Jim Stephens was great! We contacted him late at night and he was here the next day. He thought it was the garbage disposal and so it was. He carries them on his truck so there was no delay! He ran the disposal, faucet and dishwasher to ensure all lines were secure. Jim is responsive, efficient, clean working, affordable and friendly! Thank you Jim!

Came home late from work one evening and discovered that sewage ejector pump had not been working and sewage water accumulating in the pit. Called 3 plumbers via Angie’s List who had 24/7 service. First guy gave me $1,000 quote by phone, and he would not have been able to fix for at least 3 days. Jim picked up right away, listened to my description of the problem, quoted me at $600-$700 and scheduled me right away for the next morning. He arrived on time with a new pump, surveyed the issue and got right to work removing the old pump and installing the new one. He was personable, knowledgeable and it only took a couple of hours. Would definitely call Jim again if other plumbing issues.

Jim clearly and sensibly answered questions about the issues with my old toilet, then gave me prices and ranges of new ones that he would recommend. He also replaced the sump pumps that I had with new ones of the same kind, which is critical because I am on a street that is prone to flooding and the pumps run every day. He was prompt and pleasant to deal with, and his total price on the pumps was nearly $150 less than another price I was quoted. He likes to talk if someone is nearby, but does exactly what he says he will do and it is quality work so I would not hesitate to go to another room if not feeling conversational!

After leaving a message on Angie's List on Saturday, Jim Stephens responded within an hour or so. After exchanging information, he volunteered to make a service call the next day Sunday. Because of my 5-day work week, this was a big relief. On Sunday, he called, as agreed, and asked if he could be at my house in a few minutes. As agreed, he arrived promptly. He diagnosed the problems and, at my request, provided details for solution fix. He had the part in his van and explained how the fix would be done and how it would work. He answered questions and explained clearly and thoroughly. Before beginning the work, he gave me an estimate, which I agreed to. After the work, his stated charge was no more than what his estimate had been. In addition to providing a high-quality solution, he provided, at my request, education about a related issue - the exterior drain for the sump pump. He thoroughly explained how the exterior drain could be extended away from the house to mitigate the fact that the water flow was eroding the soil near the foundation. When Jim left, I was a completely happy customer. I knew that 1) it was not necessary to replace the sump pump and 2) I had the knowledge, going forward, to know how to routinely check and maintain the sump pump functionality. Without hesitation, I can honestly say I will be calling JM Stephens for all my plumbing issues in the future.

Excellent! This is the way Angie's List is supposed to work. Sent out a request for estimate (work is described as above) through Angie's List to JM Stephens Plumbing and Heating on Thursday, August 23. I think it was less than an hour that Jim got back to me. He sent a very reasonable estimate, so we called and set up a time for the next day (Friday) - as there happened to be a time slot convenient for both of us. Everything from contacting Jim to getting an estimate to setting a time and finally, completely the job in expert fashion was all done within 24 hours!! I can see why he has high ratings. Very, very good on communication (actually, as a long time Angie's List subscriber, I think this is a record time for me), knows his craft, reasonable cost (estimate was spot on, too), professional and very courteous. Would not hesitate to use him again.

Jim and his assistant were very polite, prompt, & knowledgeable. While they were here, they agreed to do a faucet installation for an additional $100. There was a small issue with the faucet and they returned the next day to fix it.

Excellent! Jim and his crew did outstanding work. It is clear to see that Jim has been in the industry for over 40 years as his level of knowledge and professionalism is second to none. He clearly cares about his customers and is invested in making sure your issues are addressed and corrected the first time.

Mr. Stephens completed arrived on time, completed all services efficiently and satisfactorily, and the price was fair. You can’t ask for much more than that.

We had a leaking issue from the garbage disposal, so we called this highly-rated company in the neighborhood. Although the dripping comes from the joint between the sink and the disposal, Jim insisted we should replace the disposal because it is old. After the installation of a new garbage disposal, the sink water suddenly stopped draining. Jim consistently refused that his fix is a source of the water drain issue, and the clogging may be due to the old pipe. We did not have any issues with water draining for a year, but he did not agree because he did not see how the sink drained before the fix. He called our claim as a “moot point” and instead proposed to replace the water pipe or call a drain cleaning company, both of which would cost additional $350 or more. After a while the water started to drain properly (nobody did anything), but he kept saying he wasted his time.

Jim came over the same as I called to estimate the job, and stuck by the price. This was a more complex project than a standard toilet, due to the upflush requirements ,but Jim worked diligently and got it installed and operational in a single day. While there, he also fixed another issue at an extremely reasonable price. He even called a few days later just to make sure everything was ok. Unlike other firms I have dealt with you are not paying for a sales staff, ads, etc... when you call you simply talk to Jim- and he was very enjoyable to work with.

Excellent work at a good price. Jim fit us into his schedule. The work was done well and quickly. It was a pleasure doing business with Jim and we definitely will do so in the future.

Showed up for the job on time. Very professional and helpful from start to finish. Took time to walk me through the process so I was aware and comfortable with work being performed. Took time and care to ensure work area was clean. Would certainly use again if needed and I've already recommended to friends.

I love working with Jim. Prior to coming out and charging me, he tried walking me through fixing it over the phone. This was on his time at 8pm. Then he was out promptly the next day to fix it.

The project was completed seamlessly and Jim and his helpers were competent, hard-working and didn't mind explaining what was going on every step of the way! His years of experience are evident, and make him a great diagnostician and problem-solver. He even went out to buy stone to line the bottom of the trench dug outside of the house to insure that the new pipe would be stabilized underneath! There were a number of things that could have been complications (like tree roots, and breaks in the pipes going to the septic tank), but it was clear to me that Jim would be able to address them, if they did surface. This was the kind of thing that makes a homeowner very nervous, so I was so relieved that I had Jim do this work. Experienced, competent, honorable, and a really nice guy! So glad that I won't have to conduct searches for a plumber in the future!

This is why I really like working with Jim. First of all, he took a late evening phone call from me, when I was really just expecting to get voicemail. Prior to scheduling, he actually suggested a way to see if I can fix the disposal on my own and walked me through what to do over the phone. Unfortunately, whatever was stuck in there (looked like a metal object), was really stuck and would not budge. Jim came the next day and installed a new garbage disposal for a very fair price.

Simply put...Jim is an outstanding plumber who does excellent work. He is a master plumber and master pipe fitter with years of experience; who also stays current on new products and techniques. Jim took the time to explain every facet of the process and tolerated my endless questions inquiring as to how I could complete some of the smaller projects in the future. The work was done professionally, completed quickly, and Jim resolved a drain issue that could not be addressed by another plumber. He took extra steps to cover our flooring and safeguard other property from damage. The work sites were also left very clean. Jim will be used exclusively in the future for all of my plumbing and related projects. Thanks for an OUTSTANDING job!

It was a difficult job with the location of the leak. They did a great job getting it done. The process was explained and all questions answered.

Wonderful work. JM Stephens is owner of business. He came out to give estimate. His estimate was so much better than the other one that we received, that I asked him to do the work right then. He agreed and 1 hour later work was done. JM even took a look at dishwasher problem that I had for no extra charge. I told him that I was an Angie's List member and he lead me to the $25 new customer coupon that he had.
