From initial contact thru the year warranty punch list, our experience with Accessible Home Builders, when building our home, was nothing short of exceptional. Dale spent a lot of time helping us design the home for our needs, with our desires and to our tastes, giving advice when we strayed and silent when he knew it was the way we wanted it to be. The detailed proposals and contract meant we knew just what we were getting and that there would be no surprises. The construction was on schedule, built by craftsman and with attention to detail. Our crawlspace is dry, our floors do not bounce, our home is energy efficient and there were no drywall cracks, a testament to Scott’s guidance and knowledge of the building sciences. Any glitches were handled. Period. Without fan fair or finger pointing. The building of our new home was truly an enjoyable, stress free process and we would do it again. Their quality of work is poor. I had a two year warranty on the build and they did only what they had to during that time. They do the work and refuse to correct any outstanding issue. The concrete work has cracks in it and they told me that was common and I knew it wasn't. I contacted the subcontractor that did the concrete work and they came out to look at it, but never came back. I contacted Accessible and they refuse to do anything about it. I had to have the countertops replaced due to poor quality of work. They do not stand behind their product. I had a gas water heater installed and they never checked the water to see if it was clear or potable. The water turned out to be muddy and contaminated. All of the floor vents were filled with debris; sawdust, pieces of wood, coffee cups, etc. Six months after we moved in, we had heavy rains and 6 shingles flew off the house. I called them and they said it wasn't their problem and to call the roofer. They have completely ignored all of the issues. Scott Lanham, the owner, has ignored everything. They installed a double bowl sink when we explicitly requested a single bowl. They stated it wasn't part of the contract when we knew it was. I found wiring laying in the insulation in our attic that was supposed to be contained in a metal box. I had to call the electrician to get it fixed. They are not a reputable company and I would not recommend them to anyone. They charged me $3,000 to grade and seed my yard. They originally advised me it should be done in the fall, but stated they had to do it in June because the contractor wanted to do it at that time. In front of the house, there was about a four foot section that had not been graded. The contractor came out in May to grade and seed the yard. I called him in August and asked him to re-grade the front yard near the road. At that time, he told me he could have waited until the fall to do what he did in May. I told him that Accessible told me he wanted to do the job then. He told me they were lying.
