I should have read some of the reviews on this business. My bad! When I first called him, Paul was out to my home within an hour. That was the end of any good experiences with him. The primary reason I hired him was to remove a large tree in my front yard that was taken down by the recent tropical storm. The state removed the upper section that had fallen across the road and I contracted Paul to remove the lower section laying in my yard, grind the stump down, fill the hole and lay sod in that area. Paul was also to trim several other trees on my property and clean out leaves, etc. at the tree lines bordering the property and at the rear of the property. He asked for 1/2 of his fee up-front, which I foolishly gave to him. He and his crew showed up a day or two later and cut up and removed the tree laying in the front yard, but he was unable, with the equipment he had, to remove the trunk and base of the tree. He indicated that he would return the next day with the equipment to do the job. He did return, but had no "equipment" with him. He and his helper dug around the tree, did some more cutting, and then attempted to pull the stump out with his pickup truck. That did not work either, but it did produce several deep ruts in my front yard. While here, his worker began blowing the leaves, etc. from one of the tree lines bordering my property. However, he abruptly quit and they were packed up to leave when my neighbor called and said that Paul's worker blew leaves and debris all over her driveway and lawn, in addition to blowing them onto my lawn and into my flower beds that had just been mulched a week or so earlier. I then spoke to Paul and he told me that they were leaving for the day because of a weather forecast for a storm with thunder and lightning and would return the next day. I told Paul that I understood and he could leave the leaves, etc. on my lawn until the following day, however, he had to remove those he had blown into my neighbors yard before he left. Despite carrying on like a 3 year old child, burning an inch or so of rubber off of his rear truck tires spinning wheels in the street, and using half of the foul words in existence, he reluctantly cleaned up some, but not all, of the debris his worker had put on my neighbor's property. Well guess what? That was the last I ever saw or heard from Paul and it's now been a few weeks since he was last here. He does not return calls that I have left on his answering device and it is pretty clear that he has no intention of returning to at least finish removing the tree stump, clean up the mess he made, and fill and sod or seed the ruts he dug in my lawn with his truck. I have since checked with other tree removal services and the amount I paid to Paul up front is about double what they would have charged to remove the fallen tree, grind the stump down, and fill and seed the hole. Of course, Paul's quote included trimming several other trees and cleaning up the leaves on the sides and the rear of the property. However, none of those other things were done. Anyone who is considering hiring Paul to do work for them may want to think long and hard about it before they do. There are plenty of honest and ethical businessmen out there but, based upon my experience with him, Paul is not one of them. I strongly suggest that you stay away from Paul's Lawn Service and look elsewhere. Frankly, If he does these kind of things to even half of his customers, I can't imagine how he stays in business. But, if you, like me, are foolish enough to hire Paul to do work for you, DO NOT UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCES GIVE HIM ANY MONEY UP FRONT! Edit: This is additional information in regard to my 8/26.20 review of Paul's Lawn Service. They say a picture is worth a thousand words so posted below are a couple of pictures showing the base of the tree that is still in my yard and a few of the several deep ruts that Paul dug in my yard with the tires on his pickup truck. This is what I got from Paul's Lawn Service for the $2000 up front payment that I gave to him for work that he has not done. Does that look like $2000 worth of work to anyone? It's going to cost me another $500 or more to get the stump removed, the ruts filled, and the area seeded or to have sod put down. WARNING. IF, AFTER READING THIS, YOU STILL DECIDE TO HIRE PAUL, PLEASE DO NOT GIVE PAUL ANY MONEY UP FRONT UNLESS YOU'RE WILLING TO RISK LOSING IT. I was stupid enough to do it and got stung, but I hope and pray that I can help some other trusting soul from getting screwed by this guy. Photo of Paul's Lawn Service - Millsboro, DE, United States.
