replaced and then all fascia wrapped, and three 14 foot columns on front porch replaced with Azek. Overall, very pleased with the look and quality of the work. Everyone that we encountered was very friendly, honest, and professional. Pricing was fair and upfront and detailed which we really liked. The way they priced the job enabled us to pick and choose what we wanted to have done. This was a lot of work for us to have done to our home which stretched almost a week (partly due to rain delays) and all throughout the entire process, everyone was courteous and friendly. George, who performed the soffit/fascia/column repair was not only skilled and extremely experienced but a true perfectionist. The crew that replaced the roof was courteous, hard working, and friendly as well. Very skilled and really worked like a well oiled machine with great team work, which is probably how they did the whole roof in a day. Clean up was excellent. Wayne the owner recommended the Azek for our columns and although a little more pricey, we love the look and feel it was well worth the extra expense. Colleen in the office was always very helpful and courteous despite my many questions. We would not hesitate to hire this company again and recommend them. A real gem, true pleasure to work with and happy to have found them.

We found the repair squad to be very professional. They worked really hard while they were at our home. They were on time and came the days they said they would be there. There was one delay and they called to tell us they would come on another date and they followed through. We were happy that 1 company could do multiple repairs instead of piece mealing out the repairs. They were good, fair, and we would use them again without question.

The loan requires the contractor supply all material and labor, taking draws for services after completion of each item. Repair Squad was unable to supply even the initial material for re-roofing my home (so I supplied materials). They did roof replacement & framed a porch hip. However they did not complete the porch concrete or install the columns immediately. They moved inside "to help me get more done to be able to move into the house quicker". Due to their delays, the porch has been held up with 2x4's all winter. Unskilled labor was used to lay hardwood floors which had to be repaired by my next contractor. I believe they can handle small jobs--only one or two day projects (re-roofing only without structural changes, changing fixtures in a bathroom or kitchen, but not entire remodeling) but I would not suggest them for a large project. They don't have resources, subs or credit to pull off a large project. Wayne is a very nice guy that knows a lot, but when he got underwater on my project from the beginning, became difficult to get up with. He charged by the hour for labor and was not able to keep up with the job cost, which cost me much more than should have so I have to delete several outdoor projects in landscaping and paver work to be able to complete my home within the original mortgage loan amount.

They did really well. Overall very please with the final product and price.

My wife and I felt very comfortable and trusting of Wayne from our first contact months back when we discussed other work which we had to postpone. Recently a more pressing repair was needed and I spoke with Wayne about it. Two repairmen were on-site and on time within 2 days, friendly, and completed work within an hour at estimated cost. I would recommend them and plan to call them about other jobs.

The companydid a phenomenal job. They performed the inspection and replaced a few shingles using shingles I had so they did not charge me extra. I needed additional work done and they gave me an estimate for the work, were willing to use materials I already had and took that into consideration with the estimate they gave me. They were available by email and phone and were very courteous whenever I spoke with them. They were prompt and did the work. They performed the work while I was at work and they were so clean that I didn't even know they had done the work until I noticed the repairs were made.

Called Repair Squad after reading their review on Angies List. Wayne came out to see the proposed project within several days at an agreed upon time. The work involved replacing outside doors on an attached shed, replacing the inner paneling with 1/2 inch plywood, and replacing the top railing on a 20 x 20 ft deck and attached ramp. Received estimate by email within several days. After my agreeing to their doing the work, we agreed on when the work should begin. They were unable to start on the day proposed but I received a call several days in advance and it was okay with me. The work started one or two days later but was interrupted by a snow storm one day later. However work continued several days later when the snow began to melt and the deck reappeared. They then finished the work within 2 days. The work completed was just as I proposed and the quality was excellent. I am very pleased with this first experience with the Repair Squad.

He explained the problem and suggested an inexpensive fix that we could do ourselves. I appreciated his willingness to help us any way possible. I'll definitely call him again with any other home repair issues in the future.

Very on time and excellent work. Very pleasant recommend them.

Everybody was very friendly and easy to talk with. They showed up promptly at 8:00 AM on the days scheduled and worked until finished. This job took a couple of days because they had to allow wallboard to set before doing the painting and finishing off. There was no money asked for upfront. The owner came and inspected the job after it was done. I was very satisfied with it, but he had his men come back the next day and touch up some areas, which I thought was very conscientious of him. It was not until he and I were satisfied that he asked for payment. It was a fine job and I would certainly hire this outfit to do other jobs around my home if needed.

All went very well. We scheduled the work and the workers arrived on time. The first group arrived and took care of the gutter problem, later that morning the drywall repair personnel showed up, again when scheduled, and went right to work starting the repair. They told us that it would take several days to allow for the joint compound to dry enough to proceed. The next morning, again on schedule and time, the man came to replace the screen door and completed the flashing work. The drywall man returned on two more scheduled occasions to complete the repair of the drywall. Overall they were all very professional, polite and went right to work on their assigned tasks. I would definitely recommend The Repair Squad for this type of work and plan on using them again in the near future. I rated their pricing as "Good" only because an "Excellent" price, in my opinion, would be FREE.

From the estimate to the repair it was an excellent experience. My calls were returned promptly. The person who came out to repair the roof was on time and very courteous. I did not even know he was there. He cleaned up the area and it looks very nice. We have not had rain yet to test the repair but I am sure everything is good. They even gave me a price when I am ready to put in a new roof. I would definitely consider them when I need to rplace my main roof.

Everyone was very helpful, professional, and personable. They were not pushy about doing things that were not necessarily needed, which I appreciated. They also were always on time and returned phone calls quickly. We will definitely use them in the future.

The quote was prompt and broken down by job making it easy to select the most necessary jobs and defer others. I felt the pricing was reasonable. It was easy to schedule the repairs. Wayne, George, and Colleen were professional. The work was well done. I will have many more repairs to do and will definitely use them again for a variety of jobs.

Rude. Unresponsive. Uncaring. Did I mention how rude the office person was? This highly rated biz showed none of its high praise work to me. I have a broken basement window. They list that they are open on Sat. I called on Sat morning, I believe it was morning. No response. Mon a.m. Someone called and said they were too swamped to help but would call on Tuesday. Having not heard anything by 11:30 with air conditioned air still billowing out into the near 100 degree temperatures I called. Geez. How rude and unhelpful. If I'm going to sound frustrated, she said, they didn't need my biz. The ONLY reason I am still trying to use their service is because I don't want to start all over and be at the bottom of one else's job list. NOW as I was typing the above I got a call from a repairman who told me he was at my house yesterday and prepared a quote. He left a message to let me know, but it didn't get to my phone. I certainly believe he did what he said, but we agreed he may have dialed the wrong number. I'm now waiting for the estimate via email. I will follow up this review with hopefully a better one though the initial mess can't be corrected. MORE No. The work was never done because of the outrageous estimate of 185.00! Fortunately I found another service on Angie's List who was immediately response, caring, and highly professional. For the same job his charge was $70.

This job was necessitated by a township inspection report for the sale of our home. The initial work included only 2 joists, but after a re-inspection the township wanted two additional joists sistered. It is unclear whether I misunderstood the initial inspectors and their report, or if they changed their mind on re-inspection. Regardless the need for a repeat visit was not The Repair Squad's fault. The Repair Squad was very responsive on initial contact. Wayne came out to provide an estimate on the job within a day or two of my call and based on his price (~$900 for an estimated 1.5 days of labor for 2 men), we arranged for the work to be done. He came with two of his guys on time, described the job to them and left them to do the work. They finished in good order in one full day, cleaning up after themselves and restoring the garden bed retained by the previously leaning wall to its tidy, well mulched state. After our township inspector came back out, he required us to additionally sister the two joists between the ones he had pointed out as defective on his first visit. I contacted Wayne and The Repair Squad again, and he said their minimum charge for any job was $175, which would be sufficient for the work that needed to be done. His guys came out and installed the other two joists in about 30-45 minutes and headed out. When the inspector came a third time, he pointed out that the sistered joists were apparently unsecured in any way, which was unacceptable. On closer examination I saw that three of the four joists did in fact have a half dozen wood screws connecting them to their sisters, but the one on the end did not, in fact, have a single screw, nail, or bolt securing it and was held in place by friction alone. At the inspector's suggestion, I went to Home Depot and bought 16 carriage bolts, washers, and nuts and installed 4 to a joist myself, securing them to the inspector's satisfaction. I called The Repair Squad to complain about the poor workmanship. After leaving a message with the office, Wayne called me back within an hour or two to get the whole story. After making my displeasure known, Wayne apologized and told me to disregard the charge for the second visit as recompense. Ultimately I am well satisfied with the outcome of this job. Wayne was very responsive and professional in all of our dealings, before during and after the job was done. However he seems to have some quality assurance issues with his underlings to be aware of. We will consider them in the future for jobs that need done on our new house, but will make sure to have better oversight and a final inspection of the work to make sure things aren't overlooked or corners cut while the manager is not on site.
