Description of Work: A/C check up and service. He was very knowledgeable and happy to explain what he was doing and checking and eager to recommend money savers and things to be on the lookout for. Most important to me, there was no up-selling going on.

Description of Work: replaced a gas furnace and A/C unit...arrived on time; worked hard and did a good job....when i called about the A/C unit making too much noise they sent out a tech who checked it and said not to hesitate if anything else went wrong ....the only negative -they were a bit messy but nothing major....

Description of Work: Serviced air conditioning unit and cleaned filters. Arrived promptly. Very efficient; approx 45 minutes to perform service. Gave a brief explanation of the other services provided by the company but did not belabour the point.

Description of Work: My appointment was between 1 and 3. The technicians arrived a little before 1:30. $39 of the cost was for a 22-point preventative tune up inspection of my AC unit (regularly $69). During the inspection, the technicians found that the dual capacitator on my unit needed to be replaced. They explained to me exactly what that meant (I'm not very house savvy) and the cost to replace it was regularly $198 but because they were already there it would be $97. I said sure thing. They were done quickly with the service. All in all the visit from beginning to end was about 45 minutes. Not bad. They were very respectful to wear bootie covers when they came into the house. I would use Gold Star again and recommend them to friends.

Description of Work: Removed an old, poorly functioning gas water heater and replaced it with a quiet, efficient unit. Arrived right on time, performed exactly the service they quoted, were clean and professional in all aspects. I will use again in the future.

Description of Work: Gold Star services installed a new heat pump, gas furnace, whole house humidifier, booster fan, a vent return for the basement and water heater. I got six estimates and Gold Star was the lowest price, for more work than the others and completed all the work in one day. The new equipment made a my house much more comfortable, even in this cold winter. The salesman offered great advice to fix my problems at a minimal upcharge. I did a lot of research and education before I picked a contractor and feel confidant I made the right choice. My other estimates were between $1,000 and $10,000 higher. If I didn't use due diligence I could have been ripped off by a an well known competitor. I saw an ad in the newspaper for Gold Star and am very lucky I did.

Description of Work: Replaced our 17 year old heat pump with a complete new Trane heat pump. |Arrived on time and installation went in without any problems.

Description of Work: They did an ok job with the install of the furnace and air conditioner, but did need to come back several times to fix minor mistakes caused from rushing through the install to complete it in one day.

Description of Work: Found a coupon to have a humidifier installed, around $450. Punctual, on time and professional so also got a maintenance contract. Had a minor disaster with a pump that I should have replaced at the same time and got water in the basement, they were here early the same day and took care of it. Have also been impressed with their maintenance and came out to do an estimate for me. They have been responsive and reasonably priced for everything I have needed.

Description of Work: They were right on the target with their estimate for replacement a/c and heating unit, and the work was done in a workmanship and timely manner. The unit has run great all summer and winter. We are quite happy.

Description of Work: Cleaned oil hot water ignition and replaced control box. Service person was pleasant enough but when I was conflicted about the wisdom of repairing the oil system verses going back to electric, I felt he was not anxious to commit to an opinion, in part I suspect,because my Christmas tree may have hampered access to electrical panel. He said perhaps my house wasn't wired for service for electrical water heater. I didn't push it but upon reflection of course it was, the original water heater was electric. It wasn't substandard service but in retrospect, he could have been more helpful. I think had it not been the holiday, my experience would have been a little different.
