ColorPro Painting

We purchased a new house, appx 2,500 square ft and wanted to paint the entire interior before moving in. We attempted to get 3 painting bids. One vendor, highly rated on Angie's List, did not respond to a phone request for a bid. Color Pro and another painter did. Both arrived on the same day, a few hours apart, to look at the house, and bid. Both said it would take one person 10 days work for the interior of the house, (plus one day for a two car garage) but Steve Friedel's bid was more cost competitive, and he was professional and seemed very interested in what we, the client, wanted to have done. So, we picked him. Comments about Steve Friedel, ColorPro (cell 302-530-3504). He responded promptly to a call requesting a bid. He arrived for the bid process at the exact time we agreed. When we met at other times during the process, he was always timely, never late. His estimate for the work and his final price were exactly the same...no surprises. I did "add" something to the original bid....stairs/walls to the basement, and he gave me a good price for that as well. He didn't take advantage of the fact that he already "had" the job I knew I would pay for the "paint" so I asked him if I could use my credit card with Sherwin Williams for the paint (I travel a lot and wanted the travel points) and he readily agree. He estimated the paint cost, for our color selections, to be $600 upfront and the final amount was $620, so his estimates are excellent. He always returned phone calls promptly and courteously. He does do email a little bit (sfriedel66@gmail.com), sent his bid by email, but he seems to prefer human interaction of talking face to face, or on the phone conversations, which was fine with us. Because it was a new house, we were not there when he was painting, but would stop in after hours. We were immediately struck by how neat and clean he is....meticulous is an ever better word. Each night, he left the house immaculate, and you can tell he has a great respect for the owner's property. He always was asking for feedback during the process, because he said he would never accept final payment until the customer was completely happy. We liked that, and he lived up to his promise. We didn't pay him a dime up front. We only paid when he was done, and we were completely satisfied. He dressed comfortably, shorts and cut off shirt, kind of looks like an Eagles football player, even has Eagles tattoos but this fellow is a real gentleman. Very easy to talk to, very good listener and he wants to make his customers happy. I think he has been painting for 28 years. When I stopped into Sherwin Williams in Fairfax, Wilmington, De 19803, to take care of the paint bill, a very interesting thing happened. Two women on duty, Heather and Laura, started talking about how reliable Steve is, how his customers love him, and he is constantly getting repeat business from homeowners and businesses alike. It just sort of came out in casual unplanned conversation, but it sure was a strong endorsement, and it made me feel like I had made a great choice. Steve did a fantastic job. The quality of his work is outstanding. We have already referred him to neighbors and have already signed him up for another property. We highly recommend him. He thanked us for picking him in kind of an old fashioned work ethic "thank you" and we appreciated it.
