They are absolutely horrible and should not be in business. We had dozens of irreplaceable items destroyed through gross negligence. How does a snowblower placed on top of an expensive desk (ruined) with no covering for a 700+ mile move sound? Or tools packed with expensive china? Just now, I discovered that some absolute fool opened a wooden crate that I'd hand-built to move a 3 foot high glass ornament tree and piled large plastic dolls and other items on top of the tree, utterly destroying something that was precious to my wife. The pure insanity of how things were packed is mind boggling. If you want your memories ruined, then go ahead hire Hopkins and Sons. They'll do a more thorough job of wrecking your belongings than a flood or hurricane. I can't honestly can't exaggerate just how bad this company is, and no amount obscenities would do justice.

I was thrilled with every aspect of my move from Hopkins and Sons. This was a three-part move, and every one went very smoothly due to the professionalism of the Hopkins staff. I ultimately moved from DE to FL, but I put some stuff in storage and moved locally before I moved out of state. JC and his crew handled the moving of some of my items to storage and my local move. They were careful, efficient, reliable, and friendly. Dino and his crew loaded my belongings for my out-of-state move, and also delivered on the other end. They too were fabulous, very efficient and reliable, and completely trustworthy. I also have high praise for Tom Montgomery, the gentleman who came out to provide the estimates for my move. He was easy to talk to, honest, and explained every aspect of the move in excellent detail. I would not hesitate to use Hopkins in the future, and will recommend them to anyone I can.

Tom provided a thorough inspection of what we were moving and gave us a detailed estimate. We were contacted several days before our move to confirm the date and time. The driver called us the morning of the move to tell us they were a few minutes away. There were 5 men that worked seamlessly together. They put down mats to cover our floors. They wrapped our furniture carefully and handled the boxes well. We had a number of large pieces and antique furniture. There were two antique pieces that had some damage and Hopkins is sending someone to fix the broken fretwork and molding. We were very pleased with them and would highly recommend them.

I wasn't able to hire movers until extremely close to move date and Hopkins and Sons was extremely helpful and attentive. With only 2 weeks before I had to move, they were not able to perform an onsite walkthrough to provide an estimate. Instead, the representative asked me for a detailed list of items and the number of boxes and sent an estimate to me. This was extremely helpful. On the day of the move, the delivery truck arrived with 3 eager movers ready to empty my home. They were professional, friendly, and careful. They moved the entire house (3 stories full of furniture and boxes) in 90+ degree weather in almost the exact amount of time they estimated. The main mover went over my charges for the days services to make sure I understood exactly what all of the line items were. They then left ensuring that they would deliver my things to their storage facility for the next 4 weeks. My move out of storage to my new home was delayed by a week, and with one days notice as I was able to reschedule my move with Hopkins and Sons. They were super accommodating and made me feel at ease about the move. On the morning of the delivery, again 3 eager movers arrived with my things in tow. On yet another 90+ degree day, they moved my things around for me. Even removing items that I mistakenly had them place in one room instead of another. They were very respectful and careful of my new home and left it the same condition as when they left. The same courtesy to go over all of my itemized charges was explained to me before I was asked for final payment. Moving is one of the stressful things a person can go through. The one thing I can say that I didn't have to worry about was my moving company. They were easy to work with, accommodating, and affordable. I will definitely recommend them in the future. They made my move awesome!

Great experience with Hopkins from beginning to end. Brad came out an hour after I called to request a quote to go through the house and document everything that had to go. Since we were moving from Wilmington to Philadelphia, Hopkins was able to quote the job as both an interstate move and as a "local" move so we could compare the two costs. Interstate moves are based on weight; local moves are based on hours. The local quote was cheaper (~$2000), so we went with that. We had scheduled a Saturday move and they were due to arrive at 8:30. Four guys and two trucks showed up at around 8:10 and were in and out of the first house by 11 am. An hour's drive later and navigating onto an EXTREMELY narrow road (where our new house is located), and the guys started hauling everything into the new home (did I mention that these guys were hoofing it up and two four flights of stairs at both homes?) They were clean, professional, and efficient, and finished in FAR fewer hours than was quoted to us. (~6 instead of 10). We could not believe how affordable it was and how friendly everyone was throughout the process. By 2 pm on move day, we were completely into our new house and the trucks had left. I would absolutely recommend Hopkins to ANYONE who needs moving services.

I only used Hopkins and Sons for an estimate on the move but I want to acknowledge how professional they were to work with. . Their estimator was very professional and helpful. The situation was unusual as I was packing up the contents of my parents' house after their death so the family could sell the house. My parents had lived in the house over 50 years so there was quite a bit stored in there. This did not phase the estimator at all. He was very cooperative, going up into the attic, down into the basement, and through the house. He made several helpful suggestions on who could sell the furniture I was leaving behind, how I could cheaply dispose of junk left behind, etc. I received the estimate in the time he had told me I would get it. The total estimated cost was very reasonable. I would recommend this company to anyone in the area making a move. By the way, I ended up getting estimates from more than one company and the estimates were all so close, I pretty much picked the moving company I used by closing my eyes and pointing. So no reflection on Hopkins and Sons

The problem here is rating the workers/movers vs. the company management and sales. The crew leader, Tabby, did his absolute best with his crew but was put in a bad situation by the company management and sales person. We contracted this company to come to our home to estimate the cost of the move plus note special information regarding our move so that we could perform the task efficiently as we have done this several times in the past few years (using this very company) and knew what the job would require. When the salesperson, Brad, came to our home the very first thing we mentioned was needing a box built by them for a 50and quot; plasma flat screen tv. After that, we informed him we had used Hopkins twice before and that we would require a truck with a ramp so that the truck could back up to the door and use the ramp over the steps to move things directly from the house into the truck without having to carry everything up and down the front steps. We had already started packing and were well organized and this was 17 days before the requested move date. Brad nodded and then proceeded to do his own walk-thru noting what would have to be moved then gave us an estimate of 3 movers for 6.5 hrs at $150 per hr for a total of $1,000. On 8/2 we called to say we forgot to mention an off-site 5x10 storage area located 10 minutes from the house and so we received an updated estimate of 8 hrs at $150 per hr for a new total of $1225.00 On 8/15 the moving crew showed up 1/2 hr later than promised because there had been a lack of planning and a last minute scramble for trucks for the day. Our crew did NOT bring a truck with a ramp as was requested, in fact, they arrived with a rental truck saying they didn't have enough of their own to handle the day's business. The rental truck not only had no ramp to help with moving items from the home into the truck bed but it had no ramp at all --it had a motorized lift system that had to be utilized for each load going into the truck from street level to raise it to truck bed level. The same applied to unloading at the new place adding hours to the estimated time. In addition, the crew arrived without a box for the plasma tv and had to call back to the company for that. Then, when I mentioned that we also needed to go to the storage unit after loading the house contents they said they didn't know about that but should be able to get it done. My question to them and one repeated loudly for the first hour of the day was and quot;why send a sales person in advance to do an estimate and get all of the info and special needs if none of that will be written down or taken into consideration?!and quot; I told the guys I wasn't angry with them, this wasn't their fault, but that we had tried to make this large move as easy and efficient for them as possible and their sales and management people had done a lousy job. Two hours into emptying the house, because things were going much slower due to the front stairs and the lift truck, we made a decision to not go to the storage unit because there would not be enough time (or room in the truck). So note: we had to rent a U-Haul van a week later to return and do that part of the job ourselves! So now we should have been back to the original estimate of 6.5 hrs and $1000, right? Wrong. Because we did not get the type of ramp truck we requested at the time of the estimate taken by Brad, this 6.5 hr job turned into a 10 hr job as we waited for the lift to move each load up into and then down out of the truck. And remember, that's after dropping the request to empty the storage unit. At the finish, we were charged for the full 10 hours even though the guys arrived 1/2 hour late that morning and also stopped for a well deserved lunch break AND we were also still charged an extra $25 for the storage unit trip that was never made!!! I have to say, even though I used this company twice before, because of this experience I will never use them again. I definitely felt we were abused as customers and that there was no consideration given to our special requests even though they were supplied 17 days in advance. When I called to complain about the lift truck and explained about all the steps and extra time this would take I was told by Cathy that it would make no difference and that, and quot;the guys are used to stepsand quot; and it wouldn't take any longer. Clearly, not only was she wrong but she was a bit rude about it, as if I was being unreasonable to expect the type of truck I requested. Nope. It felt as if they sent the type of truck that would take the most time and make them the most money and then, even though they couldn't do the job as originally requested and we had to finish it ourselves, spending even more money, they proceeded to charge us for their late arrival, lunch time, and the extra trip for storage items they never even made. Two days later someone called my cellphone to ask about the service but we were out to dinner with friends and I said I couldn't talk just then. They never called back.

This was a top-notch experience from the start. The estimator was honest and upfront about the cost. Final cost was at the low end of his range which was good (local move so we paid an hourly rate). Price included very good insurance coverage. Hopkins stored our belongings overnight and unloaded the next morning. The 3 man crew was great. Very professional and they knew how to do their jobs well and quickly. No lost items, no damaged items, no complaints. Would not hesitate to use Hopkins and Sons again.

The movers (3) showed up on the time expected. We started paying them from the time they left their office until they arrived at our location which is about 30 minutes away. We had used the same company the year before and were moving about the same distance away so we figured that the move would be the same amount, about $500.00. Well they were slow as tar, they stopped along the way to have lunch then claimed they got lost finding the new place even though they had GPS. They even charged us an extra 45 minutues at the end of the move, I guess we were supposed to pay them to get home too. The move came to $1,100.00 and I about died. I was just sick about it. Will not use them again. I had recommended them in the past and now I am sorry I did.

Very professional, quality company. I had a great experience from the receptionist I spoke to on the phone, to the gentleman who came out to give me the estimate, to the actual movers. Each was extremely professional, patient, answered every question I had and did it with pride. you can tell this company values its employees and trains them for their specific job function. The gentleman who gave our estimate was spot on, gave me tips on how to make the move easier on myself, what might be good for me to move on my own, etc. The movers were punctual, were done in the time they said they would, and even on the day we move in (we moved out one day, moved in the next) was able to bring on an extra guy at the last minute so that we could have the move completed in a shorter amount of time. For anyone who is weary because they charge by the hour, do not be. They were extremely efficient and on the move in day, were done ahead of schedule. I would highly recommend this company.

They came to my house to give me an estimate for moving cost. They packed up all of my daughter's belongings in Deleware and took it too Texas and moved her into her new house. They are so professional that I am using them again to move myself.
