Fantastic experience. Their estimator was running 10 minutes late and called ahead of time to let me know. He performed a thorough survey of our house and the leaking area. After careful consideration, he recommended 3 or 4 fixes that I could do to eliminate the leak. I'm an engineer, so I could see that his recommendations were well thought out and logical. If these options don't work, we'll then get them back in for a follow up.

Shortly after the original contact we were visited by a representative to view the jobs and make proposals. Within a day we received an estimate for the agreed upon work. The estimate was considered fair and well below other proposals. The work was scheduled to be completed within days. A total of three days was estimated for completion and this estimate was met in spite of difficult working conditions (e.g. the crawl space accessibility was limited requiring much manual labor to remove debris and bring in materials - there is no basement door to the outside) The quality of the work was excellent. Workers were sensitive to cleanliness while passing through the house. The worksite was left clean and orderly. A wall which was partially removed for the project was replaced. Overall the project was completed successfully at a reasonable cost
Description of Work: Installed a new French drain system along one basement wall including a window well drain. Also installed a French drain system for a water-susceptible 4 ft. crawl-space. Work required the installation of a new electrical circuit for the new Sump pump. The overhead insulation in the crawl space was removed and replaced with a higher R value material.

The installation of the backup sump pump follows the work Basement Pros performed for me in May, 2014.(Angies List review on-line). The job was to install a french drain and sump pump in the basement. As my review of 14 May, 2014 indicates, I was 100% satisfied with the contractor and the work performed. I contracted Basement Pros again, this time to install a Zoeller Battery Backup Sump Pump System. Again, I was happy to deal with Karen in the office, and Donny on the installation. Donny showed up like clockwork Saturday morning. He had the system installed exactly in the length of time Karen had said it would take him. I threw them a curve ball by asking to have the discharge line from the pump/well in the basement redirected from it's original placement outside. There was no problem, or charge, with the request. However, as with just about everything else that is done around here, it ended up being more work than I had hoped. Donny then took his time, thought it through, and did a top-notch job! Once again, at No additional charge. Basement Pros is a First Class firm. They are well priced, very friendly, and provide great service. If anyone reading this is in the market for this type work on their home, look no further. I am completely confident in recommending Basement Pros, in all aspects. Peace! Jack Hetherton

The provider met with use for close to an hour and went through all of our questions. The manager even had the owner come out to check things and make sure we were being quoted the correct thing and that there would be no surprises. When the time came for the crew to do the work, they showed up every day right on time and besides the obvious noise of the work being done downstairs, we were never bothered. they cleaned up after themselves and did exactly what they had promise. everything has been great so far and we are very happy with what was done. They were also the least expensive quote that we had received. We would recommend them in a heartbeat.

Pete came out to give my husband an estimate, and we were immediately impressed by his professionalism and the complete package of services his company offered. While the price was not the most economical compared with others, we felt the most comfortable with this company's experience and plan for fixing our problems which made it worth it to us. They were able to mobilize quickly once we confirmed our desire to use their company. People were responsive and professional and handled any questions or issues immediately for us. They adjusted the price lower when it was discovered that some plans would not be needed or able to be completed. They knew how important this job was for my husband's health, and I feel like they really did an excellent job for us in a space that was difficult. I would highly recommend them for mold remediation and waterproofing and you can't beat a lifetime transferable warranty.

Pete was really nice. He is a former soldier in the military and appreicates the service of veterans of the military. He offer to fix two cracks with carbon fiber straps. From my research, straps are used to stop cracks from cracking when the wall is caving in.The cracks are vertical--not horizontal (as would be if the wall was caving in.) My pour concrete wall is solid. The cracks were caused by shrinkage of the concrete , rotted window, and bad drainage from the roof drain pipe--all fixed. Also, Pete was going to apply the straps over the crack. Usually, again from doing my own research, straps go from the top of the wall to the bottom to stop horizontal cracks from getting bigger. I don't want to just cover the crack. Water can gather behind the strap if the crack isn't sealed properly. That's why urethane injection was right for me. I went with another company who offered that method and a lifetime warranty. Conduct your own research to see which process is best for you.

Wow, wish every company was this honest and thoughtful. I called because I have a leak in the corners of my basement and I wanted a quote to fix that. I was worried it would cost thousands. The woman asked if my downspouts were located in those corners (they are). She advised me that all I need are extensions to make sure the water is flowing far from the house and that should fix the problem for under $40. Really refreshing to know a company would be honest instead of coming out and up charging me for a job I can obviously handle myself.

The contractors were great. They ensured that nothing was damaged in our house while doing the work. We have had no issue with further water since they came out. We had a small issue with a PVC pipe which turned out not to be something that they had installed, but they fixed it free of charge since they had come back out to look at the issue. Very happy with them!

I initially met with Pete to get a quote on the solutions for our basement. He was very, very thorough and likable. In fact, in his opinion we didn?t need to do all the work we had done to waterproof our basement, but we choose to go above and beyond for future needs. Compared to several other companies, this was a very honest evaluation. I had a few more questions after our meeting and Pete was always responsive on his mobile or through text. The crew?s start date was pushed back a day due to heavy snows, but they still completed the job in two days despite having to knock out the end of it on a Saturday. Donny led the crew, and did most of the heavy work. He clearly had a lot of experience and was a really nice guy. Same can be said for the rest of the crew as well ? friendly and courteous of the house. I was able to stop down whenever I liked to chat and check out the work. Donny was happy to go over where they were in the process and inform me what was upcoming. So, how?d the work turn out? To sum it up, it turned out great. The system got it?s first test not even a week after they completed the job when the temperatures rose and the 20?-36? of snow we had began to melt. The wells took on water and drained to the system as expected. The pump is incredibly quiet and we had no idea it was running until we spotted signs outside that the pump had quietly been discharging water all along. Now, for clarification, I gave a ?B? for Quality for just a few smaller, but notable, reasons. First, how Pete explained the cracks would be filled (chiseled out like a ?V? and filled with epoxy) was not quite as thorough as how they actually were (epoxying directly on top of the cracks). Second, it was my understanding the discharge pipe would come out of the foundation, elbow into the ground and run, buried under the mulch and lawn, to the discharge point. Instead, the pipe exits three feet from the house (an acceptable distance), but directly on to our mulch bed. This is how we discovered it was working, as the mulch was pushed into the lawn as the water was expelled. Granted, there was a significant amount of snow on the ground, as mentioned. However, Donny led me to believe that burying the pipe was never part of the plan. Miscommunication between Pete and I, or him and the crew, I?m not sure? Either way, it?s something I will fix myself in the spring. Thirdly, the original plan was to put durawall panels (a vapor barrier, essentially) over all epoxy'd cracks, though the crew covered only the ones that would be on the "finished" side of the basement someday. And lastly, the Mold Exterm spray was nearly an afterthought to the point where I felt as though I needed to constantly mention it to make sure it wasn?t forgotten. All of these things helped to add up to a perceived value on paper which convinced us to spend the extra $300 over our lowest quote to go with Basement Pros. In hindsight, the above mentioned points were perhaps not quite what I expected, so for that I dropped to a B. Ultimately, dealing with Basement Pros was a great experience. You are dealing with an honest group of guys who know what they are doing. And it's always the same crew since they do not sub contract, which we felt was another plus. We trusted that we would be in good hands, and I?m confident we are. I'd absolutely recommend Basement Pros to anyone in need of basement waterproofing.
Description of Work: Installed a sub floor drainage system (french drain) and sump pump, tapped and plumbed four window wells into the drainage system, filled 5 cracks with epoxy, installed durawall panels over some of the filled cracks and sprayed āmold extermā on above floor joists to kill any mold.

I called Basement Pros when my husband and I had a devastating flood. We found out that we had an underground stream and we had no idea where to begin. We had talked with several plumbers and waterproofers and no one could give us a straight answer. As soon as I called Basement Pros, I knew I had made a great choice. They gave me an appointment right away and began the work the day after they came out to assess the issue. Not only were they punctual, professional, and hard working, but they were kind as well. They understood that we were really struggling with getting our house back and they provided us with different alternatives to meet our needs. Basement Pros finished the job ahead of schedule and left no mess behind (and they were even pouring cement!). They called when they needed to ask permission to do something and explained everything in detail. They didn't mind when we were looking at the work they were doing and helped us understand our problem much better. Above all, they resolved our issue and helped us with recommendations for finishing the floors and walls. We can now sleep at night without worrying about having 3 feet of water in our basement.
Description of Work: Basement Pros recently did waterproofing work in our basement including installing a 3rd sump pump, installing better pumps with battery back ups, mold and mildew treatment, and they installed a system underneath our floor designed to prevent water from coming into the basement. They did an amazing job, see below for all of the details.

Pete came out to the house only 2 days after I called. He is very friendly, honest and he really knows his stuff. He not only checked out the issue that I called about, but also looked at the rest of the basement to make sure there aren't any other issues. He recommended a fix for the issue and gave me a quote, but was honest and said that it is not urgent and it may never be. He didn't make it out to be a huge issue just to get our money because he does not get commission for sales. He was very informative and answered all of my questions. He really helped me to understand what's happening and now I feel much better about it. I would definitely recommend this company.

Donnie was great, he kept me aware each step they were taking. The crew worked quickly and even had the dumpster delivered few days early so I could dispose of some things. I was very pleased with the job that was done. I look forward to any of the rains now. I also like that they sprayed any mold that was found. I can tell the difference my basement no longer has that damp moldy smell it used to. I really like the Durawalls to they look nice. We were confused and didn't know who to trust. I joined Angie's List and chose Basement Pros. Karen was great and sent Pete, Sales rep right away. We felt comfortable that we finally found an honest company. His engineering background showed he knew basement problems; found our drains didn't slope enough. He said we only had to do 2/3 of basement with 1 sump. The other area was dry and didn't need any corrections. Their price was $6,315. That included killing mold and lining walls with dura wall. The team, led by Donnie were on time, efficient, customer service focused. They had to go through the garage and kitchen due to rain. They covered everything, never spilled a drop carrying buckets of dirt, stones, etc. Our garage was spotless, they mixed the cement there. Donnie was great and led a great crew. I was shocked to see our old drain was in pieces and never worked. He even came back to add some dura wall pieces that were ordered. Our basement is clean, mold free & no longer smells.
Description of Work: Our basement had this problem for at least 20 years. We used 2 dehumidifiers to help but it got worse. You couldn't open our basement door without getting a big dose of mildew. Our ain't end cinder block walls looked like the photos they use in advertisements. Basement Pros corrected a very bad excess moisture and mold problem in our unfinished basement. A new French drain and sump pump were installed. Treated with Mold Exterm to kill and prevent mold. Also, lined cinder lock walls with Dura Wall panels. They also gave advice about some exterior corrections that would help. Before I found them on Angie's List I searched the web, BBB and other sites. The first company (4*) was very aggressive trying to scare us that we were in a dangerous situation and quoted $22,000 to install French drain with two sump pumps. The next company quoted $11,500 for the same job. Next companies said to just fix exterior drainage. Last wanted to seal exterior walls and do interior $12,000.

I am completely satisfied and happy with the services provided by Basement Pros, their staff and their pricing. I would totally recommend them to anyone without hesitation. I am going to redo my basement in the New Castle house in the near future and I will absolutey use them again. They really care about their customers, which is almost unheard of in this day and age.
Description of Work: I am a repete customer. I had Basement Pros put a moisture barrier under my house at the beach about 2 years ago because the house was always cold, damp and had a funny smell. They were very efficient , fast and had the job done in one day. I was completely happy with their work. Last year 10/29, we were victums of Hurricane Sandy. We had 37 inches of water on the property. I again called Basement Pros to do the inspection of the foundation and the general cleanup of the mess left by the storm. The vapor barrier they installed the pervious year actually saved by house. It filled up like a water balloon and protected the house in such a way that it actually prevented water from getting in. When I called Pete, they came right away, which was a miracle because there was such a demand on the cleanup crews after the storm. They cleaned the bag, replaced all the insulation under the house and checked the foundation for stability. They pumped out the water and applied a mold treatment. Water got into my heating duct system and they sprayed that as well. Recently, I noticed some mold growing and gave Pete a call. He immediately had his crew come down the beach, about 80 miles, and respray for the mold situation. I am very allergic and was getting sick. I understand that the mold treatment is pretty expensive, but they did not charge me a dime. Not even gas money. They even sprayed in the ducts and did my shop as well. They also replaced the door to the craw space at no charge.

I am highly satisfied with Basement Pros quality of work and service to customers. I've been living in my house for 10 years, and now want to put it on the market for sale. But first I wanted to fix the water problem in the basement. The house is about 90 years old, and there was always some water seeping out from couple places where the walls meet the floor; especially this past summer, when it rained so much. This was something that I could live with myself, but before I sell the house to someone else, I want to get it fixed. I had estimates from three different companies. The first one (not Basement Pro) seems knowledgeable too, but their price is a lot higher and also for some reason I don't know if I can fully trust the person. The second company is Basement Pro. Pete the inspector recommended a similar solution (as the first company) but his price is much lower. Also, through our conversation, it appears to me that Pete and Basement Pro always want to treat their customers right (which I find out later is absolutely true). The third company used high-pressure sales tactics which I totally dislike (on the other hand talking to Pete was just like having a friendly conversation). Work began at 8:30 in the morning. The crew chief (Donny) has I believe over 25 years of experience in waterproofing. His crew members are all courteous and hard working. I was home the whole day so I was able to see the way they worked. The drainage system was installed in one day. The concrete floor that was poured back looks very smooth. Also, after knowing that I wanted the sump pump discharge to be directed away from the backyard in order to keep it dry, Donny was glad to dig a trench for about 40 feet to run the discharge pipe underground so that the water now goes out to the street. This was done for me at no extra cost. ******FOUNDATION REPAIR****** When I bought the house 10 years ago, the previous owner covered 75% of the walls with new panels. I was happy to buy a house with a finished basement, but it turns out that the foundation walls behind the panels were actually having a lot of problems. To install the drainage system, the crew had to remove the bottom part of the panels. The original idea is that once the drains are installed, the panels will be put back together. However, we could now see that there are cracks in multiple places in the foundation walls. Mike (owner of Basement Pro) came with Pete couple days later and did a thorough examination of the foundation problems. Obviously I was very concerned about how much it would cost. I was prepared to spend the money on a drainage system, but I didn't think there would be any cracks in the foundations. I was also upset as there were signs that the previous owner intentionally tried to hide the problems behind the wall panels. Mike must be sympathizing with my situation, so he said they would repair the foundations at a lot less than the market price to make it affordable for me. So the crew came back two weeks later. The foundation repair included installing 12 carbon fiber straps (which when bonded to the foundation walls will make them a lot stronger), filling the cracks with grout, some digging outside the house, and putting up white shiny panels (called Durawalls) that brighten up the whole basement. The work needs 3 days. Normally all these have to cost a lot more, but I really thank Mike for understanding my situation and making it affordable for me. I highly recommend Basement Pros.

While doing ?emergency? renovations to my 95 year old grandmothers house we found standing water in the basement. Evidently every time it rained the basement would flood, but no one was the wiser. Mold was starting to show on a few of the rafters, and the bottom half of the walls were that disgusting gray-brown of old water stain. I contacted 3 different vendors from Angie's List, and set up appointments for estimates. Basement Pros was absolutely the best choice. Pete was able to come out within 24 hours to meet my limited schedule for the estimate. He was extremely thorough and explained things very well, with follow along idiot proof pictures and everything. I called the next day to schedule the work. This is where I had the only fly in the ointment of the whole process. It took over 2 weeks (and several phone calls) to get the contract by e mail so I could mail my deposit and schedule the work. Once I signed off and we scheduled the work though things went smoothly. I was not personally there the days they works, but my family members advised all the workers were polite, efficient, and worked their butts off. Hauling buckets of concrete up the stairs and around the building to their truck. The whole process took 3 days, and the basement looks great. I chose to pay a little more to have the Dura Wall panels extended to the rafters, to give the basement a brighter semi finished look. Normally I think they only come up 20-24 inches. Best of all, I have not seen a drop of water in the 5 weeks it has been done. And the new sump pump is nearly silent. *Bonus ? they broke up and removed a giant wooden work bench my grandfather built in 1954 for no additional cost. I had no idea how I was getting that out of there. It was way too big to put out for big trash, not to mention the prospect of moving it myself. Pete offered to have it done when he came to do the estimate, but it wasn?t listed on the contract anywhere. Thankfully the foreman didn?t blink when it was mentioned.
Description of Work: Complete removal of old french drain system, installation of new French Drain system, installation of new crock and new sump pump with battery back up. Mold treatment on walls, Dura Walls Panels (all around, from floor to ceiling).

My experience with Basement Pros was great. I had numerous questions before the work began, and was quite concerned about the massive amount of demolition and work that would be involved, but Mike superbly answered all my concerns. Basement Pros showed up as scheduled, and completed the work in 4 days. It was a big job. They put in a new drainage system and took care of the mold problem. To do this, they worked in my basement and dug up the concrete all the way 360 degrees around the basement, along the interior wall. They planned to dig up the concrete out from the wall into the basement about two feet or less (to the edge of the footers) in order to remove the builder's poor drainage system and put in their own system. Some spots became a surprise because they had a very wide footer, nearly 3 feet or more from the wall, yet Basement Pros dug that far out at those points, but didn't increase the cost of the job over their estimate of having to dig out 2 feet. Their team of 4 guys jackhammered all that concrete, removed it by hand in buckets from the basement up the stairs and out the front door. Then they put in a new pipe and drainage system, and a new sump pump hole and pump, then poured concrete over the that (which they carried in buckets by hand through the front door and down into the basement. They protected all our floors and stairs with tarps and more.) They also sprayed the mold with their special mold-killing material, and covered the entire wall from floor level to about 20 inches up the wall with their special mold-blocking wall covering. They also covered the cinderblock walls with two coats of white waterblock paint. Mike Ward and the foreman on the job were very cordial and educational to me during the entire job. After they were finished my wife and I painted the floor ourselves, and Mike Ward gave us plenty of guidance on what to buy and how to do it ourselves. We also bought from Lowe's and installed a dehumidifier unit in the basement to keep the humidity below 50%. So, it's about 15 months later now, and after all the "monsoon rains" we've had over the last two months in Delaware, there's not a speck of water or moisture to see or smell in the basement. We're satisfied indeed. Thanks Basement Pros!
Description of Work: We had moisture and mold at the base of most walls in our unfinished basement. I got 4 estimates from high scoring Angie's List contractors, including Basement Pros. I chose them to do the work because Mike Ward was knowledgeable, cordial, and he gave me confidence and trust that they'd do the job correctly (and the price was reasonable).

Pete came out quickly within a week to meet my limited schedule. We had a great conversation with my elderly father, for his home. Pete was very thorough explained things well to both of us. In fact, my father , a hard marker was so impressed that he felt he wanted Pete to do the job. Pete explained he would send a contract to my email which i pprovided to his office the next day. Since then I have called 3 times, Karen in his office has been responsive, and took my information, and relaying it to Pete saying I would get a call back the next day. That did not happen. I have spoken with Pete as well, two weeks from our visit and he explained he was finishing it up and needed to get the dollars right and would send it to me the next day, 5-21-13. I also resubmitted my email to Karen before speaking with Pete the same day. today is June 3 , 4 weeks after our initial contact and I have not received the contract or a call back. I would be happy to revise my rating on the job when the work is done, but so far getting the contract has been frustrating. I am wondering if the job is too small and he does not want the job.
