Wertz told us that could do "all of the required work" and that it was all included in their quote. We even asked before giving our deposit if this included the necessary electrical and gas work and were told YES. Day came to install fireplace and they informed us that they don't do gas work or electrical work. Installation had to be delayed several weeks until this could be done. They claim to have "cut us a break" on the gas line install, but we later found out that we could have hired someone for 1/2 the cost that Wertz charged. They are not responsive to phone calls or emails. WORST should be how the name of the company is pronounced!
Description of Work: Had a wood burning fireplace converted to gas.

They did a quality job. I called about some problems and they checked the work after they were done and there were some concerns I had and so they came and helped me fix those. They did a pretty good job. The guy I was working with had several other jobs he had to go check so the guy he left in charge doing the chimney was the mellow guy and he probably could have been a little more thorough on his check before he finished up because there were some areas that he needed to caulk. It was just a little more attention to the final detail.
Description of Work: Wertz & Co. re-flushed my chimney which wasn't done by the builder and so it was leaking and they had to rebuild a crown on the chimney.

Installation had to be re-scheduled for several weeks later. My husband ended up running the electric line, and Wertz hired another contractor to run the gas line (at an additional cost to us). If it weren't for the fact that all of the materials were already on site, we would have cancelled the contract entirely and gone with someone else. I will say that the gentleman who did the actual install of the fireplace (Dave) was very polite and apologetic, but his supervisor, Bob, was not.
Description of Work: Went to Wertz to have our woodburning fireplace converted to gas. Was given a price in August - went to the office in person to ask some questions and clarify some things that were not specified on the contract. Was told that the price included EVERYTHING, including gas and electric lines run (which is what we asked about in person prior to signing contract). Set up a date for install, and on that date was told by Wertz that "contract didn't include gas or electric lines so now we need to increase the price". Have heard from others now that they did the same thing to them

Wertz came in and did a beautiful job. It took a couple of days longer than anticipated but that was not a problem for us. The end product is a smooth system of walkways with beautiful curves and flat transitions to entrance steps, work shop patio and carport. We found Wertz tried very hard to make sure we were completely satisfied with all aspects of their work. The clean up afterwards was well done.
Description of Work: Wertz completely re-did the brick walkways in the rear of my house. The original walkways were nothing more than brick laided in dirt and had shifted over the years, sunk in places, heaved in others and were generally unsafe and unsightly. Wertz proposed removing all walkways, putting down a proper based, re-installing the original brick but with new pavers on the outside edges.

The crew showed up timely to perform what was to be just a cleaning of my furnace flue. I suspected that the flue had never been cleaned, though the house is 43 years old (I've had it a year now). They found a very dirty flue blocked by a dead bird, a severe loss of mortar and some slight bends due to the house settling. Their recommendation was to install a new stainless steel liner, which I suspected was needed before I called them. They offered to just clean the flue, saving the cost of the liner, but warned me I would then need to carefully monitor CO2 levels in the house. I went with the liner. They were able to get the new liner and install it very timely. This was important because the weather was getting chilly and I couldn't turn on my furnace until the job was completed. Throughout their work, they were very courteous, friendly and professional.
Description of Work: Cleaned chimney, cleared obstruction, installed new liner.
