Estimated way over the nearest jobber. Didn't want that amount of work to be done.

We moved into the house in Oct and immediately realized that the back entry door needed to be replaced and with the set up of the furniture in the den it opened into - we wanted to switch the door to swing outside of the house. It opens onto a deck the same level as the house. Initially we thought we could do it ourselves but after researching it realized this was something beyond us and we needed professionals. We got 3 estimates (in March) - all which came to the house, examined the door, the space, and had flashy presentations of why they were better. The estimate process confirmed our decision to have it professionally done, as each one referenced the stucco on the outside as making the project a little tricky and the importance of the seal since it was an outside door. We were glad we had recognized we were in over our head until we had gotten too far. We took the middle estimate - which was Advance. We liked the sales guy, the doors all seemed equivalent and we figured middle estimate was the way to go. This estimate was almost $1000 less than the most expensive. We had completed the order sheet when the salesman was here and confirmed color, type, hardware, etc. We ordered and put down payment on the door in early April, they said they would contact me when it was ready. Three weeks went by and I hadn't heard from them, I called and was told the door would be delivered May 2nd, and they would call me when it arrived at their location. It arrived two weeks late and we set up a date to have them install it. I don't work Tuesdays - so all appointments had to be then. At this point we were happy - we wanted to have the door in before summer. The crew came on 5/14/13 to install the door. Luckily before the installer removed the old door he reviewed with me what we had ordered - the door they brought swung in, instead of out. He apologized, called his boss, explained the mistake. They needed to order the door re-made, it was a custom door, and it would be another 2-3 weeks. At this point I was not bothered, I appreciated the installer noted the problem before he took off the old door. I was called in 2wks and we set up the next install for the following week. The they called to cancel because the door had not arrived. Due to vacation schedules and me only be available on Tuesdays, we eventually had the door installed on 6/25/13. Same install crew came out, we confirmed the swing was correct, they removed the old door and hung the new one. Immediately I noted the outside color was not correct - it was supposed to be a dark brown color to match the trim around the windows. I brought out the color swatches we had ordered from and the door was a significantly lighter tan color. The installer agreed, took some pictures w/ his phone and said he would talk to the Project Manager about it. I also called the company and talked w/ someone explained the situation and she also said she would call the Project Manager and get back to me within 1-2 days. A week later I called them, per the person I spoke with (which would be the person I talked to each time I called), they were contacting the manufacturer of the door to talk about the color discrepancy. I called the following week, and now was given 3 options for resolution 1) accept the color of the door and receive a discount, 2) they would come out and redo the trim around my windows to match the door, or 3) they could make the door again in the right color. Since the trim around the windows matched the roof, I didn't want it changed; I'd spent $2250 for a door and wanted it the right color - so I choose option three. Ten days later I received an email from Advance - they were working on getting a "replacement door" so they could remove my current door, put in a temporary door, and take it to the manufacturer to fix the color. They also sent color swatches of the colors they could change my trim to match (if I wanted to change my mind and take option 2). I was extremely frustrated by now, the color they wanted to make my window trim was the color I ORDERED for the door, but NOT THE COLOR OF THE DOOR I GOT. I took pictures of the door color compared to the color swatches I had ordered from, and pictures of the door next to the window trim and emailed them back to the company. I asked "why can't you just come and repaint the door?" I received an email response the next day stating that the pictures were "helpful" and they would look into painting the door. Another week went by w/out response from them and I was tired and fed up - it was now almost 4 full months since we had ordered the door, they hadn't finished the trim around the door they put in because they were waiting until the "color issue" was worked out. I called and asked "how much of a discount" they would provide. I just wanted it done. The next day they responded they would discount $250 and come finish the trim ad threshold if that's what I wanted. I had expected a much higher discount after all of this. I stewed about it for a week and then called them on 8/6/13 and told them I'd take the discount, and scheduled to have them come finish the trim the following week (8/13/3). On 8/13/13 there was a huge rain storm and they called to reschedule for the following week. That weekend before they were to come out - I rethought the whole experience and was no longer satisfied with the discount and wrong color door. I called and left a msg and emailed on 8/25/13 stating that I wanted to speak with someone more senior in the company, I was unhappy w/ the color and did not want them coming out on 8/27/13 to finish the trim. On 8/27/13 (after a day of phone tag), I called again and asked to talk to the Production Manager. He called me back a couple hours later. I told him I was unhappy with the situation, before I could even get too much into it - he told me he and the owner had reviewed the images I sent and they agreed the door was the wrong color. They said their salesman had color swatches that were not correct, when we initially ordered the door. They agreed to order a new door with the correct color and would install it without removing the currently installed door. They apologized and asked for me to be patient while they had the door made again. They also sent a sales rep to the house to show me the corrected color swatches and confirm which color I wanted. Four weeks later the door was ready. The install crew brought it out and installed it and finished the trim and threshold. The color was correct. I paid the balance of the original price for the door - this was on 10/1/13. The door is great - exactly what we wanted. I am not one to get mad or raise my voice. I understand mistakes can be made by anyone. My husband through this whole experience kept telling me to give him the number and he would call - but I knew he would yell and make demands and I don't think that is a professional way to approach anything. In the end we got the door we wanted but if I hadn't made "one last stand" in getting the door we ordered, they would have gladly given me a small discount and been done with it. I felt that through the whole experience they just kept hoping I would let it go and go away. As a first time homeowner I've learned a lot from this experience. I would NEVER use them again, not for poor quality but for atrocious service. Mistakes can always happen - it's how they are dealt with that shows the real value of an organization.

They did a fantastic job! The windows and doors are absolutely beautiful. They were very considerate of the brand new flooring we just had installed! I sent them all thank you letters! They cleaned everything up so well that you couldn't even tell anyone had been here. I would highly recommend their services! I have them in mind for a future job to replace some more windows!

They did a great job, were very informative, dilligent, courteous, efficient and really agressive in handling the job.

The job was delayed due to weather conditions, however the company kept us informed of the delays. When the work was begun the job was completed in two days. Our roof required 33 squares of shingles. The foundation plants were covered and after the job was completed they cleaned up all materials. The roof looks great and are very satisfied with the work. We would use this company in the future.

They were very good. They gave us the best price. Their service was excellent. I would recommend them.

They were great and very helpful. They came on time and did what they said they were going to do. I am going to call them later this year to get work done.

Gary was prompt with his appointment time. He did not seem to rush these repairs. He was professional yet friendly and casual. The repairs took the allotted time he projected and there were no add on costs.

Everything went really well - it was easy to schedule an appointment and the service provider showed up on time as agreed and was very professional and explained the options to repair the problem. I was not able to use my Angie's List discount as he told me that he was already discounting the cost of repairs. Overall, I was happy with the work provided and would use this provider again.

I thought his customer service could have been better and I did not get any kind of follow.

The provider worked well with me, accepting that I could only afford to have a relatively small amount of work done at the time. He was clear what else he saw that still needed doing, but he accepted my limits pleasantly and did all the work I asked for with skill and care. If I hit the number, I will call this company again!

It went well. It went just fine. We've had no problems with the roof. There were no additional charges. It was my first time using them. I would use them in the future.

This was probably the best $129 I've ever spent! I ordered the service because I had a small "blister-type" hole in my flat roof, which was leaking slowly during rainstorms. I've also had another more major recurring leak issue that I hoped to have addressed. Advance called me quickly to set up the appointment. The service guy was very nice and let me talk through the various issues. He patched the obvious leak (the one I knew about). He then found an entry point into my house which was likely where the mystery leak was occurring. He showed me exactly where the problem was - I was so impressed I literally did a little jig on my roof. This leak was the bane of my existence, and it was so nice to know where it was occurring! He fixed it, but was also honest that caulking doesn't last forever and that if I encountered further issues, this was likely where the problem would be. I've been keeping on top of the problem spot with further caulking and spray rubber to keep it sealed. Overall, a great experience. Next time I have a roof issue, I'm definitely going with these guys!

I was very pleased with the company. The installers are very friendly, spoke English very well, did their work in a professional manner, and I was just extremely pleased.

The quailty of the work was excellent, the worker were some what rude. The team leader combative, one worker left a bottle of unrine on the property discussing! The worker need to take a course in interacting with homeowners /customers.

They did a good job. Their pricing is pretty competitive. It’s all been pretty quality work. They are trustworthy.

They had a good product and a reasonable price. The salesperson was pretty courteous and professional. They did not send as many people as they were supposed to and so the project was delayed longer than agreed upon but they came on time. They did a good job. It was just that they did not have the right people scheduled at the right time. They fixed it but it was not what was agreed upon originally.

Advance was very communicative via e-mail (which I appreciate). They scheduled the technician visits around my work schedule. They are a better bet for larger jobs (i.e. a little pricey for smaller things). Quality is great. Gave me an estimate after I sent in a picture from my smart phone.

It went really well, the door looks really nice. They came when scheduled, worked and did extras that were not put in the contract, so overall the job was excellent. The only draw back was I called my sales person to ask about a screen replacement that was half glass and screen, but he said he would check into it and I haven't heard anything from him, so was disappointed that he did not call back or follow up. I guess it does not look good on them to no have not done this at the interview, but I am still satisfied with my new door it is really nice.

Roofer came on time to look at flat part of my roof that had leaked during Storm Sandy, and only then. He was honest and said that the roof was not the problem and the leak probably had come from the bathroom siding. Often contractors coming out to give estimates to a lone woman will not talk about the technical aspects and/or bring out the sales materials. Will call upon them when I need a new roof. Darlene

That was fine. The technician indicated to me that there was some more work that needed to be done. It costed me $200 on top of the big deal purchase. I would use them in the future.

These folks are extremely honest and knowledgeable.

They're very good. They did the work when they said they were going to do it. I thought the price was fair and that they did a good job. Their people are very professional.
