I've had a contract with Lawns Unlimited for many years, and my mother was their customer before that. I was always pleased with the polite and kind manner of the woman I spoke with on the phone--I believe her name was Brenna. Last year, however, their technician killed my entire lawn and damaged a spruce tree when applying lime and another treatment. I had to call repeatedly to find out what they had done and what I should do to remedy the situation as quickly as possible, because I was showing my house to prospective buyers, and my yard looked TERRIBLE. What irked me the most was that Ed would only make comments to me through the office staff, and when he finally deigned to get on the phone, he said that nothing they had done would have burnt my lawn. I beg to differ; I've read online that excessive lime applications done in the hot months can burn a lawn. I'm not comfortable working with a company that lies to me, so I've terminated my account. Sad, after all these years. I'm giving more than one star because I feel I should acknowledge the past GOOD years of service.

I had pre-paid for yearly maintance in advance for two years no one else but Lawns Unlimitied had serviced the system, in the spring the tech said someone else had rewired the system and I would have to pay to have them wire the system correctly. I called another company out they found one wire not connected and the system worked. The owner Ed Fleming is incompetent and has no customer relations skills. Hope they dont take advantage of other people like they did me.

They contracted to spray herbicide (2 applications) to kill existing vegetation and then aerate, re-seed and fertilize. Problem arose when they applied the first application two months earlier than agreed without prior notification ahead of time they would be coming. Just so happened they came and did the spraying when we were not at home so we ended up with a dead lawn much earlier than planned. Advised them we would not pay and they did not contest.

We did not select them because of there inability to return calls and schedule. I understand that this is there busy season but it was a little excessive.
Description of Work: We did not hire the provider because of the lack of responsiveness to inspect our irrigation system. It took 6 phone calls and multiple voicemails that were never returned. On my 6th phone call between the hours of operation (which seem to be limited and exclude any weekend responses) someone finally answered. They were polite and helpful and told me they would speak with the supervisor and call me first thing the next morning and that they never received the voicemails from either my realtor or me. The next day they did not return my call to 5:06P.M. and offered service. This was exactly 10 days after my first day reaching out to them. They seem very nice but if you have any urgency I would look elsewhere

Description of Work: I have used this provider for a number of years for all my lawn services. Unfortunately, I had several bad experiences with damages to my outside hose bibs by riding lawn mowers, billing discrepancies and increase in prices not keeping with other local services. While some of the office staff where still customer friendly, it seemed like the company overall was ore interested in money than service. I have seen their trucks less and less in my community. The agronomist appears to be knowledgeable, but I don't do not feel the sense of customer communication I once experienced. I do still use them for some lawn fertilization services. |Since using other providers, I have saved several hundred dollars over the last year or two. I had also noticed that some "long time" workers were leaving the company to go to competitors. As a new comer to this area, Lawns Unlimited was the right way to go. However, over time one learns there are other good alternatives.

Water in the sprinkler system was drained and blown out with compressed air. Electrical connections were disconnected and system turned off for the winter. Part of scheduled maintenance program. I've used this company for 9 years. They generally provide a quality product and should since they are one of the higher priced service companies in the area. They are a very busy company and I often have to wait a week for a service call which can be a long time when your lawn is browning out. There is a lot of turn over in the staff who service my system, with occassional language problems.. Overall I continue to think they are a good company that tries to do a quality job and usually delivers it.

The job was completed on time, when promised. Maurice explained each step along the way. When the job was completed, he made sure the sprinkler hads were watering only the areas that I wanted, and spent time on each one to be sure it was accurate. He spent time explaining how to operate the system, and supplied a map accurately locating each sprinkler head. I continue to use Lawns Unlimited for other services, and appreciate their expertise. I recommend them to others, and will continue to use them.
Description of Work: Lawns Unlimited installed an irrigation system in my irregularly shaped corner lot. It was completed pofessionally, with no evidence that the lawn had been cut up to install the piping.

Have been using Lawns Unlimited for 6-7 years. In 2011, the use of a harmful fertilizer was used on my lawn which destroyed 5 trees on my property. No resolution from Lawns Unlimited and had to finally resolve through company that made the fertilizer. Will never use Lawn Unlimited again.

Response from Lawns Unlimited
We apologize for your unpleasant experience. Unfortunately, it was an external company who did create the fertilizer that did kill your trees. They have had, literally, thousands of complaints submitted to them by companies and residents, from all over the country. Additionally, in order to be reimbursed for your loss, they have to review each individual case. As you can imagine, this is a long and arduous process. We have settled many cases with them for our customers. Even now, more than two years later, we are still submitting cases to them for our customers and following up on the cases that are still unresolved. Lawns Unlimited shares in your frustration, but advises our customers to have patience as they work through this process. We are here to help! Customer service is our first priority.

Very impressed with all facets of the total job including the owner's involvement during the well drilling and installation. Needed some fine tuning afterwards but the company was responsive in providing this. Office personnel are always available for questions and assistance. No recorded announcements. Area around the well head could have been prepared better after the installation. I had to replant and seed to tidy up the location.

Hearing a commercial on WGMD advertising bag worm spraying, I called Lawns Unlimited to have the worked performed. Reaching the office early Thursday or Friday morning, I was able to schedule an appt. to have six Leland Cypress trees on my property sprayed the following Tuesday morning. On Monday afternoon, I called back to get an estimate of when the techician might arrive. I was told there was no record of my appointment. I again set up the appt. for the following morning. Since I was told I needed to be on site to pay the tech, I took vacation time on Tuesday morning. But as of 12:30 p.m. on Tuesday, the tech had not arrived and I had received no phone. I called the office to inquire as to why no one showed up for the appt. and was placed on hold while the office tried to locate the tech. No luck. They office worker promised to call back in "just a few minutes." More than a half-hour passed with no word. I again called the office and was again placed on hold. Finally able to reach the technician, I was told he had stopped spraying for the day because the temp. had climbed too high for the spraying to be effective. (I had scheduled the appointment for the morning.) It was now 1:30 p.m. Had I not called I do not know when, or if, I would have ever been notified that the tech was not coming. I was told they would re-schedule the spraying for the following morning. Having lost faith in the abililty of this company to make and keep an appointment, I declined their offer saying "I had wasted enough time." The office worker asked if I would like to speak with the owner and I said I would. I was again placed on hold for a couple of minutes, and then told by the staffer that she was unable to reach the owner. The staffer spectulated that the owner, who was out on a job, probably could not hear the phone ringing. Fair enough. Things happen and plans can change, especially in a business where weather plays a role. Haviing said that, there is little excuse for having no record of a previously-made appt. and not keeping a customer informed that the service person will either be arriving late or (as was the case here) not at all. Maybe they do better work for other customers, but in my experience they demmonstrated poor communication skills and a total disregard for my time.

I was in the market for a new landscaper for my property including irrigation, plantings, mulching and mowing on an annual basis since the gentleman I have been using for the last three (3) years is starting to not be a punctual as I would like.As always, I started off with a bid/proposal from another competitor and this company, Lawns Unlimited was to be my second bid/proposal. As always, I think it is wise to get three (3) bids before proceeding with an acceptance of an agreement.I first drove out to Lawns Unlimited on Saturday, June 18, 2011 around 1:00 PM but was not able to find them using my GPS in my car. I called the number listed on the website and the hours said that they were opened, but no answer. I decided to leave a message for someone to call me back to schedule an appointment.I received a return call on Monday morning from a lady. She took my name, address and said that they would be getting back to me shortly. I received a message from John. When I called back, he was already on a job and had really poor phone reception and asked if he could call me back when he returned to the office later in the day where my file was. I said that would be fine.I did not hear back from John on Monday or Tuesday so onn Wednesday late afternoon before the close of business, I pulled up the website on my computer at work to get the phone number and as I was dialing the number all of a sudden, loud music started coming out of the website. I chuckled and said to the lady who answered the phone that you should get rid of the music on the website in a joking manner. I understand that not everyone has the same humor and as I stumbled to close down the website so I could hear the receptionist better on the phone, she seemed annoyed because she going not hear me either. I explained to hear that the music on the website was too loud, just an observation and that maybe they would not want that to be on their website. She immediately transferred me to someone else, a gentleman that never identified himself and yelled at me that he liked the music on the website and would not do business with someone that did not like it and hung up. I was honestly beside myself in laughter because I thought this was just a joke that the salesman must be playing, but he really hung the phone up on me and stated clearly that if I didn't like the music on the website that they would not do business with someone like me.Wow! I thought how did this go so bad? Regardless of my suggestion to remove the loud music from their website it did not deserve the abrupt, decisive and hostile attitude that was shown to me.This company was a referral by another specialized landscaper that doesn't offer full service, but I will surely advise them of my dislike for the lack of professionalism that was shown upon me while attempting to contact a salesman that had not called back as promised in a few days to an even more hostile attack when I discussed the loud music on their website that interrupted my phone call with their receptionist that could not hear me and likewise.
