Advance Roofing Windows Siding & Doors

I noticed small pieces of what looked like roof shingles on our deck one morning. I mentioned it to my husband and he thought the same thing. We looked up the best contractor to call in New Castle, DE on Angie's List and read the reviews on Advance which were pretty positive on the Company. I called Advance the next day and by Friday afternoon their roofing tech was there with his ladder right on time with ladder in hand. He climbed up on the roof, inspected it and took pictures. When he came back down, he showed us the pictures and explained what he saw in the gutters and what was showing up on the deck. The only thing my husband really needed to do was was clean out the gutters because debris from birds and the winds had collected up there. He was right after my husband cleaned the debris out of the gutters we haven't seen anymore pieces on the deck. It was a really positive experience and next year we hope to replace all the back windows and the year after the front windows with Advance Company. We are also thankful to Angie's List for their data and customer reviews.

They were on time and got right to work to find the leak and repair it. They were professional. they told us the condition of the roof and what it would cost to replace it. They did not leave a mess.

The two workers showed up at the appointed time and completed the job in a reasonable time. Their work was excellent andthey cleaned up any and all the debris. One of the workers then explained how the new door closer worked and that the keys would work both the storm door and the front door. They left me with some touch up paint for the doors. Nice job !!

Advance was very good to work with, and coming to New Jersey was not a problem. When they came to give an estimate - they were very thorough. While here they also noticed some worn out rubber grommets the vent pipes on our roof - and gave two alternatives to replace them as well. I called shortly thereafter to schedule the repair - and they were able to get it done within a couple days of that call. We chose the more thorough option for the roof repair (best to do it right!). The work was done quickly, correctly, and it looks great. I now feel certain the problem areas are now properly waterproofed and will last a long time.

I was very pleased with the job they did on my roof and I know they also do smaller jobs on exterior as well, and I figure that since they did such a good job with the roof, the smaller jobs would be childs play to them. They guarentee their craftsmanship and the shingles for 30 years and provided that guarentee in writing. I was extremely pleased with them and highly recommend them!

We were looking for estimates for our windows. After providing us with that information, the rep took it upon himself to push a hard sell of a new roof, which we weren't in the market for. He even tried to scare us into signing for a new roof by telling us it would probably cave in if we had a major snow storm. He was much more concerned about getting our signature for a service we didn't want than provide us with information about what we were looking for. We took our business elsewhere.

I had them (Advance) give me a price for removing two existing skylights and replacing with two new ones . I excepted their bid and signed a contract to do the work and at their request I gave them a deposit of $1244.00 after checking them out on Angie's list "figuring I was dealing in good faith". A week later they came back to re-measure. Then I didn't hear a word for almost three weeks. I finally called them to inquire to the status of the work. I was told that I had to speak with Joe Bailey but he wasn't in and that he would contact me. Upon contacting me the next day he informed me that the price I was given was wrong by $1800 and that the salesmen wasn't authorized to give me a price (I can't figure that one out I thought that's what salesmen did) and apologized and told me that they where going to send my deposit back and break contract. I am not happy to say the least. It has put me behind on my schedule and inconvenienced me greatly for now I must start all over finding someone and getting new & rebids for the work (most bids are only good for 30 days and and after that must be rebid depending on the company). By rights I could enforce the contract (not decided yet) because "by their own contract" they only have 30 days to cancel the agreement in writing which did not happen. I signed the contract on 5/23/12 and was informed "by phone" on 6/26/12 . I again talked to Joe on the 27th telling him how upset I was that they (Advance) were breaking the contract and again he apologized and said he wouldn't do the job and was sending my deposit back and made the statement "that I wouldn't want them to do the job underpriced". I will not say what I think he meant by that; you can draw your own conclusions, maybe he meant nothing by it. All I can say is that I'm 53 yrs old (I am a sheetmetal worker,so familiar with construction work) and have never worked for or had anyone break a contract with me or someone else before; this is the first time and I hope the last. Trust and your word is everything when it comes to business especially in these times. In this case the contract isn't worth the paper it was printed on !!!!. Granted they did apologize but that really doesn't help me much because I now have to start from scratch. I guess I should have payed more attention because another Angie's list member is having a problem with them (Advance) over work done. I saw it but figured it was only one. Maybe it was better this way; I might have saved myself a bigger head ache. If I can't trust them to keep to the contract, why should I expect them to do the work properly? It comes down to 'Buyer Beware'.

I purchased this as an Angie's list "DEAL" that did not end up being such a deal for what was performed. They were supposed to inspect my flat roofs, check for possible repairs and give me an estimate on roof and windows.The most urgent repairs were performed and I was happy with it but they gave me the runaround with the window estimate and never returned my call-email nor did I get an estimate. Very unprofessional in my opinion. Will not use again.

Advance was willing to work with us on the price. We were pleased with the final cost and contracted with them. They told us 3-4 weeks and they were installed except for one which came in damaged. The crew showed up on time, and was very patient with me asking lots of questions. Since we decided on 'new construction" they dropped the sliding around the windows. As they were installing them I noticed that they were bending aluminum flashing which created the flange to nail to the house. I was surprized since we decided on new construction windows and the flanges would have been premolded during the manufacturing of the windows. This was not how the installation was described to us and shown to us at the show room. The installer told us this is how they always do this type of installation. Caulk was used around the bent aluminum flashing to make a seal. A few windows I had them do over since it was not a smooth finish and sloppy. In my opinion, caulk fits in the same category as duct tape...it fixes all problems! We also had basement windows installed. The windows were hanging over the edge of the concrete 2 inches and they used four screws from the outside to attach them to the existing metal frame from the old windows. After calling the sale rep and providing pictures, he called me within a day. They came back and capped the outside portion of the remaining aluminum window frame and boxed in the window from the inside and capped the wooden frame around the window. If they only installed them this way the first time, I would not have never mentioned it in this write up. It appears to me that the sales person says one thing, and the installers do something different. No one told us they bend their own flanges for the new construction windows. I have been guaranteed that the caulk will not shrink or will not be an issue over time. If it is it's guaranteed!.... Bottom line...we love the windows and hope that they bring us some energy savings.

The service was timely and professional. They inspected the items of concern for me and assured me that the roof was properly winterized. I have had no problems at all with the roof through all those storms, so far I am a happy customer. I would work with them again.

They seemed to do a fine job. I was very happy at the big deal price for the inspection. They gave an estimate for new roof if we were to replace it.

We got a lot of other estimates, some much cheaper but not very thorough and we knew our job was a little complicated. Advance showed up when they said they would and their crews were hard-working, friendly and professional. They cleaned up every day and the job was done on time and for the promised price — even though they discovered 5 layers of shingles (rather than 3, which was bad enough) and wound up replacing some wood. We cannot recommend Advance highly enough for doing a great job with no unpleasant surprises. Real professionals.

First I only got one estimate. One person from another company was to come out and never showed and I didn't get a timely call back from the other. I felt a little pressured by the coupon that says you only get the percentage off if you book them when you get the estimate, it was my fault I didn't read the fine print. He also noticed several other items in need of repair an area of siding is warped on the garage,but it was getting pricey and the items were not hurting anything. The work proposal was written up very detailed, including taking photos. I had wanted to be home to avoid any problems but they assured me it wasn't necessary, The person who came out was not involved in any of the work , they had to come out more than once because they didn't do all the work that was listed on the proposal, Also a piece of plexiglass that covers a window well was broken and initially they said it was found that way, yet it was right where they were working and I did not get a call prior to them starting that day to say what they found. They did fix it, but it took several attempts. When they came to finish the work they thought they finished and were to repair the broken plexiglass the person didn't have the appropriate tools or couldn't purchase the plexiglass at the nearest Big box store. Yet I found it there? One last thing , each time they came out it was a different person. Also the one time they came and nothing happened because they didn't have the right size of siding.? Really, who didn't have there coffee. The office person I spoke to all the time was very professional and calm. For once in my life I did not pay until everything was completed and they did not bother me about it. Actually, I think they forgot. I would use them again , I think they probably are very good. I would try next time to get other estimates before.

Spencer from Advance came to give me a quote on a deck that I wanted and designed. We agreed on a price and a few weeks later Frank came to install it. They were respectful and professional and I love my new deck.

They didn't show up for the appointment and I called to see why no one had showed. They didn't even have any record of my appointment in their system.

The crew was polite and worked very hard. They even replaced the facia above the garage for free because it didn't match the color of our siding. The whole process from quote to finished roof was complete in 10 days. I would definitely use them again in the future.

BAD! They didn't get the permit until after the installation was done. Their negligence has me in extremely hot water with my township inspectors. Their installation is done now, but my house is still in violation of the building code. Now I have to spend an additional $1750 with a second contractor to get up to code -- and get this -- I have to pull a second permit for the additional work. They also stopped answering my calls after the second failed inspection. The door they installed is fine, they didn't try to up-sell us like the other two bids we got did. Still, I wish we had gone with someone else. The interior space around the door has a bunch of rough spots I have to either hire someone to fix or figure out how to correct: 1- one trim joint above the door is mis-aligned and has an eighth-inch ridge; 2- there is a gap in front of the trim pieces around the door, where they meet the floor, such that there are holes up to a quarter inch wide in the floor; and 3- the tape-and-spackle joint on one side has a ridge that I can't manage to sand away or smooth out with more spackle.

I read the write ups on Angies list and was aware that Advance Inc had done several roofs in my neighborhood. I contacted them to make an appointment expecting that I would probably need to leave a message. To my surprise someone answered the phone. I made an appointment for an estimate, which they could do the next day. The rep showed up right on time, was professional, knowledgeable and very respectful. There was no pressure at all. He explained the products, and gave me an overview of the entire process including a timeline of all of the activities. I was going to get 3 estimates, but given the price, knowledge, quality products, professionalism, responsiveness and Angie's rating I made the decision on the spot to use Advance. They were also happy to work within certain scheduling limitations we had. The roofing started exactly the date and time I was given. They appeared, replaced the roof, cleaned up everything and were done in one day. Great experience! I am recommending Advance Inc to all my friends and neighbors. Now I know how they earned such a great rating from Angies List? THANKS ADVANCE

Great. They came out, surveyed the problem, gave approximate costs. They cleaned up and came back a second time for extra clean up. They did everything that they promised. I'm very happy. It was moderate price and workmanship and quality was excellent.

The salesperson we worked with was excellent - his name was Rodney. We contacted Advance to price out siding and he really walked around our house, examining what was causing our heating problems and concluded that, for the most part, it was the windows. He then worked with us to find cost-effective window solutions and he got us a very competitive price on the new doors Advance installed leading to our roof deck. My one real complaint with Advance, and I would've rated them overall A- if there was an option for that, was that the main office seems maybe a bit disorganized? As soon as I provided my deposit I did not hear from them for a long, long time. Finally I called them back and I was forced to call several times before I got them to actually put me on the schedule. One of the points I had made with Rodney was how eager I was to get the work done as quickly as possible and he and the project manager, Sean, both said that during the winter things were slow and it should be possible to put me on the schedule very soon and get what were effectively three separate projects finished inside a month. Three weeks later, though, I was still chasing down the main office trying to get everything scheduled. Once I got a little snippy with them they came right out and I have to say I think the work they did was really terrific. My very old, not-necessarily-always-well-taken-care-of house posed quite a few problems with them and they really put in the elbow grease, sending out additional people to get the work done as quickly as possible. It also looks great - the windows that Rodney recommended for our family room were a kind I had never heard of before that, on one long side of the room, do not open. That recommendation provided cost savings and the look is even better than if we had windows that open - because the whole long wall is covered in windows there are now fewer posts in between them and the view is awesome. The capping on the outside is also really great looking and they took great pains to make sure the new doors will be watertight. Overall they put in a really great effort, had terrific workmanship and were very pleasant. In terms of advice to others I would just recommend that new customers stay on top of the central office to make sure their order is being processed correctly and to make sure that they stay on the top of the company's "to-do" list.

I called Advance for a quote. Roland came out on Saturday to look at the job. He was punctual (hence the A rating for punctuality). Unfortunately, he seemed more interested in selling us new roofing material, rather than talk to us about how he would go about repairing the roof. We showed him the report from the leak specialist, as well as pictures on what needed to be repaired. He largely ignored what we said, and kept trying to sell us the new roof. I was disappointed. To make matter worse, he was supposed to send us a written quote via email. Instead he calculated some numbers on a yellow pad, and said, "this is the offer if you agree today." I felt incredibly pressured, and this was after I let him know that we were getting 3 quotes. Needless to say, after he left, we never heard from him and we NEVER received any estimate via email.
