+ -1 moreOverall, went very well. Contractor met with me to carefully insure that he understood what I needed, and to also insure that I knew what materials and services would be provided. Workers arrived on-time, and were courteous. Work was performed in a professional manner, and results looked very good. (My only complaint was that, during the removal of the old tub, plaster dust was kicked up and not contained in the bathroom, resulting in a layer of plaster dust covering all surfaces of the house.) I am very satisfied with my new bathroom!
Description of Work: Replace bathroom subfloor, floor tile, toilet, bathtub and tub surround.

+ 2 moreSo, as mentioned before, I did end up sourcing my vanity top and vanity elsewhere. I ended up getting Home Depot to do both. (Hope Depot outsourced to other contractors of course.) The price and quality from Home Depot was better than my other choices. But this review is about First State, so let me return to talking about them. First State was perfect in everything they did. * The sales process was very smooth and responsive. * They had a bit of backlog, so I had to wait a bit, but they were very communicative throughout the process and scheduling was more than satisfactory. * They were extremely flexible with dealing with my external vendor (for the vanity top installation). They were VERY accommodating and appreciated it. * They did high quality work. On all parts: tub work, tile work, plumbing work, vanity work. As well as in keeping disruption to a minimum and professionalism. * They were very communicative and responsive about when they would show up, what work would happen when, and dealing with the whole process. * They went above and beyond on several minor things that were not in the contract.
Description of Work: I wanted to redo a bathroom. No structural changes, but the tub, floor and vanities all really needed complete replacement. And if I was replacing all of those things that it made sense to replace fixtures too. Because I didn't want to get caught between vendors pointing fingers at each other, and because I didn't have a lot of time to manage the project personally, I wanted to find one general contractor to do all of the work. Somewhat annoyingly I found that absolutely no one was willing to do the complete job. I had a couple of general contractors be willing to do all of the labor, but they wanted me to source everything by myself. (And they tended to VASTLY underestimate the costs from their recommended suppliers.) First State Bath got the closest to bidding the entire job. They would supply the tub, the surround, the tile, the fixtures, and the labor. (They would also be wiling supply the vanity top, but they only had one option for surfaces. And I wasn't particularly happy with that one choice.) They also were very competitive on price. (Hard to compare apples to apples, since every vendor was wiling to take on different parts, but I was happy with the First State's price comparatively.) This meant I had to find my own vanities, and my own vanity top. But other than that, First State would handle everything. So, in summary, I needed a tub, a tub surround, vanities, a vanity top, and floor tile. Plus all of the labor associated with that. I got all but the the vanity top (and vanity top labor) and vanity from First State.

They were very attentive to their work. They did their work in two and half days. I will tell anybody that if they want their bathroom done to consider using First State. They were professional and answered any questions I had. They did know what they were doing and they did it well and did it in a timely fashion and professional manner. They cleaned up after themselves.

+ 8 moreOur project couldn't have been more flawless. The work crew came promptly at 8am for 3 full days, laying down runners of dropcloths to protect our hardwood floors. They worked diligently together, asking us our opinion as they proceeded. They usually would finish each day by 3p, with the affected areas vacuumed and picked up. They hauled away all the huge boxes. Since it rained for 2 days, they worked out of our garage and cleaned it and our driveway of any debris. They not only worked efficiently and expertly as a team but were so pleasant and accommodating to us. None of our questions were ignored. The installation of our frameless sliding shower door and unconventional sliding barn door on its track were products they hadn't dealt with before. But, they took their time and care to install both as if it was routine! We are extremely satisfied with the outcome. We would definitely recommend "First State Bath" to anyone wanting a professional, reasonably priced bathroom remodel by a great group of expert, friendly workers. Thank you 2 Mikes and 2 Teds, Tom, their supervisor and Joe, owner, for my new spa-like bathroom!
Description of Work: Demolished our old bathroom and installed a new acrylic shower unit with sliding glass shower door, new vanity/sink/toilet/light fixture and vinyl flooring. Will also repaint next week.

Description of Work: Total and complete re-do of the bathroom, all the way down to the studs. Amazing job, they did a really good job of coordinating each step and wasted no time at all. The bathroom is a dream and we couldn't be happier!

We had several people come out to give us a pricing, and they were not the cheapest, but they explained things better and showed us samples of everything. I really like the man that came out here.We are just waiting for them to get the materials, and then, they are going to come and redo what we need done.

Description of Work: Joe and Mike were very courteous and professional from beginning to end of our installation. Joe responded to my online inquiry within one day and set up an appointment with me to discuss remodeling my master shower. I liked the presentation Joe provided to show me my options for the job. He even had a sample of the material used to make the shower stall, which was very helpful to me in deciding to move forward with the job. After hiring 1st State Bath and setting a date for installation, we had one set back. A piece of the shower stall did not arrive in time for our selected date, so we had to move the date out about two weeks. However, this time frame was due to my family's planned vacation which just happened to be the week the new installation date could have been scheduled. Mike and Joe installed our new shower within one day and it looks fantastic! I was provided with upgraded shower fixtures at no extra cost due to rescheduled date of installation, which I think was a wonderful gesture from Mike and Joe. I love our new shower and I also love the guarantees that come with it. I would definitely recommed 1st State Bath for anyone considering remodeling a shower or bath. I plan on remodeling the bathtub in my daughter's bathroom, and I will be calling 1st State Bath to do the job!
