Keith Smith Plumbing sent one of their installers to look at the job and provide estimate. The same installer returned later that week with a helper to do the install. They did not put down plastic or cover or remove their shoes and they tracked mud all over the carpet. They were very nice, polite friendly gentlemen who were both elderly and had trouble carrying the hot water heater upstairs. Yes, it is on the second floor which is dificult but he had accessed the job a few days before and if he did not think he was up to the job he should not have accepted it. They banged up the walls so that I had to use touch up paint on at least seven spots. They removed the drip pan under my old hot water heater and threw it away saying that it would not fit and that we did not need one. That might be true. They also did not reinstall the expansion tank which was on the old one saying that it would be too dificult and we didn't need it. That also may or may not be true; we have had different opinions. After they left we noticed that they left standing water on the floor next to the water heater which we cleaned up ourselves within minutes after they left. Lowes called the next day to follow up and I told them about the mud on the carpet and scraped walls. We were willing to take care of that ourselves however, I saw water spots on the ceiling where they left the standing water. A drywaller had to fix it which took several weeks because he had to make several trips and he came by when he could between jobs. All in all, we purchased the water heater on January 10th and the final painting was done on February 11th. It was a long time for it all to be settled. Lowes was responsive and responsible as was the drywaller athough he had to come by at least six times which was very disruptive since we both work from home. I would never use or recommend Keith Smith Plumbing. They could not have been less professional with not protecting the carpet, scuffing the walls and of course leaving standing water and causing damage that took weeks of inconvenience. We should have used Megee Plumbing and avoided all the trouble.
