I called them and emailed them repeatedly. They came out, didn't even get on a ladder or go in the attic. They just looked at a water stain on my ceiling and pronounced they knew what the problem was. They gave me an estimate and were supposed to schedule the service. Weeks go by, nothing. I email. I call. Repeatedly. Nothing for literally months.

It went great, the workers were very courteous, prompt and made sure they cleaned everything up for the day before leaving, we had some interruptions because they were dividing their time between jobs and helping in the rebuilding of Hurriane Sandi devasted areas. They explained and we understood. The most important part of the work was done within 3 days.

The experience was great, their receptionist was very helpful, courteous and their worker did a great job. Even in the very cold weather. Would surely use again and recommend.
Description of Work: I noticed the gutters in the back of my house, formed ice dams. I requested someone come out a worker did and cleared ice away, but was told warmer weather was the only thing that would really help. Also cleared some of the front too, he repaired a downspout on the side of my house.

They were very nice. The guy who was originally supposed to come out died. I had called to follow up because I hadn't heard anything from him and it was because he had died. As soon as they understood that it had fallen through, they immediately got somebody out to fix it. They were very responsive and helpful. They came on a weekend to do an estimate. They were the only people that I could get to give me a price. I don't know about the quality because it is on the roof.

The work went fine and was done in a few hours. I did notice in the attic that a few of the nails securing the ridge vent to the roof slightly missed the rafters and slpit out the wood a little. This however cannot be seen from on top of the roof when installing. Overall the work was well done
Description of Work: In my last review in December 2012 the work had not been done yet. They repaired a ridge vent leak on my roof and replaced the ridge vent. My review from December 2012 addressed all items but the work, which had not been done yet. The work done was excellent and the roof has not leaked since. They also gave me a replacement roof estimate which I am considering next spring.

I asked this company to help assess the ventilation needs on my cape cod home where the attic was converted to half living space (shed dormer). The remaining attic (the area behind the knee-wall) was never properly ventilated. I was concerned about roof deck rotting due to high humidity and concerned about wasted heating/cooling energies since the knee wall space had ZERO insulation. The company responded promptly, scheduled my meeting with the project manager, project manager was on time (Brian). Brian was an excellent consultant. He didn't sell me on one shingle vs. another, but actually listened to my concerns and areas of interest and provided valuable insight into things his company would do and things they would not do (where I'd need to find a General Contractor to complete the job). He saved me significant time by showing up to my house 1 hour before I even got home, got up on my roof, and performed his own measurement and analysis of the roof's quality before I even saw him to explain my needs. Where the company and Brian have fallen short is that I asked Brian to produce 2 project assessments: 1) Replace the entire Roof and address the closed up soffits 2) Repair the areas he identified as needing work (my flat shed dormer was not done properly and was prone to water damage at the ends due to blowback because of its low slope. It should have been done with that rubber decking, not just flat rolls of shingles). In both estimates I also asked him to call out the interior work that his company would not do regarding adding insulation once the soffits were opened up and the ridgeline passively vented. Brian never produced the documents/assessments I asked for. I emailed the company 1 week after contact for a followup. No response. I called the company. Got a nice lady who said "Brian is aware you are waiting and will deliver the estimates asap". I waited another week. Called again. This time, got put in touch with Brian on his cell phone. Brian admitted he'd been busy and was going to do them ASAP. It's now 1 month after our initial visit. I have stopped following up (3 attempts after 2 weeks....there must be some other company hungry for work as this one is not.) Shame too because I really felt Brian was a fantasic non-sales guy, with years experience, no baloney attitude. I would have liked to work with him, but now, I can't trust that any issues discovered would be addressed given I can't even get some estimates.

This company, unlike the previous Angie's List contractor I called, was very responsive to my call and were out the same day with an estimate. I immediately accepted the estimate and work was promised the following week. Workers did show up the following week but unfortunately rain interrupted that date's installation and the workers had to quit before they started the job. They promised to return the next day. After nobody showed up for a week, I called and was advised that crew was on vacation but now that they realized my job had been dropped, another crew would be out that week. Another crew did show up at the end of the week and did a very thorough job on the roof repairs. The crew chief, Rudy, was very easy to work with and explained what he had fixed and clearly wanted to be sure I was 100% satisfied, which I was. Unfortunately, he knew nothing about the gutter replacement that was part of the job and did not have the supplies to do that job. I called the company again and was informed that job had been subcontracted and they were not sure when that sub would show up. They also asked if I was sure I still wanted that job done because Rudy thought my gutter problem could be solved with flashing rather than a whole gutter job. I agreed to postpone the gutter job until the contractor could revisit the job and decide if the flashing alone would fix the problem. The next day the gutter subcontractor showed up ready to do the job. I decided to get the gutter job done in an effort to resolve the problem. Yesterday (two weeks after the gutter job) the company called me to ask if the gutter sub had ever shown up. I told them they had been here and did a good job as far as I could tell. They asked if the gutter leak problem had been fixed and I told them there had not been enough rain to tell but my hose test looked promising. The company apologized that they had to call me to find out what the status of the job was. Apparently having this job split between two crews plus a gutter subcontractor, and during vacation time there had led to confusion about who was doing what and what was being done. In any case, the job got done, everybody I spoke with was very helpful and professional and the price was OK. They obviously had a heck of time coordinating this pretty simple job for some reason but I went away feeling they were just human and were really trying to do their best for me during a period of staffing problems.
Description of Work: Replaced missing shingles blown off in storm. Checked entire roof for loose shingles and repaired those that were loose. Replaced gutter and downspouts in areas where previous roofer had not properly installed same.

There was a leak in my roof. They came out multiple times trying to find the leak and repair it. However, they were not successful. They wanted to charge me $1000.00 for a roof coating. In the long run I found out even that would not have helped. I found out by another company the leak was coming in from my lower roof that needed flashing. It seemed as if they changed hands and the last guy to came out didn't strike me the right way.

Very chummy and slick sales man, fun to talk with. But I never received an estimate. I called to explain that I had not received an estimate, and had already heard from the other five roofers. Still no estimate forthcoming. Called again and left a message. No call back, no estimate, no response.

Can't say enough about this company! My son had several leaks in the roof of the house he purchased just last year. We requested an assessment of the roof. Brian gave a fair assessment of it's condition and gave a competitive price. He also made a few recommendations to help the condition of the house, which did not involve using All American's services (i.e.buying attic stair insulation to cut down on heat/coolness loss). Because the leaks were active, he was able to schedule the job almost immediately. He contacted me by text to let me know exactly when his crew would be there and was extremely punctual. His crew worked part of Thursday and literally, all day Saturday (with a rain interruption) to finish the job. The clean up was extremely good and Brian even came back the following Monday to be sure all the nails and debris were cleaned up. He has subsequently dropped off the partial bundle of unused shingles and a full bundle in case a repair would be needed in the future. Brian was extremely easy to work with. He was very accessible and answered all my questions in an easy to understand way. He is extremely personable also. Every major job done on a house should be this easy!

This experience was a pleasure from beginning to end. All American Roofing responded quickly, set up a convenient time for Karl to come and see the problem with the old skylight that was leaking. I was impressed with his ability to listen to our concerns and to explain his thoughts on the solution. We purchased two skylights in order to avoid problems with the older one later on and so they would match. We added light filtering shades (they call them blinds) which we had always thought about getting but didn't see how they would be able to work remotely. The solar power strip in the Velux window was the answer and was also eligible for the Residential Energy Property credit on our tax return. Not only was the work done at the time Karl predicted the windows would be ready, it was done quickly and the clean up was wonderful. Everything was explained to us and Karl even reminded us that we can get an energy credit for them. Karl put the Velux product labels on the product brochure which he told us to keep in the provided folder for our records. We were impressed with the quality of the work done and the respect shown for our property.

Brian was easy to wrok with. He took care of everything and delivered on what he said he would do. His crew was great in everyway. In a big job such as roof replacement, as a home owner you can only see so much but from carefule observation, I do not have any reason to doubt that AAR has done a great job. I could not be more satisfied.

After researching Angie's List and other sources I sent an email request for a proposal to All American Roofing. Response was very fast and one of their project managers came by the house to measure the roof and understand the full scope of the project. The project manager returned a few days later with several product brochures so we could select the shingle type and color as well as understand the other materials they proposed. A proposal for the work was sent a few days later. They also provided a very long list of houses in the area that they'd replaced with the same shingle we wanted (with a wide range of colors) so we could actually see their work and what the various colors looked like in actual installations. I approved the proposal and sent it to the project manager via email. So far the response we'd received was fabulous but it now took a different turn; over 2 weeks went by without a reply and I started to think I'd send the approved proposal back to the wrong email address. I send the project manager an email asking him to confirm he'd received it, no response. So I called their office and was given immediate response and an apology. I was told they were far behind in getting their jobs done (largely due to the heavy rain we'd received for over a month). A day or two after this phone call I got an email from the project manager telling me they'd be by to start the work on Monday of next week (4 days later). I contacted the project manager who told me the name of the foreman who would oversee the work and the expected time of their arrival. On Monday they showed up just as promised, and at the time given me. The crew immediately got on the roof and started to remove the shingles after draping tarps over the side of the house to protect it from falling debris. I'd asked them to replace warped sheathing and I had personally estimated they'd replace somewhere between 50 and 80 sheets. As the roofing was removed it was obvious that all of the sheathing needed to be replaced. The foreman asked me to join him on the roof so he could show me the problem. The project manager was called and he came over within 30 minutes. They estimated it would take 150 sheets to replace every existing sheet of plywood. The project manger got on the phone immediately and got a price for this larger quantity of sheathing. I didn't receive an altered written proposal and was told it would cost about $4000 to replace all of the sheathing. By the time everything was done they'd used 170 sheets so the estimated price was low. The work they did was amazing. What was expected to take 2 days took almost 2 weeks. The first week it rained all but one day, yet the crew showed up every morning and did whatever work they could. The following week it didn't rain but it was extremely hot, close to 100 degrees every day. I was amazed they were working in such heat. They would take a break in the hot part of the day and work later in the evening. My wife provided cold bottled water for them, although they did bring their own (ours was colder). The foreman was very good, kept me informed and kept his promises. The work they did is superb! Roof looks absolutely fabulous. The crew was courteous and attentive to our needs. They did not clean up everything every day but did make sure there were no nails left on the driveway, lawn, sidewalks. The little they'd left at the end of each day was not an issue to us. At the end of the project they cleaned up everything and left the place in great shape. The only thing that could have gone better was their response to my approved proposal. I understand they were way behind in their jobs, I didn't need the roof replaced asap, could have waited a little longer before they did the work, just would have liked a response to the proposal a little earlier. Regarding the change in scope, I should have gotten a written proposal. I believe they responded correctly but I don't know if I overpaid for the full sheathing replacement.
Description of Work: Replaced the entire roof including sheathing (170 sheets of 4' x 8'), underlayment, shingles. Also replaced gutters, three gable vents, and three bathroom exhaust vents.
